Day 8: Yesterday, I talked to the same driver as before. He said that the fare to Yating would be 50 yuan per person, so I immediately agreed. At 9 am this morning, he picked me up at my accommodation and we set off for Yating. The journey took about 1.5 to 2 hours.
Upon reaching the entrance, known as Shangri-La Town (香格里拉镇), please note that it is referred to as such. Here, we must purchase tickets to enter Yading, which includes the price of a shuttle bus to and from Yading Village. The total ticket price is 140 yuan per person. (During peak season, which is from June to August and October, the entrance fee will be more expensive. This is almost half the price. The regular price should be around 270 yuan.)
After purchasing the ticket, we waited for the bus, which would depart every hour or according to the driver's mood, haha. We had to take the bus into Yading, which took about another hour to reach our destination. The road up the mountain was very winding, but the path was good and newly paved. Both sides of the road were full of accommodation options. And what's certain is that today, the entire village probably only had 3 tourists visiting, as no one comes during this time. It's cold, haha. But the author was free during this period, so what could be done? There was one fellow sufferer who came along with us on the same bus, an uncle from Guangdong, China. He was kind and took good care of us, as if he had come on the trip with us.
The car stopped at the destination, which was the entrance to Yading National Park. However, we didn't have any accommodation yet, and it started snowing heavily. I felt like a snow-calling doll, wherever I went, it snowed. It seemed that there was no one else besides the three of us. My uncle asked to walk up the mountain to see a nearby temple and then look for accommodation, but I couldn't do it. I couldn't climb, it was too cold, and it was snowing again. So I went to look for accommodation and got a number from the driver. He told me to try this place. Accommodation is not difficult to find, but it is difficult to find a good one. I tried calling and finally got a place to stay... It was a place to sleep. Just to sleep. Don't even mention the bathroom, there was no water. Today, we just let ourselves go. It was difficult to communicate with them because they spoke a local dialect. They are Tibetan people. They are kind, but we couldn't understand each other very well. T^T It's okay, for the sake of beauty... I can endure it. It's good that they have electric beds... Otherwise, I don't know what my life would be like. Ugh... It's so cold, it's freezing to the core. No restaurants were open at all. Fortunately, two small grocery stores were open, so we bought instant noodles to boil and eat to survive. Tonight... We can't drink too much water because there is no water to flush it down. I forgot to mention that the accommodation cost 100 yuan/room. It seemed like a room that was not yet finished, but it was still possible to sleep in. It was cool. 555 After eating instant noodles, we quickly took some fever-reducing medicine and went to bed early because we couldn't go anywhere. Today, we went to bed at 7 pm... Oh, it's good that my uncle came to stay with us. I felt inexplicably warm. My uncle also stayed in the room next door. Today, that's the end of the trip. There's nothing to do. 555
**Expenses on Day 8: Transportation to Yading 50 + Yading entrance fee 140 + Accommodation 50 + Food 14 = 254 RMB (1448 THB)**
Day 9: We woke up early today to a bright and clear sky, which was lucky for the three of us. We went outside to wait for the shuttle bus to take us to the park (we were staying at Yading Village (亚丁村), and the park entrance is about 10 kilometers away. If we walked, it would probably take 2-3 hours to get there, as it's an uphill and downhill path). We waited for the bus at the bus stop from 7:30 am, and went to find something to eat at a shop while we waited. It was past 9:00 am, and we still hadn't seen a single bus pass by. So we decided to walk down the road, figuring the bus would come eventually. We took photos as we walked, and we got a lot of beautiful views.
After walking for about an hour, we started looking for a car. It was going to take too long. And then a car passed by... but... but... he drove right past us... didn't pick up the three of us T^T. I mean... the car was full, right? Let's keep walking. What are we waiting for? It should take another 2 hours to reach the entrance. A dog came from nowhere and ran towards us as if it was going to bite us... until a villager came to chase it away... And there was an uncle who protected us. It was so touching. At this point, we walked for a while longer, and then a car came by again. He stopped to let us in. He said that the car was full earlier, so he couldn't pick us up. He also said that we were walking very fast. Oh... brother... We got in the car and it took less than 10 minutes to reach the park entrance. Wow... that was fast.
Our destination is the Milk Sea (牛奶海) and the Five-Color Sea (五色海). This is something we have been looking forward to for a long time. After entering the park, we started to climb the mountain. At Zhaguanbeng (扎灌崩), there will be a shuttle bus to take you to Luorong Niu Farm (洛绒牛场). The round-trip fare is 50 yuan per person (if you walk, it is 6 km). I forgot to mention that Yading is about 4500-4700 meters above sea level, higher than all the places we have been to before. Therefore, altitude sickness may occur. You need to walk slowly than usual and bring plenty of chocolate with you. It really helps.
The car stopped at the Tung Luang Lon, and there were no more cars to continue. We had to walk another 5 km to reach the Milk Sea. Normally, or during the high season, there are horses to ride to the Milk Sea, but the service costs 300 yuan per person. I feel sorry for the horses. If possible, walk there yourself.
