The gist of it is that I want to travel, but... I've been to the beach a lot, so I'm looking for somewhere else to go that isn't the beach. I don't want to drive far, just within a 3-4 hour radius of Bangkok.

Coincidentally, Yai Muai invited us to visit "Mulika Town R.S. 124" for a day trip. However, we thought that Kanchanaburi has many other attractions, so we decided to plan a 2-day, 1-night trip instead of following a guidebook. Let's explore Kanchanaburi together! Where is Kanchanaburi?

Kanchanaburi is located in which region, students? Haha... Everyone knows that Kanchanaburi is in the Western region. From Bangkok, it takes only a short time to reach Kanchanaburi. If there is no traffic, it takes about 2 hours. But if you drive comfortably, it takes 3 hours.

Our usual route is Highway 4 (Phetkasem Road) from Bangkok to Nakhon Pathom, then switch to Highway 323 to Ratchaburi and Kanchanaburi. If you're worried about getting lost, I recommend using Google Maps for directions. It's a good idea to make the most of your phone.
What will we do on our 2-day, 1-night trip?

Based on our travel style, we have a concept of delicious food, photogenic attractions, and stylish (but affordable) accommodation. Our plan is as follows:

1. Have a delicious lunch at "Farm Cafe' de Kalawela"

Image

2. Immerse yourself in the "Mulika R.S. 124" experience, complete with our pre-planned concept, and enjoy an extended show.

Alas, poor Ah Mui! Her fate is truly pitiful. She has fled her home in China, carrying only a mat and a pillow, hoping to start a new life in Siam. What will become of her? I can't help but imagine exciting plot twists as Ah Mui invites me to visit "Mulika Town R.S. 124" in Kanchanaburi. Everyone who goes there dresses in traditional Thai clothing, pretending to be people from the past and taking photos. Oh, I must go!

Image

3. Spend a night at the stylish "Hin Tok River Camp" safari camp by the river.

4. Lunchtime Delights: A Stop at "Dada Roti Oong" near Srinakarin Dam

For a delicious lunch, we made a stop at "Dada Roti Oong" near Srinakarin Dam.

5. Beat the Heat with a Dip in a Waterfall: Exploring Erawan Waterfall (A Prank on the Shy Girl)

6. After enjoying the sights, pay a visit to "Tiger Cave Temple," one of Thailand's most stunning temples, for good fortune.

This program will be like this. Let's follow the pictures and review together.

"Because traveling makes our world bigger," this sentence made my girlfriend and I hold hands and set out to explore the world. We created a small page called "Escape Work and Travel" and a blog called www.ibreak2travel.com
Reading to this line, we want to say... Looking back several years ago when we first met, "I was a tourist who had to work a regular job, and my girlfriend was a regular worker who wanted to travel sometimes." We were so different, but when we started dating, our differences found a balance that led us to the point where we wanted to create a page to take our fellow working friends on trips with us. We can go, anyone can go like us.
Please support our store by clicking Like on our page, it will encourage us and let us know that you are always there for us. "Work hard, know how to travel."

Starting with... Farm Cafe' De Kalawela

A health-focused restaurant with an incredibly long name serves fresh, delicious food, including vegetables grown on-site. The coffee and other beverages are also tasty, earning it a solid three-star rating. However, the main attraction is the restaurant's vintage farm-style decor, which offers numerous stylish photo opportunities.

Farm Cafe' de' Kalavela: A Vintage English Farm Experience

Nestled in the heart of Tha Muang district, Kanchanaburi, Farm Cafe' de' Kalavela offers a charming escape into a vintage English farm setting. Spanning 200 square meters, this cafe seamlessly blends the allure of a cozy restaurant with the rustic charm of a countryside retreat.

The cafe's concept is clear: a haven for both food and coffee enthusiasts, where the ambiance evokes a bygone era of English farm life. The owner's meticulous attention to detail is evident in the cafe's decor, creating an upscale atmosphere with numerous photogenic corners.

In addition to the stylish design that appeals to social media enthusiasts, the restaurant also has an organic vegetable garden that provides fresh ingredients for their dishes. We ordered several dishes to try, and we were impressed by the delicious flavors. Let's take a closer look and I'll tell you more about it.

The decor emphasizes a vintage aesthetic.

If the girl spreads out the menu like this, it means that this meal will be a heavy one.

Image

In addition to the front-of-house area, there are several tables in the back of the restaurant. The decor is beautiful and the air conditioning is cool and comfortable.

We appreciate the color scheme chosen for the rear seating area.

