There are only a few resorts where you can sleep in the middle of a rice field and be lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves. One of them is here, la a natu bed & bakery in Pranburi District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province (pronounced La-a-natu, not La-a-natu. I made a mistake already 5555). Where is LA A NATU? Let's get to know each other.

The name of the resort, la a natu (ลา –เอ–นาตู), is likely derived from the French phrase "L'art et Nature," which translates to "art and nature." This aligns with the resort's concept, which states that:

"La a natu bed & bakery is a small, stylish beachfront resort. The front of the resort is a private beach, while the back is a terraced rice paddy (alternating with other crops depending on the season). The atmosphere is relaxed, quiet, and peaceful. The buildings, architecture, design, and interior decoration are a blend of local and modern, with an emphasis on harmony and environmental friendliness."

The resort is located on the beach of Pranburi - Sam Roi Yot, approximately 230 kilometers from Bangkok. The road is very convenient. If you are coming from Bangkok, when you reach the Cha-am - Pranburi bypass, you can take the bypass road directly to Pranburi. It will take less time and you don't have to go through Cha-am or Hua Hin. Epring and Yam Muay drove from Rama 2 Road on Friday afternoon and it only took them 3 hours to reach the resort.

Upon arrival at La a Natu, the staff will have us park our car at the parking lot. Then, they will transport our luggage by golf cart to the resort. Wow! This is great. No more honking horns or cars driving in and out. This concept may be due to the resort's limited space, or perhaps it's an intentional effort to eliminate distractions from the resort. Whatever the reason, I love it! ^_^

Welcome

As the golf cart brought us to the guest drop-off point, we walked along a small wooden path flanked by miniature rice paddies. A sense of tranquility, reminiscent of the Thai countryside, began to envelop us. Upon reaching the lobby, the receptionist greeted us with a smile and offered us cool towels to wipe our faces. It seemed la a natu was already starting to work its magic on us. 55555

The lobby is stylishly decorated with a mix of bamboo and polished concrete, creating a peaceful and comfortable atmosphere. The breeze keeps the space cool, and a central pillar made of bamboo panels extends to the ceiling. Above the lobby, there is a restaurant on the 2nd floor and a swimming pool on the 3rd floor.

After checking in, the golf cart driver brought our bags to us just in time. Then, the receptionist and bellboy took us to our room, which was right next to the lobby. The name of the room is "Khao Fang 8".

Upon entering the room, I was surprised to find the air conditioning already turned on. The staff explained, "We turn on the air conditioning in advance for rooms that have been booked. We do this shortly before the guest's arrival time, along with a welcome drink in the refrigerator." As she spoke, she took out a welcome drink, a pineapple juice in a strangely shaped glass, and handed it to me. Wow! Isn't that a bit too much attention to detail? This small gesture is starting to have a big impact.


Rooms

Calling it a room wouldn't be quite right, because our accommodation is more like a hut raised on stilts. The structure is made of wood and the roof is thatched with palm leaves. Upstairs is the bedroom and bathroom, separated by a balcony walkway. Underneath the house is a wooden platform with soft cushions for comfortable lounging, and there's even a bathtub for us to soak in.

What I liked about the room was the **stylish bed linen, which was adapted from brightly colored "pha khao ma" fabric, and the pillows, which came in both soft and firm options.** The light bulbs on the ceiling were also adapted to use sieves and mosquito nets to keep out insects. The light bulbs in the room were yellow to reduce the emission of UV light that attracts insects at night.

The rooms are stylish, blending local charm with modern amenities.

The room is equipped with standard amenities, including a TV, refrigerator, and DVD player. Upon opening the refrigerator, I was surprised to find six bottles of drinking water! This is a stark contrast to the usual two bottles provided by most hotels (which is hardly enough, especially in a tropical country like ours).

Signs will be posted to inform guests of the designated guest areas.

