The New Year has passed, which means... the long holiday is over and it's time to go back to work. But wait, what about our travel plans? Let's plan a trip! What are we waiting for? We all have those "traveler type" friends who are always down for an adventure, as long as they're not completely broke (eating instant noodles for every meal). Just give them a call and they'll be free in a heartbeat. That's how you know they're the real deal. We love those "traveler type" friends! 555+ ...

"Hey, on January 9th-10th, let's go celebrate Children's Day together!"

This review will be a short and informative one. If you ask what you'll get from reading it ---> "You'll get to know Khao Laem Ya, duh!" It might even end up being more interesting than Koh Samet.

Let's go! We'll go in a relaxed way, like the locals do, in a van. But before we talk about anything else, I'll divide it into two simple categories like this:

Episode 1 :: Khao Laem Ya, it's more than I thought.
Episode 2 :: Travel expenses and techniques

Let's get started. I'll be working again soon. = =

** Trip for knee osteoarthritis lol 5555+

Episode 1 :: Khao Laem Ya gives more than you think.

Saturday, January 9, 2016 05:40 AM :

Beep beep (alarm clock sound) "Ugh, morning appointment..." The trip to Rayong takes about 3 hours. If we want to arrive in style and have lunch there, we need to leave by 12pm - 3 hours = 9am. But the appointment is at 6.30am. Are we going to buy fresh ingredients at the market or something? 555+

We boarded a van at Victory Monument. We were supposed to meet at 6:30 AM, but everyone was late, especially me. I arrived at... 7:15 AM, I think (if I remember correctly). 555+ We bought tickets for 200 baht each. We were going to "Khao Laem Ya National Park". We told the driver, and we got a red bus sign like the picture. The van left soon after. Make sure you manage your seats well, or you might need to bring some smelling salts or a massage cream for your sore butt. Haha.

Around 10.40 am, I dozed off and woke up according to the schedule. I arrived at the park. It felt faster than going to Pattaya because Rayong seems to have a long straight road. The time was as I said, about 3 hours. When I arrived, I stood and took pictures of the park sign for about 15 minutes (not bragging about how long it took to take the pictures).

** The light isn't very good right now because it's raining. We're praying for the sky to clear up soon, otherwise it would be a shame.

After that, pay the entrance fee. For teenagers like us, it's 40 baht. After that, we have to walk in along the road. The distance is about 250-300 meters to reach the park office. Walk and enjoy the view. Life is good!!

The first thing we need to do is contact the park office about our accommodation. Here are the details:

  • If you bring your own tent, you have to pay 30 baht for pitching (not sure) 555+

- Tent rental in the park, one tent for 150 baht (two people) + bedding for 2 sets (140) for a total of 290 baht

We came in style, riding in a van. Why would we carry a tent and tire ourselves out? Renting is the ultimate answer.

The evidence is just a notification that you have booked a tent and then you can exchange your ID card for a tent card.

And then, as per the usual routine, we wasted 15 minutes taking photos of the sign. 555+ Then we walked and walked.

Around 11:30 AM, we arrived at the campsite. There are 2 campsites here.

1. Tamarind trees will be on the beach if you want to have a barbecue party, I recommend this place because it is far from the road and is right next to the beach, so it is quiet and peaceful.

2. The pier will have beautiful landmark points, pier, restrooms, and shops. There will be more people than at the tamarind tree, but there are many beautiful spots.

Our tents are located at point 2, the most popular spot (according to the trend). And these are the 2 tents with the best location in the park, I must say. What a lucky break!

The tent will be like this (with sleeping bags and sleeping mats).

Here is the translation:

Here are some pictures of the tent area.

The sky is still overcast, I pray that it will open up soon. I will capture some beautiful pictures. This picture was taken from the front of my tent. It's open and has a stunning view of the sea.

After that, we packed our things neatly, got ready, and walked around the area to survey it.

Just a quick bite to eat, as you can see. The campsite at the pier has both restrooms and restaurants, but the prices are a bit steep. We decided to refuel since it was lunchtime. I've included a sneak peek at our meal (the papaya salad was super spicy!).

This is a picture looking out from the store. Looking far away, you can see the two tents that belong to us (first picture).

*The only downside I found here, because I went on Children's Day, was that they allowed cars to be parked inside the tent area.