Stir-fried fragrant rice with "Nam Prik Long Reua" (served with sweet pork and salted egg, and stir-fried vegetables) - 90 baht. There are many great photo spots here. If you don't want your girlfriend to get cranky during your trip, make sure to take lots of pictures of her.

2. Visit "Mulika 124" with our prepared concept and enjoy the long shows.

Alas, Ah Mui... Your fate is truly pitiful. You have fled from China, carrying only a mat and a pillow, hoping to build a new life in Siam... What will become of you?

We secretly came up with a fun plot when Yai Muai invited us to visit "Mulika Town R.S. 124" in Kanchanaburi. Seeing everyone going there dressed in Thai costumes and acting like they were from the past, taking pictures, we thought, "We have to go!"

Looking back at the face of the Chinese girl, I thought that a girl with such an international face would not fit in with a Thai dress. So, if you want to have the most fun, you need a concept. Therefore, our trip to Mallika City is in the style of "A Chinese girl lost in the capital at Mallika City in 1901". Let's follow along.

Want to know who Yai Muai really is? Read the full review here: https://goo.gl/5OUN5w

An aerial view of Mallika R.E. 124 reveals a spacious area that can be comfortably explored on foot within a day. Upon entering the main gate, visitors encounter the Saphan Han Bridge, followed by a vibrant commercial district with colorful buildings. Further exploration leads to traditional Thai houses, floating houses, and a demonstration rice paddy. The far right of the image showcases a cluster of Thai houses where visitors can savor royal cuisine and enjoy cultural performances. For a comprehensive review, please refer to the following link: https://goo.gl/5OUN5w

The entrance to Mallika R.E. 124 City. If you look closely, you will see that there is also a rickshaw service available.

To enter the city, you must purchase a ticket. The April 2017 promotion is as follows:
- Adults 200 baht/ Children, seniors and disabled 100 baht
- Admission + Dinner + Show Price Adults 700 baht Children 350 baht (10% discount promotion)
Note: Children - Height below 100 cm. Free entry / Children height from 100 - 130 cm. and seniors - Age 70 years and over use children's price

Today we choose to visit the Full Option type. Admission + Dinner + Show Full price 700 baht but 10% discount to 630 baht per person. That means if you deduct the admission fee of 200 baht, it will be 430 baht for dinner and show. Hey!! I think this is worth it. Normally, a good dinner costs 300-400 baht per person. And you get to see a show too. So let's go.

Image

To enter the city, one must first pass the gatekeeper. The cart puller waits to collect tickets at the entrance, while the white-clad man with a fine mustache is the city lord.

Image

Let's get ready to board the tow truck.

The ancient Thai oxcart bears a resemblance to its Chinese counterpart.

Once on the tow truck, they will tow it into the city.

From the gate, the cart puller will pull the cart inside. Let's walk further to Saphan Han.

"May I try a bite? My house doesn't have any."

"If you don't buy it, you can't taste it this much!!!"

Grandma met Auntie Mui, who kindly offered her free snacks.

The beautiful Thai fabrics are all here. At this point, Ah Mui said loudly, "I want to wear a Thai dress, I want to be a Thai girl."

In just a moment, Ah Mui, our lost in Bangkok, was transformed into Khunying Tidti of Talad Noi.

Note: In the dressing room, there are accessories and umbrellas available for borrowing. Please be careful not to run or jump around, as this could cause the accessories to fall and break. You will be responsible for any damages.

Thrilled to finally wear a traditional Thai dress, she was in high spirits and ready to return to Mallika City as Lady Tidtee of Talad Noi.

Lady Tidti has arrived.

Back on the wagon again, no one remembers.

The commercial district in Mallika City.

This historical market offers a fascinating glimpse into the past, with vendors selling a wide variety of authentic goods from the era. All the merchants in this district are employees of Mallika City, assigned roles to bring the city to life. Some act as merchants, others as guards, and still others as farmers. Each individual undergoes training in the authentic lifestyle of the 5th reign to ensure the most realistic portrayal possible.

This bustling district is renowned for its fragrant offerings. Each shop boasts an array of traditional aromatic goods, including fragrant flowers, perfumed powders, and scented candles. Visitors can not only purchase these treasures but also witness live demonstrations of their creation.

Jasmine and champaca flowers are dried on trays to be used in making fragrant garlands.

Scented sachets made from various materials.

The staff at Muang Boran, who have been assigned the role of shopkeepers at the Bu Nga shop, recommend this Thai dessert shop as a must-visit. The shop offers three types of Thai desserts that are rarely found nowadays: Thong Ek, Cha Mongkut, and Saneh Chan.

The three girls are selling Thai desserts: Thong Ek, Thong Yip, and Thong Yod.

