Beat the Heat: A Weekend Getaway to Srinakarin Dam Floating Resort
This review is for those seeking respite from the scorching summer heat. Our destination: Srinakarin Dam Floating Resort in Kanchanaburi, a perfect escape for a group of friends. With a total of 7-8 members, we embarked on a 2-day, 1-night adventure (staying overnight on the floating resort) over a relaxing weekend. Get ready to dive in and cool off!
Let's get to know "Srinakarin Dam" first. "Srinakarin Dam" is the first multipurpose dam of the Mae Klong River Basin Development Project, with the main purpose of generating electricity. It is built across the Khwae Yai River at Ban Chao Naen, Tha Kradan Subdistrict, Si Sawat District, Kanchanaburi Province. Originally named... "Chao Naen Dam"
The Journey... We started our journey from Bangkok on a relaxed Saturday morning. We drove towards Kanchanaburi Province, where the "Srinakarin Dam" is located, approximately 210 kilometers from Bangkok. The journey by car takes about 2 and a half hours. We took the Phetkasem Road or Buddha Monthon Road to enter "Kanchanaburi" province and continued on Highway 3199 through Lat Ya Subdistrict and Tha Thung Na Dam. After another 60 kilometers, we arrived at the "Srinakarin Dam".
Most of the time on Saturdays and Sundays or long weekends, there are a lot of tourists interested in staying overnight on the floating houses. If you are planning to come, you should contact them in advance. Because I also contacted various floating houses on Saturdays and holidays like this, the houses are almost full everywhere. There are many operators, styles, and prices to choose from at the Srinakarin Dam. But you have to contact and book in advance.
After calling to book the raft in advance.. We came to use the service of "Nantana Raft". After contacting several operators, the answer from the other end of the line was "Full!". We called each raft to ask, but luckily, Nantana Raft was still available. (Almost missed it!) Our raft was a small one, just the right size for our group. On the raft, there are kitchen utensils, pots, pans, plates, bowls, spoons, gas stoves, and charcoal stoves available. You can cook on the raft at your convenience. Or, if you need anything extra, just call and let them know in advance. The raft might be able to prepare it for you (if available), such as fresh ingredients, meat, fresh vegetables, drinking water, ice, etc. .. We split the cost and it only came out to a few hundred baht per person.
For friends who love to travel on a budget, come say hello and follow us.

2:00 PM. Our raft is behind this one. The members have arrived and are helping to unload the luggage onto the raft. The weather is good today. The cool breeze is blowing very well.
"Panan Thana" is located before "Lake Heaven". If you're driving and not paying close attention, you might miss it and end up at "Lake Heaven". Make sure you enter the correct alley, as we got lost and drove around for a while before finding the raft.
Before boarding the raft, please contact the raft owner (if any) to purchase various items. You don't have to go out and buy them yourself, or if you have already prepared them, that would be great.
Once everything is ready, it's time to get on the raft.
This afternoon, the weather is perfect. Our small boat is slowly pulling our raft along. The atmosphere is so relaxing.
During this time, we sat and played, enjoying the breeze and the atmosphere. They will then drag our raft to the raft tie-up point.
"Fellow travelers,"
The boat continues to tow our raft. It will take about half an hour to reach our raft's mooring point.
The small boat slowly dragged us to the shore. We should be arriving at our raft soon. It took about 30 minutes to drag it out.
Our raft parking spot. From the initial arrival, it looked chaotic. Now, we've dragged it far from the other rafts, and it feels much more peaceful. The atmosphere is great, the air is comfortable, and it's very tempting to jump into the water right now!!
The atmosphere of "dusk" like this, I can only say one word, "absolutely amazing…"
"The sun sets below the horizon."
The sun has set. The weather is nice, the sun is not hot. I think I'll be able to go swimming soon.
**Before playing in the water...** The cooking team has to do their duty first. Hehe!! There is a small kitchen on the raft, complete with cooking equipment. The first menu is "Tom Yum". We have already bought fresh ingredients and prepared them before getting on the raft. Let's cook on the raft!
This is... our "trip chef" (makeshift chef). He will be showing off his Iron Chef skills by cooking for us. Whether it's edible or not, we'll just have to wait and see. 55+
The next menu is "fried fish" with homemade dipping sauce. Spicy!
For other food items, I bought various ready-made stir-fries and curries, so I don't have to waste time cooking. As for the unemployed members... they got ready to change their clothes and jump into the water. We've come all this way, so if we don't get in the water, people will say we didn't really come here... haha..!!