We just walked around taking pictures. Actually, coming during the winter is also beautiful in a different way. The dry grass and trees look classic, haha.
After walking for almost two hours, I stopped to eat chocolate and take pictures along the way. It's already 2 pm now. The officials informed us that the shuttle service ends at 4 pm. If we don't make it back in time, we have to walk back ourselves. It's 2 pm now, and we haven't even reached the halfway point. Along the way, we met a group of five or six uncles walking back. They kindly warned us, "Keep an eye on the time. The shuttle leaves at 4 pm. And if you want to walk to the Milk Sea and the Five-Colored Sea, it will take another 3 hours to get there. Also, the path from here on is very steep and icy, and the ground is slippery. It's very dangerous. You have to walk slowly. We didn't make it either, so we're going back early for fear of missing the shuttle." ... Um... We haven't even reached the halfway point after walking for two hours? ... Heartbroken... Sad... It took 2 hours to walk here, and it will take another 2 hours to walk back. We should be able to catch the last shuttle just in time. There's nothing we can do but turn around and walk back to where we started. We came but didn't reach our destination... It's sad... They closed it early, so we couldn't walk there. At first, I didn't quite believe the uncles, so I walked on to see for myself. I wanted to know if it was really steep and dangerous. I had to see it with my own eyes. It was clear... It was obvious... I couldn't go any further at this point. I hurried back. It's a good thing I came during the winter season. The snow has turned into ice everywhere. I once slipped and hit my tailbone on the ground because of this kind of surface. It's okay to go back.
But there are plenty of pictures, pictures are the best way to record travel memories.
While walking back, I got the same view, but no matter how I look at it, it's still beautiful. I took pictures of everything, from trees to blades of grass. I love it. It's beautiful in its own way.
It was definitely worth the trip…but if I have the chance, I'll definitely come back again.
Because of love for "him", I am willing to endure...no matter how difficult it may be. 555555
The trip ended well (didn't it) hehe.. I took a shuttle bus to Shangri-La Zhen (the same place where I bought the ticket) and called the same car to pick me up and take me back to Daocheng. Today I have to stay in Daocheng for one night because tomorrow we will fly back to Beijing. The fare is still the same, 50 yuan per person. I went back to the same accommodation, Daocheng Huxin.
**Expenses on Day 9: Park shuttle 50 RMB + food 35 RMB + return bus to Taichung 50 RMB + accommodation 50 RMB = 185 RMB (1055 THB)**
--------------------
The last day of this trip, I didn't want to write, but it's only one more day, so I'll write a little more, haha.
Day 10: Today, I had to leave for the airport at 6 am. I called the same driver to pick me up, but I told him to go by sharing, 50 yuan per person, not to rent the whole car, let him find customers himself.
It took about 1 hour to get to Daocheng Airport. The driver told me that this airport is the highest airport in the world, at an altitude of about 4411 meters above sea level, and the whole airport has only one plane!!!
I have to say that it is located in a very beautiful area (again, I'm not bragging at all).
The flight ticket that the OP bought requires a transfer in Chengdu - from Chengdu to Beijing.
Today, I boarded the plane around 8:45 am. The flight was delayed by 20 minutes. As soon as the plane took off, oh my god... how could it be so beautiful? I saw the scenery above, looking down there were only snow-capped mountains everywhere. I secretly took some pictures to share with you. I used my mobile phone to take them, so they are not very clear.
I was so impressed... After about 30 minutes of flying, the plane announced that it would be landing at Diqing Airport (迪庆机场) for passengers to shop and relax in the lounge for about 20-30 minutes before being called back to board the flight to Chengdu... Why? I was a little confused as to why we were stopping, but once we landed, I didn't want to wonder anymore. I took some pictures instead. This airport is so beautiful! There are even places to stop and use the restroom and buy souvenirs. Hehe. (Honestly, I don't really know why we stopped.)
All around are snow-capped mountains.
After a full rest, I boarded the plane again and flew directly to Chengdu. When I arrived in Chengdu, I had to wait for a connecting flight for 7 hours. 555 I just sat and lay down at the airport, viewers... I didn't go anywhere... I waited for the flight at around 9:30 pm... I arrived in Beijing around midnight and arrived at the university safely!
**Expenses on the 10th: Airfare 1390 + Airport transfer 50 + Food 73 + Taxi back to university 45 = 1558 RMB (8880 baht)
Expenses 12,591 baht
Round-trip airfare: 11,793 baht
Total trip expenses (including round-trip airfare to Beijing): 24,384 baht
Note: Travel expenses for each person will vary depending on the price of the flight ticket and the starting point. Therefore, the author will not include the cost of the flight ticket in the budget. The main expense is only around 12,000 baht. If you are traveling from Thailand, you should try to find tickets from Thailand during promotions. You might get a cheaper price than the author!