**The detached bathroom is also very interestingly designed.** It uses a combination of bamboo walls and polished concrete to create a harmonious look. No need to worry about privacy, as the shower area is enclosed by a curved concrete wall surrounded by woven bamboo and a curtain to prevent splashing. Additionally, there is a hairdryer, pajamas, an umbrella, and toiletries provided. The soap and shampoo have a natural scent that adds to the ambiance.

Oh... In the bathroom, there will be woven sandals for us to wear and walk around. They are comfortable and fit the theme well.

Resort Atmosphere

This resort is located right on the beach in Pranburi, facing west. Although the sand is not as white and fine as the Andaman Sea in the south, it may be a bit dull, but any sea is atmospheric. Even though the sky was a bit cloudy when I went because it was the rainy season, it was good that I didn't have to grab a hat to block the sun. Just put on some sunscreen and we can lie down and enjoy the sea breeze in the afternoon and evening.

While we were out for dinner, the staff would sneak in and turn on the lights in the room for us, pull down the blinds, prepare the bed for sleep, and even put the little buffalo doll on the bed to welcome us.

How about the food?

Most of the time, when I travel to the provinces, I prefer to drive out and find something delicious to eat for dinner. I believe that the hotel food is probably made for foreigners, and the taste won't be authentic.

Stir-fried Shrimp with Red Curry Paste: Another delightful dish of stir-fried shrimp with red curry paste, made with high-quality ingredients and a flavorful curry paste. The shrimp are firm and juicy, making for a very enjoyable meal. Even those who don't like spicy food can enjoy this dish, as the spice level is mild. Yai Muay had no problem with the spiciness, which is only at a primary school level. Hehe.

Three-Flavored Chili-Glazed Fish: Crispy-fried fish drizzled with a sweet and sour sauce, sprinkled with crispy garlic and holy basil. This dish offers a perfect balance of spicy, sour, and sweet flavors. It's a must-try, and the large portion is enough to satisfy two people.

Tom Yum Goong: This is a dish that I normally wouldn't order at a hotel restaurant because I believe it's overpriced and the taste wouldn't be authentic. But this bowl... I have to call it "Boiled Shrimp with Tom Yum Sauce." Wow!!! The amount of shrimp is insane. Fresh, sweet shrimp swimming in a rich, spicy Tom Yum broth. I give it 5 stars!

More about breakfast

Breakfast here is served à la carte (but you can order as many times as you like). When you arrive at your table, tell the staff your room number and they will give you a breakfast menu to choose from. There is a wide variety of options available, divided into categories: Beverages, Homemade (waffles, pancakes), Global (international dishes such as fried eggs with ham, omelets), and Local (rice porridge, rice omelets, fried rice).

The breakfast here was incredibly impressive, thanks to the high-quality ingredients used. From the premium ham and lean bacon to the homemade bread and the incredibly delicious waffles and pancakes, everything was top-notch. Epring even went back for seconds on the waffles! We were all so full that we didn't need to eat again until lunchtime.

So delicious that I had to ask for more.

It's a shame that we had to check out before trying the famous Afternoon Tea Set, which is only available from 2 pm to 5 pm. I'll definitely try it next time I have the chance.

Service

This resort has the best staff training that I've ever encountered. Words like "indifferent" or "irritated" are non-existent here. Every staff member provided us with excellent service, with good manners, attentiveness, smiles, and a genuine willingness to help. We would constantly hear "Of course, sir" and "My pleasure, madam" from the staff. Whenever we walked past a staff member, we would always be greeted with a smile and a friendly word.

Even on the day of check-out, with E-pring and Yai Muai having many bags, when they were checking out, the 3 staff members who were repairing the water pipes in the area rushed to help lift the bags for us to send to the lobby without having to wait for us to call.

We give you a full 5-star rating for our service.

So there's nothing to complain about at all!?

There are two areas where I would like to offer constructive criticism for La A Natu:

  1. Insufficient shade: If guests wish to enjoy the atmosphere in the beachfront seating area, they are forced to spend the afternoon inside their villas due to the lack of shade.
  2. Lack of privacy in the villas: The use of bamboo walls creates gaps that allow for easy peeking and may result in insects or reptiles disturbing guests.