We love Thai desserts.

A traditional Thai single-story house with a rice field and a scarecrow stands out in the evening light.

A buffalo pen sits beneath a large tree in front of the house.

Lady Tidti was thoroughly enjoying the lush greenery in front of her house.

Traditional Thai houses often have a pavilion by the water, which serves as a pier for boats to embark and disembark.

This is a Welcome Drink that we really like. It's so refreshing. Butterfly pea and lemon juice.

This set is for 4 people. We can refill rice and dishes as much as you want.

Regarding the performance of Thai classical dance

The performance consists of eight acts spanning one hour, commencing at 7:00 PM. As we watched the show, we savored a delectable meal. This unique experience of enjoying traditional Thai dance alongside a royal feast is a rare treat.

3. Go glamping in style at the riverside "Hin Tok River Camp".

Mini Review
If you don't like sleeping in the wild, are very hygienic, don't like insects, or are picky, you might not like this place.

This is a safari-style camp accommodation located in the middle of the forest. It's a place for nature lovers and water enthusiasts. If you like this kind of thing, come here, you won't be disappointed.
The bedrooms and bathrooms are okay, but there are few electrical outlets, the beds are a bit hard, the air conditioning is moderately cool, the wifi signal is not very good, and there is almost no DTAC signal. The breakfast buffet is of good quality. The service is average, some of the staff are not very friendly, but the security guards are very good.

.
Highlights:
- Bonfire barbecue (we didn't try it because we left Mallika City late)
- Natural mineral pool and floating raft, which we loved!
- Cycling around the Had Ngiew community (free bike rental)
- Feeding sheep

4. For a delicious lunch, we stopped by "Dada Roti Oong" near the Srinakarin Dam.

For those who have heard of the famous Roti Oong at the Si Nakharin Dam, today we will take you to get to know Dada Roti Oong, a restaurant located at the Si Nakharin Dam, on the way to Erawan Waterfall.

Mini Review

1. The green curry with beef had a rich and spicy flavor. However, the beef was a bit tough. Those who do not enjoy spicy food should avoid this dish.

2. The chicken massaman curry had a rich flavor, slightly sweet, with tender and well-cooked chicken.

3. Roti Oong, marketed as having a unique aroma from being baked in a clay oven, was underwhelming. The aroma was not particularly strong, and the dough tasted ordinary.

4. Milk tea and coffee... You don't have to order them.

5. The food was slow, even though the restaurant was not crowded.

6. Excellent service, polite and friendly.

Image

Dada Roti Oong is located near the Srinakarin Dam, on the way to Erawan Waterfall.

Image

The sign is very prominent.

Image

Green Curry with Beef and Roti

This sentence describes a dish of green curry with beef served with roti.

  • The green curry is described as having a strong, rich flavor and being quite spicy.
  • The roti is described as being soft and fluffy, rather than crispy.

Image

Chicken Massaman Curry with Roti - The Massaman curry is slightly sweet and salty, with tender, fall-off-the-bone chicken. It pairs perfectly with the roti.

Chicken Satay - The taste is acceptable, priced at 100 baht per plate.

Image

Iced cappuccino and Thai tea (milk tea) are generally not worth the price.

5. When it's hot, you have to find a waterfall to soak in. We went to "Erawan Waterfall" (to trick the girl).

Erawan Waterfall, a renowned tourist destination, offers a refreshing escape with its seven cascading tiers. While the lower levels tend to be crowded, ascending to the higher tiers provides a tranquil retreat amidst the lush greenery.

Image

It is recommended to bring cold water with you from the waterfall office.

Image

Translation:

Those who don't want to walk can take a golf cart service to the first level of the waterfall for 30 baht per person. It's highly recommended, especially if you don't want to be exhausted before reaching the waterfall. The distance from the parking lot to the waterfall is quite significant.

Image

For Thai people... This is a waterfall swimsuit.

For Europeans... wear a bikini.

Image

The third level of the waterfall, usually with strong currents, today... the water slowly flows in streams.

The Classic Charm of Kanchanaburi: A Sweet Ride on the Local Train

The iconic sweet-colored train line is a quintessential Kanchanaburi experience. While I haven't personally had the pleasure of riding it, I've heard tales of its charm. If you have the means, consider opting for the air-conditioned carriage for a more comfortable journey.

6. After a Day of Exploration, Seek Blessings at the Stunning Tiger Cave Temple

Conclude your Kanchanaburi adventure with a visit to the magnificent Tiger Cave Temple, one of Thailand's most breathtaking religious sites.

Tiger Cave Temple

Two days and one night in Kanchanaburi...back to Bangkok!