*** However, my friend who went during New Year's said there wasn't any. I guess they allowed it as a special case for Children's Day (or maybe not).

After we were full, we spent a long time sitting at the rice shop. Because the main activity after this was to walk the nature study trail, we planned to walk in the late afternoon. When we finished walking, we would be at the Laem Ya just in time for the sunset. Around 13.30, we walked from the rice shop to the dance area and took some pictures.

Get your things ready for the afternoon, including Power Blank, the cameras you'll be using, and drinking water. We'll continue our walk this afternoon for a long time. Hehe. Let's go to the nearest Landmark first, which is the pier (where we were just a while ago).

Before taking beautiful pictures, we had a lot of fun together!! (There are only pictures of friends)

Enter the beautiful picture mode!!

At the end of the path, we took some beautiful pictures. Here are some of them.

Long and winding, less content, more beautiful pictures. This is just one spot, mind you - -" Crazy camera set 555+

15:15 p.m. (approximately, I'm a bit forgetful) After a satisfying meal, it's time to embark on a long journey on the nature study trail of "Khao Laem Ya National Park", a distance of 10 kilometers. Oh, wait, no, it's 1 kilometer (approximately).

The circular path

I recommend walking back to the entrance road and starting from there. There will be information points along the way where you can learn about the area. The path ends at Khao Laem Ya in the evening, just as the sun is setting, which is a beautiful sight. However, the first part of the path is uphill, so be prepared for a bit of a challenge.

The first part will be a steep climb, but it's shady (I don't know if it's cool though, there's not much wind haha) The atmosphere is like this, but the more you walk, the more beautiful it gets.

If we keep walking, we will find...

Are you impressed? Haha, it's beautiful (if you could see it with your own eyes). It's gleaming gold, you know.

Let's see some of those dreamy, whimsical photos like the ones in novels that they like to take. I've been looking at them and trying to take some myself. 555+

Here is the translation:

Once you've finished taking pictures here, find a way down a bit. You'll reach a spot where people love to take photos.

Let's continue with the second comment.
This area is higher than the area with the Khao Laem Ya sign. There are fewer people here, and there are fewer photo angles. But we are all camera-crazy in our blood. We can create cool poses. Let's take a look. Maybe it's a cool idea because the sky and the sun are really beautiful.

After taking photos, they went down to the landmark where people like to stand.

Plus a super cute and cuddly picture, aww!

There are many stones arranged. **However, it destroys nature. Don't arrange it.

This area is where the sun sets. It gets crowded between 5:30 PM and 6:30 PM. But we arrived around 4-5 PM, so we decided to go back to our accommodation to have some cold soda. Then, when it gets dark, we'll walk back here.

The return path will follow the edge of the sea. Please be careful on the path, as some sections will have bridges and others will be solid rock.

Looking back at the campsite, it would look like this.

We came back to recharge our energy, gulping down fizzy drinks (we don't usually drink them), and ordered boxed rice to eat later tonight, as the rice shop usually closes at six o'clock. (But on Children's Day, it closes at eight o'clock as a special case) Then we waited for the sun to set and walked to Khao Laem Ya again = = We walked all the way back to the same place (the same angle but the light changed, the atmosphere of the picture also changed).

------ Take a picture of the sunset -----

The first thing to do is find a good angle to take pictures of the beautiful sunset.

The sun setting over the sea is truly beautiful ^^

As the light begins to fade, the mood of the image changes. This is where its charm lies.

Around 6:40 AM, it was time to head back. I was really satisfied with the sunset here, but I was disappointed that there were clouds on the horizon, so I couldn't see the sun setting against the sea. = =

We walked back to the tent via the same route. We prepared snacks, milk, and butter, and then ate dinner together. We ate dinner in front of the tent. There were many groups of people who came to have small parties for Children's Day as families (I was envious because I am from the provinces). Let's eat dinner now.

The atmosphere is nice. The cool breeze blows all the time. When I look up from feeding my mouth, I see the sea. I want to take a picture to show you, but it's dark. - -"

After we were full, we didn't forget to throw away our trash. Then we grabbed some snacks and walked to the bridge (at first we were sitting in front of the tent, looking at it and it was so cool). We sat there chatting for a long time, until almost 11 pm (if I remember correctly). Here are some pictures to show you how cool it was.

"Snake" jokes are everywhere! Where did they come from?

