Hello everyone, I'm back again with another trip to Phuket. Yes, you heard that right, Phuket! I know what you're thinking: "Phuket again? Don't you ever get tired of it?" But the answer is a resounding no! There's just so much to love about this island paradise. From stunning hotels and resorts to delicious restaurants and crystal-clear waters, Phuket has it all. Plus, it's easily accessible and familiar to me since I visit so often (more than five times a year!).
So, what exactly keeps me coming back to Phuket? Well, for starters, the accommodations are top-notch. The beaches are pristine, the food is incredible, and my dear friends reside there. But enough about me, let's dive into the details of this particular trip.
This adventure began earlier this year, and it's been so long that I almost forgot about it! I actually did a review of a previous trip I took to Phuket during the end-of-year festivities. However, with the recent surge in popularity of Thai beaches, I felt compelled to share my experiences once again. Hopefully, this information will prove helpful for those planning a trip to Phuket, whether it's for relaxation, diving, exploring coral reefs, or indulging in delectable cuisine.
Let's start with the accommodation on this trip, Avista Hideawa Resort Phuket. It's a resort that's not by the sea, but it does have a sea view. This resort is another place
that I was very impressed with, both in terms of the excellent service, which was a far cry from the first hotel we stayed at. The famous hotel with the black and white bear as its symbol.
You might ask why I was so impressed. Well, I've never come across a hotel that lets you leave your luggage, but that's just the ordinary part. What's special is that they opened a room for us to shower
in. And not just one room, but two! That really won me over. When we arrived to check in, they let us check in early and even upgraded our room.
And that's not all, we asked for a late check-out, left our bags, and they opened another room for us. I'm not sure how else to express my satisfaction.
Let's go! I'll take you on a tour of this place. Let's cut to the resort itself. Turn the car up and you'll find a parking area. There will be a swimming pool and a curved gate.
After passing this point, you will find a very wide and clean white "Thong" check-in point.
Sit down and rest. The staff will bring you water. It doesn't taste very good. It's a bit too sour.
While waiting for the check-in staff, let's take a quick look around. It's very hot, so I'll just peek out to take a picture. I'll come back later in the evening.
Let's take a look at the room. When my friend booked it, it was the entry-level room, but we got upgraded to the Avista room.
This is amazing! The room is bigger and has a balcony with a partial sea view.
The five-foot bed is very comfortable. It smells new, like it hasn't been used much. My wife confirms this.
I don't have any dust allergies. Personally, I prefer a five-foot bed to a six-foot bed, probably because I'm small.
Behind the bed is the bathroom, bathtub and toilet area.
The bathroom has a glass partition in the shower area, which prevents water from splashing. I really like it. Sometimes, when there is no partition, the water splashes all the way to the door.
Coming out of the bathroom, let's take a look at the bedside table. This part will be a desk for working, and there is also a speaker.
Let's take a look at the wardrobe. It has everything you would expect from a five-star hotel, but I really like the cloth bag. I want it so much.
But it's a bit expensive. I'd better save my money.
The next section will be the refrigerator. Free, free only two bottles of water, the rest will cost money.
Inside the room, all the parts are complete. Let's take a look outside. There are two sofa beds for sleeping outside to enjoy the breeze.
I missed one thing. I forgot to take a picture of the shower equipment. I can't remember what brand it is.
As the evening approached, we called our friends to come out and play in the water and walk around the resort to soak in the atmosphere. The pool is right in front.
Let's take another look at the landmark here. What should I call it? My wife calls it a pyramid.
In the late afternoon, the area around the check-in point is also perfect for taking photos and relaxing. There are marble tables that are sunken into the water, and there are sofas set up outside.
Let's explore somewhere else. This area is for afternoon tea. We were late, so we couldn't eat. Only rooms at the Avista Club level and above can eat. If I remember correctly.
This side will be the spa area. At first, I was going to explore it, but I didn't get there. I went swimming first.