For your safety, there are life jackets available on the raft. Before getting into the water, you should put on a life jacket. For your safety..!
Wear a life jacket...!! There will be like a small mat to sit and play in the water. There are paddles too..
Before getting into the water, we need to warm up our bodies a little, haha.
Paddling a boat... is like exercising in the evening, surrounded by mountains.
Playing in the water to our heart's content, as if this moment belongs only to us.
After playing in the water until we were exhausted, we came up to drink some water to quench our thirst and prepare to have dinner together tonight.
Let's try the home-cooked dinner and see if it's edible. 55+
7:00 p.m. It's dinner time amidst the chirping of crickets and fireflies, haha... with the neon lights providing illumination...(light from the battery) Getting to sit and eat a meal in this kind of atmosphere for once is... pretty good, you know. The atmosphere with friends is lively, isn't it!
After we finished our meal, we sat around and talked about old times, just like a bunch of old folks. Haha!
And tonight, of course, there will be a party!! The recreation team has prepared equipment for singing, dancing, and making music in a light and chill way.
"Party night and fun..hehe!"
Let's talk about our sleeping quarters... On the raft, there is 1 bedroom that can accommodate 2-3 people. For those who want to experience the atmosphere, you can spread a mattress and sleep outside. The weather is cool and comfortable, not too cold. The wind is pleasant. As for the concern about mosquitoes, there is no problem at all. It's nice to sleep together like this once in a while... It brings back memories of our school days... For those who can't sleep, you can have a chill party and stargaze. Sit back, sip your drink, and watch the stars. It's so beautiful...
Just a few hours later... Morning of the new day... Day 2 It seems that some members are still sleeping soundly, not wanting to wake up at all. Haha.
Waking up early like this... Taking in the fresh air is so refreshing! The morning atmosphere is so good...
Sitting and letting go of emotions, admiring nature.
The morning atmosphere around the raft.
"Waking up to a morning chat, surrounded by a circle of breakfast. " Now, whoever isn't awake will have to wake up, because of the sound of the conversation. In the mornings, there will be aunties rowing small boats to sell goods to the various floating houses. Various snacks, youtiao, coconut milk rice cakes, soft-boiled eggs, coffee, etc. things like that.
The sun rises, the sun begins to get stronger.
**Soak up the morning atmosphere for a little longer...** Around 11:30 AM, the boat will come to tow our raft back. So let's soak it all in for now.
Opened a small "live concert" with Singto Numchok, haha
" ..Relax and chill.."
And... It was late morning, and no one had showered yet... so we had to shower before we left. We played in the water one more time as we still had some time left.
This kind of weather... is perfect for jumping into the water... It's more fun to jump in than in the evening, haha.
It's been a while since I've been able to jump in the water and play with my friends like this. It's been so much fun!
Important..!! For your safety, don't forget to wear a life jacket.
That jump is super cool! But it's really "painful", my friend!
More fun than anyone else...!!
Playing in the water... so refreshing... It's like taking a shower before going home, haha!
Soaking in the cool water until you don't want to… get out of the water at all..!!
This is the main character from the movie "Cast Away" !!
And... Time flies when you're having fun. 11:30 AM. The boat came to tow our raft back. During this time, we sat and soaked up the natural atmosphere before returning to the hustle and bustle of the city. There was still a lot of rice porridge left from breakfast, a big pot, so we continued to eat it. It was a lunch break while the raft was being towed back... another meal saved!
The rafts are now being towed back. You can see many of them returning to shore.
We're almost there... after not dragging it for long.
We're leaving now.. Feeling a little to moderate regret.. because we don't know when we'll be able to experience this kind of atmosphere again!
**12:00 p.m.** Right at noon, we arrived back at the shore... *at the same spot where we boarded on the way there*. We prepared to unload our belongings from the raft and head home.
This trip was... a short Saturday-Sunday trip "Jumping into the water, sleeping on a raft" at Srinakarin Dam, Kanchanaburi Province. It was a lot of fun. I had a lot of fun with my friends, cooking and eating together. It was a different kind of experience. Jumping into the water and playing together was so much fun! Friends who are interested can come and visit. In this hot weather, it's perfect for jumping into the water. It's not far from Bangkok. It's another trip, another place that you must visit at least once. Finally, I would like to end this short review with this short trip. Thank you all for watching!