As night fell, we had to return to our tents. Everyone who came here was okay with me. That is, no matter where they set up their stoves to grill food, there was no loud noise or chaos. By 10:30 p.m., everyone had packed up and gone to sleep. There was no disturbance at all. The area around the wooden bridge where I went to sleep and sit at night was not crowded at all. People were spaced far apart, giving everyone a lot of privacy. (But I recommend coming a little earlier, as if you come late, people might already be sitting there playing.)

After setting up the tent, take a shower to freshen up and get ready for bed. There are mosquitoes in this area, so make sure to zip up the tent tightly. Here are some pictures of the bathroom and the surroundings of the tent at night (they may not be clear, as I took them quickly to give you a glimpse).
*As far as I know, there are no cars parked here on normal days. This was Children's Day (and there were none on New Year's Day, according to people who have stayed here before).

After taking a shower, I went to bed. It took a while to fall asleep because the wind was so strong. The tent was swaying all night long, I thought it was going to rain. 555+

Set the alarm for 5:50 am. Oh my friend, you woke up early. Where are you going to wake up so early? The tent is shaking too much. I thought it was raining heavily all night - -"
Hoooooww!! Good morning Khao Laem Ya in the morning

Alright!! Get up and capture beautiful images. Look at the clouds on the horizon, there are so many! A little disappointed!! (The picture might not be clear in the dark)

The later it gets, the more the sun comes out. Create a big pose 555+ Go see it.

Taking a lot of pictures

And then the light came in a beautiful circle. Good morning everyone. Yooww.

There is so much garbage in the morning. Our boss is a good person who collects garbage without expecting anything in return (we also took a few pictures) 5555+

This morning we plan to go swimming at the beach near the tent, under the tamarind tree. We wait for a while to get ready and change our clothes. After soaking up the morning sun to our satisfaction, we set off on foot, passing by restaurants. We stop for a sip of hot water in the morning, but wait a minute (I drink Ovaltine cold) 5555+

There are monkeys everywhere here, so be careful with your belongings. If they snatch something, they'll definitely drag you along! 555+

----- We've arrived! Woohoo! On the Beach! -----

I'm done, I need to catch my breath for a bit, I'm so tired lol 555+

After being full of water, farting in the water until satisfied, it was time to go back (speaking as if it was really far away, but it was very close) -- Monkey!!! Why are you so excited to splash?

They bathed, played in the water, and took pictures around the tent, like restless children.

After that, we decided to go out and fix the photos we took at the cool landmark (wooden bridge) again. Let's see if it will be fixed or will it be a mess.

The work destroys the knee health, come on, let's watch it for a long time - - 555+

This is the best. It took a month for the cameraman to get a sore back. ><

Flotation is achieved through training.

It's sad that we took so many pictures, but it's time to go home. But the fun can always happen, just think about planning a trip.

**Traveling doesn't always have to be expensive, you know. It's more about how we manage it.**

As a rugged and wild person, I carried a heavy backpack (with wet clothes for playing in the water) and walked along the same road. The others were taking the car. - -"

It's time! 11.50 am. We returned the dance sign and exchanged it for a ticket. We walked out to the front of the park to ..... We ate first - -" I'm so hungry.

Then call our trusty van to pick us up in front of the park and then - -" sit with our eyes closed for a long time until we reach Bangkok.

------ End of Episode 1------

---- I'm so sad that I have to go back to work on Monday. Ugh!!!

*** Round trip ***

Outbound -- Travel by van at Victory Monument. The ticket price is 200 baht. You can tell them that you are going to "Khao Laem Ya National Park". The van will drop you off in front of the park.

On the way back -- 1. Exit the park and take a blue songthaew to the van terminal in Rayong city center.

2. Call a van at this number.

- 2.1 If you want to have a seat for the car to pick you up before running into Ban Phe (meaning the car will drop people off in Rayong and then run to start a new queue at Ban Phe, so you can sit right away)

- 2.2 If you prioritize speed and don't want to waste time waiting, you can have the car pick you up from your home in Ban Phe.

Running route: Ban Phe ---> National Park Entrance ---> Rayong ---> Bangkok

Traveling is all about the heart. If you manage your expenses well, you can go anywhere. On this trip, we spent 895 baht (we ate a lot!). I wasn't sure if it would be enough, but the experience was definitely worth it. I highly recommend it if you have some free time. You won't regret it.