The next section is the communal swimming pool area. There are two pools, one on the top and one on the bottom. The bottom pool is larger and also has a children's pool. However, the picture shows the top pool.
Next up is the lawn.
Let's walk a little further up to see the green for the golf course. Let's also go see the high-angle view.
Looking down at the pool
Translation:
Let's go up and see the green for the fan, golf together.
Looking down to the side, I could see a bit of the swimming pool above.
It's time for fun, ladies! Let's go play in the water wheel.
After playing for a while, the place started to get crowded. Let's go down to the pool below.
The pool seems to close around 7pm. We only played for a short while before it got dark. It must be winter, so it gets dark early.
Let's go take a shower and then go have some cocktails.
After finishing my shower, I met up with my friends in the lobby to grab some snacks before heading out for dinner. We stopped to take some pictures of the pyramid at night, which was absolutely stunning lit up. I took several photos.
Walk around and take pictures. There are many angles to take pictures.
This designer is so talented! They've managed to play with light and different channels to create a stunning visual effect.
Shimmering when the light hits
Walk out to take a picture of the resort sign.
Let's go have a cocktail instead of looking at this pyramid.
Cocktails are included for guests who book rooms at the G Club Avista or above, including the Up to Noon Tree. This is a benefit of the room. The cocktails are very strong, including Mai Thai, Vesper Lady, and Phuket Long Island. They will be served until 3pm sharp, starting around 7pm if I remember correctly.
This morning, the gang of girlfriends had a program to go to Ko Mai Thon. In the morning, they had a light breakfast at the hotel's restaurant. The restaurant was very large and decorated in a Moroccan style. They forgot to take pictures of the breakfast, but there was a wide variety to choose from. However, I only had two croissants and tea to fill my stomach. I had a light breakfast to save room for a big meal on the island, as I didn't want the food to come back up while I was diving.
Before the van arrived to pick me up, I left my luggage at the lobby. I had contacted the resort in advance to ask if I could leave my bags with them and take a shower before leaving. The resort informed me that they had a shower room with amenities available. At that time, I thought it would be a regular shower room like the ones in the fitness area. But little did I know, when I returned from diving, I was stunned and surprised when the staff took me to the room. I'll tell you more about it later after I get back from the island. I also have a picture of the staff member who impressed me. I wonder if she still works there. She was beautiful, lovely, and kind enough to help me with the shower room.
After breakfast, the van will pick you up around 7:30 AM. Love Andaman called to confirm yesterday.
It takes about half an hour to get to the pier, stopping to pick up tourists at various hotels. When you arrive, check in and relax.
Between 8-9 AM, listen to the briefing and take pictures. Receive wristbands when you check in.
It takes about 15 minutes to travel from the pier to Koh Mai Thon. The journey is very fast, convenient and worth the time. You don't have to sit in a car for a long time. And you can experience the beautiful sea and comfortable atmosphere without having to take a boat for hours.
I never get tired of listening to the young guide talk about her mother, even though it's my second time here. She always has new stories to tell.
Wow!!! We've arrived in 15 minutes. The sea is so clear. It's almost like Similan Islands.
While waiting for the boat to dock, I took the opportunity to take some pictures. The water is so clear, it's a beautiful shade of blue.
Translation:
After getting off the boat to pick up our shoes, we walked straight to our accommodation. The main goal was that we were hungry. The food line was full of options.
There were sweets, bread, and snacks that weren't heavy meals, but I ate so much that I was full. Let's go see the food line and eat until we burst!
Translation:
The wife wasted no time in arranging a big set.
Translation:
I didn't take many photos as I didn't want to bother other tourists. There were only a few things available, but there was a wide variety of food to choose from.
Beverages include fruit juices, soft drinks, alcohol, and smoothies.
Let's take a look at the work of the girl gang.
Let's take a break from eating and look around. This is the honeymoon pool.
On the beach, there are sports equipment such as footballs, volleyballs, and kayaks (the kayaks are not a service provided by Love Andaman, I believe they belong to another tour company. On the island, there are only a few tours that have a concession for Koh Mai Thon.)
