Continuing from Part 1...
Day 5: Today is the day I've been waiting for so long... Finally, it's here... after many obstacles... hehe... Today, the guide arranged for us to leave together at 8 am. There were about 20 other tourists going with us in the same car. (The tour I bought two days ago for 480 yuan included oxygen and a jacket.) They gave us oxygen, jackets, and then took us to the car. It took about an hour to reach the entrance of the snow mountain. The guide bought tickets for everyone, and all we had to do was wait... After a while, the guide came back and told us... The authorities informed us that... Today, there are a lot of people going up after it was closed for a day. So, we won't be able to take the cable car up to the snow mountain... Um... My heart sank to my stomach... I was stunned for 5 seconds... The guide asked us what we wanted to do... Should we go back? If we go back, we'll get a full refund... If we don't go back, we'll risk it and see if we can go up... Well... We've come this far... Let's take a chance... Anyway, we're going to go... In the end, 5-6 people on the bus asked to go back, and the rest of us decided to take the risk and see what happens...
The guide took us to visit the Blue Moon Valley (蓝月谷) first, and then at half past three, we took the cable car to the snow mountain. The reason for this arrangement was to increase the chances of us being able to go up in the afternoon. We were fine with that. As for whether I was able to go up or not, it didn't really matter to me, because just seeing the Blue Moon Valley (蓝月谷) was worth it. I have a lot of photos to share, it's really beautiful... breathtakingly beautiful...
The Jade Dragon Snow Mountain range is beautiful even from afar.
Blue Moon Valley
Blue Moon Valley is about this... Next, it's time to see if we can climb the mountain. The appointment time is 3:30 PM. The guide also informed us that we can climb the mountain. Prepare your clothes and oxygen because what you are about to encounter is the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, which is over 4,500 meters above sea level!! It may cause some people to have difficulty breathing, discomfort, nausea, vomiting, and dizziness. Your body must be ready, don't get sick!
The most important thing is to bring chocolate to eat. It really helps. If you feel unwell after going up, come down immediately. Don't try to recover! As for walking, you have to walk slowly. Normally, the owner of this post walks very fast, but when she was there, she had to do everything slowly. Otherwise, the symptoms caused by the effects of being at a high altitude will definitely visit you. Because the younger student who went with her was very strong, but when she was at a high altitude, she could be bad too.
The guide then had us queue up to wait for a car to take us to the foot of the mountain to board the cable car. Looking at the sky... is it okay? Can we really go up?
The guide said that he could do it.
Fellow travelers who just met, the Chinese are lovely.
The OP is very ready and a little excited because the cable car ride is very, very high...
The cable car ride didn't take long... It started snowing heavily... The clear sky... was gone... It became dark and gloomy... The higher we went, the heavier the snow fell...
And finally arrived… but… I couldn't climb far… the snow was so heavy that I couldn't see the way… but people were still having fun playing in the snow.
While the OP...
As shown in the picture.
Let's go back.
The trip ended well (didn't it)? The junior who went with me had severe symptoms. After coming down from the mountain, she sat in the car and went back to the accommodation. She wanted to vomit and felt dizzy, so we went to eat hotpot. Did it help? She felt better, but only a little. In the end, she had to take medicine and go to bed early. It was another pity...

Day 6: Today we departed from Lijiang to Zhongdian (Shangri-La) by bus, having purchased tickets in advance. The bus departed at 8 am from the bus station (客运站) and the journey took approximately 4.5 hours. Upon arrival in Zhongdian (Shangri-La), we immediately went to purchase tickets to Daocheng (稻城) for the following day. However, the staff informed us that there were no tickets available to Daocheng (稻城) (possibly due to the tickets being sold out). Instead, they offered us tickets to Xiangcheng (乡城), with a transfer there to continue on to Daocheng (稻城). As we did not want to waste time waiting here, we decided to purchase tickets to Xiangcheng (乡城) for 85 yuan each.
After buying the tickets, we walked around looking for accommodation nearby, as we had to catch a bus to another city the next morning. After walking around, we found a hotel right next to the bus station called Shunxin International Business Hotel. It cost 120 yuan per night per room.
After checking into the accommodation, we went out to find something to eat nearby. Shangri-La is located at an altitude of over 4,000 meters above sea level, which is no different from being on a snow-capped mountain. This caused my junior to feel dizzy, nauseous, and want to vomit, as usual. As for me, the author, I am a person who likes to play high… er… I mean, I like high places, so I didn't have those symptoms.
After grabbing a bite to eat, I planned to go for a walk at the Songzanlin Monastery (松赞林寺). However, I accidentally got on the wrong bus and ended up walking around the Old Town (古城) instead. (Take bus number 7 or 3 to get to the Old Town, but be prepared for long waits for the bus.)
We only walked around the outside of the temple, not inside, because the entrance fee was so expensive. After taking photos, we took a bus to Songzanlin Monastery (松赞林寺) by taking bus number 3 and getting off at the Songzanlin Monastery (松赞林寺) stop. We arrived there right away.
At Shangri-La, we only spent half a day there and only managed to see a little bit. Another thing is that the buses take a long time to arrive, over an hour between each one. Most people come with tours, which take them directly to the tourist attractions. We were just passing through on our way to Yading. Our main purpose was Yading, so we returned to our accommodation today to rest, as we have to leave early tomorrow morning as usual.
**Expenses on Day 6: Bus ticket to Chiang Mai (Xiangcheng) 85 + food 54 + accommodation 60 + bus fare 6 = 205 RMB (1169 THB)**
At the edge of the cliff.
The picture may not look good, but what I saw with my own eyes was really beautiful.
After a 7-8 hour bus ride, I arrived in Xiangcheng (乡城), which felt like a small village with nothing much to offer. As I stepped out of the bus station, I was greeted by a swarm of drivers waiting to solicit customers. Many of them asked where I was headed, offering both private and shared rides to Daocheng (稻城). Private rides cost 300 yuan, while shared rides ranged from 50-60 yuan per person, depending on the size of the vehicle. I opted for a shared ride, which cost 60 yuan. The car was new, clean, and not crowded, and the driver was friendly. It was a good choice overall.
The car that the OP is riding in is like this.
It takes about 2-3 hours to get from Xiangcheng to Daocheng. The scenery along the way is beautiful, and I really enjoyed the view.
Today was a day of riding in the car. As for accommodation, the driver recommended a friend's newly opened guesthouse with affordable prices. He suggested we check it out, and if we didn't like it, it wouldn't be a problem. He took us to the guesthouse, and we had a look. It seemed okay, and the owner was friendly, so we decided to stay there. It's also easy to find food nearby. The guesthouse is called Daocheng Huxin (稻城互信) and costs 100 yuan per room per night.
Or if you don't like it, you can try walking around and find it yourself. There are many places to stay. But the OP was tired, so I chose this place. Hehe.
Note: As usual, there is no heater here. There is only an electric heating pad that will warm the bed, but there is hot water for bathing.)
For today, we will rest, because tomorrow we still have to travel to Yating.
**Expenses on Day 7: Transportation to Taoyuancheng 60 + Food 40 + Accommodation 50 = 150 RMB (855 THB)**