There is also a football field.
Most activities involve taking photos. Or if you want to lie down and watch the sea up close, there are sun loungers with umbrellas in front.
After a while of sunbathing, the girls started to get hungry. They came out to take pictures. Who could resist the temptation of the sea and the sun?
The post is full. It's been a long time since my wife has come out to take pictures of the sea. She doesn't like the sea very much, unlike me. Most of the time I take her to the sea, she won't go into the water. Just walking along the beach is great.
She must be with her girlfriends, that's why she seems more lively than usual. She mostly lives in a row house, which is one of the reasons why I chose a good hotel for her.
Every time I come to Koh Mai Thon, I am always happy because my wife is happy. Normally, I go out to the islands alone, but this time it's better than ever. If I invite her to Mai Thon, she never refuses. If I go to Similan or Tachai, I have to think hard. It's been a long time.
It's no surprise that couples come to Honeymoon Island to get engaged or enjoy a romantic getaway. After all, the name says it all!
After taking some photos, the guide called us to go up to the viewpoint and pay respects at the shrine on top. We listened to a lecture and learned about the history before going up.
A view of the harbor from the viewpoint.
The view from above is breathtaking, with the turquoise water contrasting beautifully with the deep blue sea.
The top of the mountain is about half an hour away, and it's time to eat again. Our lunch is a seafood buffet, with plenty of squid and grilled shrimp.
The original text is empty, so there is nothing to translate.
I didn't take a picture of the food line because it was very crowded and I didn't want to bother other people. Let's just look at the table.
There was shrimp skewer chili paste, which was delicious. The squid and shrimp were very fresh, chewy and bouncy. The shrimp were firm and springy. It's a pity that the dipping sauce wasn't very tasty.
But the taste was spicy, sour, and refreshing. It lacked a bit of balance. There was clear soup, spaghetti, fried chicken drumsticks, watermelon, pineapple, and ice cream. There were a lot of desserts and cakes. I can't describe them all. I forgot a lot of them.
After eating, I had to finish with a cold beer. I took a nap to let it digest.
Let's go diving together. Let's dive in front of the beach near the pier. This time I didn't bring my friend's Gopro camera. I can't share pictures of Nemo with everyone. I dived for about 45 minutes and then came up to take a shower and change clothes.
After taking a shower and changing clothes, I had another meal. This trip is really worth it. I got to do what I love, both eating and taking beautiful pictures.
After resting from diving, the guide took us to see the Love Stone and the swing in front of the island beyond the pier.
Look back at the pier.
There are many beautiful rocks and photo spots. There is also a small beach, but the guide does not recommend playing in this area.
The waves are very strong.
This swing is very popular, with people constantly coming and going.
Translation:
It's time to go back. On the way back, don't pack your things. Get ready to get back on the boat to shore.
Translation:
Bye, bye, see you again in December at Koh Mai Thon.
Translation:
After returning to shore, the van dropped us off at the hotel. We went in to get our bags and asked the front desk staff if we could shower. At first, I thought the staff would take us to the gym or spa showers, but no. They opened two new rooms for us to shower and change. How amazing is that service? They completely won me over and my friend was impressed too.
This is a basic room. I asked the staff and they said that towels, hairdryers, and toiletries are provided.
The bed will not have pillows and blankets. The resort may have opened it for showering only.
While waiting for my friend to finish showering, there is a TV to watch to kill time.
Bathroom area. There is no bathtub.
After showering, the girls' gang association met at the lobby. Let's take a picture, the sun is beautiful.
Goodbye, Avistra. I love this picture. If I have the chance, I will go back again. I have to wait for my members to return from Work and Travel first.
Goodbye, Avistra.
Arrange for a van to pick us up at five o'clock. We will go to say goodbye to Phuket at Mom Mu Dong. The food here is like home-cooked food.
Authentic southern Thai food, even though the restaurant may not be beautiful or decorated much, the taste makes up for it.
I highly recommend this restaurant. The ingredients are very fresh and the food is delicious. I can tell you that it's better than Rayong, Monday, and Kan-eng.
Of course, the recommended menu is stuffed fish, steamed sea bass with lime, seaweed salad, and shrimp skewers with chili paste.
Side dishes please. The pineapple is very sweet. The mango with fish sauce is also sweet.
Spicy stir-fried curry with bitter snails. The curry paste is very spicy and the snails are chewy.
The original text is empty, so there is nothing to translate.
The stuffed fish is an amazing menu. I don't know how they stuffed it. There are spices in the whole fish.
Salt-roasted pork may look ordinary, but the taste is extraordinary.
Translation:
Spicy seaweed salad. This dish is amazing, I highly recommend it. If you order it, be sure to eat it right away, otherwise it won't be crispy.
Steamed sea bass with lime is my favorite menu. Sweet, sour, spicy, well-balanced. Just talking about it makes my mouth water.
The shrimp paste chili dip is truly original in flavor.
Stir-fried Leang leaves with egg, a simple dish with a magical taste.
Stir-fried crab meat with curry powder, a basic dish that is not very delicious.
Translation:
Mixed vegetable curry, guaranteed to make you forget the taste you've had before. The taste is strange but delicious.
I don't remember the name of this one, but it tastes sweet and creamy.
Another menu that I can't remember the name of, fried fish. Very crispy, the taste is good.
In summary, every dish is delicious and most importantly, the price is affordable. The average cost per person is around 200 baht. If you come to Phuket, you should try some authentic southern Thai food. The food in the city at famous restaurants is not bad, but it is expensive and not very delicious compared to the price. Therefore, Mom Mu Dong is my favorite restaurant. Nowadays, if I go to Phuket, I only eat my friend's cooking. I have tried all the other restaurants and they are very ordinary in my opinion. Unless I am too lazy to buy or cook myself, I rarely eat at restaurants outside.
In conclusion, this trip was one of the most memorable ones I've ever had. The focus was on good food and comfortable accommodation. I wanted to truly relax, avoid traveling long distances, and take photos of the beautiful sea. Koh Mai Thon was the perfect destination for all of this. First, let's talk about the accommodation. Avista Hideaway is a five-star resort, and I truly mean five stars when it comes to service. If there's anything they can do for their guests, they will do it without being asked. They truly understand what real service means. The resort has everything you could need and more, including rooms, swimming pools, a spa, and even a club lounge with free afternoon tea for guests staying in club-level rooms. Compared to the price, the benefits you get are definitely worth it. The only downside is that it's not directly on the beach, but you can still see the sea from a high vantage point.
Part two Love Andaman There are probably not many tours that offer premium service like this. It's worth every baht you spend.
The much-improved punctuality of the van The guide doesn't need to be mentioned. It's a highlight of Love Andaman. Plus, they take beautiful pictures.
They take very good care of you, are happy to do things without being asked, are funny and cheerful, take you diving, and ask if you want anything else.
It's like they're happy to serve you, not just doing their job. And another highlight of Love Andaman is the food.
There are so many food options, it's really full. I heard that Love has also improved the food line. Plus, the pier at Similan, Tachai has been renovated.
I'd like to try it out and see if it's really better, but judging from the reviews in the Blue Planet room, it's beautiful and amazing. I'm waiting for a trip with my work in February.
This time, we're going to Similan with over ten people on the trip. I'll try it out and let you know how it is. As for December, I have a program to go to
Koh Rok with Raja + Mai Thon because a friend I know sent me a picture of Koh Rok to tease me. I'll go and see if it's really as good as they say. As for the downside,
The pier to Koh Mai Thon is not the same as the Similan and Tachai side. The pier there is much better.
Moo Dong's restaurant is a short and simple place with delicious food at affordable prices. The only downside is that it's a bit difficult to get to.
Thank you for all the encouragement that came to read. Who came to reply to the comment. Ready to advise on the wrong part. Thank you.
