Kanchanaburi is a province that we often visit because it is close to Bangkok and has a wide variety of tourist attractions. Today, I will bring you a 2-day, 1-night trip that is both worthwhile and time-saving. For those who are interested in going during the weekend, I would like to leave this review as my first post. Please take care of me.
We started our journey by bus from Mo Chit around six in the morning and arrived at Kanchanaburi Transport around 8-9 am. Our first goal was to see the giant rain tree, which is over 100 years old. When we arrived at Kanchanaburi Transport, we called a motorcycle taxi to rent a motorbike. However, if the motorcycle taxi recommends another shop that you didn't intend to go to, be careful because when you return the motorbike, the shop will charge you a commission from us to give to the motorcycle taxi. The rental price is around 200-300 baht per day. Once we got the motorbike, we rode to the giant rain tree, which is about 20 kilometers away and took less than half an hour.
On the way, we saw a marigold garden and villagers were picking flowers to sell. So we stopped by to take some pictures.
After that, I continued driving in the hot sun and finally arrived at the giant rain tree. This is a long-distance shot to show the whole tree.
Come closer to the tree.
There are people coming and going. There are also vendors selling snacks and drinks.
The tree is very large, about 10 people can hug it. It has many branches, so there are many angles to take photos. Just move a little bit and you will get a different view. School children also come to rest here.
We took photos around this area for about an hour, then we looked for something to eat and returned the car. We prepared to go to Sangkhla Buri. We traveled to Sangkhla Buri by van in front of the Kanchanaburi Bus Terminal. The price was around 180 baht per person. We waited for a while and then got on the van. The journey took about 3-4 hours. We arrived in Kanchanaburi around 3 pm. Our goal was to stay at P Guesthouse Country because we had stayed there before and were impressed. The quality was worth the price, only 300 baht per night, and it was located by the river with a view of the Mon Bridge. However, this time the accommodation was fully booked, so we looked for another backup. But we weren't very happy with it because it was in a forest-like atmosphere and not by the river. We wanted to see the river more, so we walked around the area until we found...
This is Sangkhla Garden Home, right next to P Guesthouse. I was worried that it would be full again, but it turned out that there were still rooms available. 600 baht per room, so I booked it right away.
This is the view from the accommodation. The accommodation is mostly made of wood and is not very new. The level is acceptable, but the view is what I wanted. At night, sitting outside and sipping beer, oh my! It must be great.
And looking to the right, you will see the Mon Bridge in the distance.
This is the bathroom. It's not luxurious, but it's not too bad either. We're not too picky about bathrooms.
The bed can accommodate two people and has a TV.
And here the rental cars were all booked, so I went to rent one at P Guesthouse. If I remember correctly, it was 150 baht per day. They gave me a full tank of gas, and I had to return it full. With the car, I went to the viewpoint at Pom Pee, but there were a lot of hills and winding roads, so I only went to the viewpoint here. I don't remember the name, but it should be somewhere near the Saphan Rantee viewpoint.
I also saw smoke from a wildfire.
During that time, I went in March. There were a lot of wildfires, so the Wi-Fi at the accommodation wasn't working very well. This place is about 20 kilometers from the accommodation. After enjoying the view, I went back. Then I went to the Mahabodhi Temple.
Walking inside, you will see the Buddha statue. We also made merit and donated money, brought flowers, incense, and candles to worship the Buddha.
After that, climb the stairs to the back of the Buddha statue to see the pagoda.
After taking photos, we quickly returned to the Mon Bridge to capture the sunset.
Then I sat and watched the sunset. This spot is near the Mit Samphan floating restaurant. After the sunset, I went down to eat at the Mit Samphan floating restaurant.
We didn't eat much because we were going to the walking street to eat later. This meal cost about 100 baht per person. The taste was very good. Most importantly, we got to experience the atmosphere of a raft house up close and there were foreigners playing in the water nearby.
Let's go for a walk on the walking street when we're done.
Children dressed up adorably for us to take pictures, and we also donated money. It's like a maintenance fee for this place and for the music they performed for us. Let's all chip in a little so that future visitors can see the same things we did.
The original text is in English, so no translation is needed.
You have to try the pork fondue here.
One baht per skewer of moo joom, perfect for a casual snack.
There are many shops to choose from. If one shop is full, just find another one. The food is delicious. We ate about 30 skewers.
After that, I walked on and found banana blossom rice noodles. Since I had never had it before, I ordered another plate. Oh my, I must say I devoured it without hesitation. Haha, the taste was a bit strange. Many people might like it, but it wasn't my cup of tea. So I ate half of it, not wanting to disappoint the seller too much.
We finished eating, but the night wasn't over yet. We went back to walk on the Mon Bridge again at night.
It's not deserted at night, there are quite a few people around.
After walking, sitting, and playing for about half an hour, we returned to our accommodation to prepare for the next day.
The next day, we set out to watch the sunrise. We came to the Songkalia Bridge, where we could see a view of the Mon Bridge with the rising sun and boats sailing by.
On the other side of the Songkhla Bridge, there was mist on the surface of the water. The weather was cool at that time.
Please find the translation below:
After spending almost an hour at the Songkalia Bridge, we were going to have breakfast at the Mon Bridge. But we forgot that they only serve breakfast at 6 am. We arrived at 7 am, so we were late. Haha! In the end, we didn't get to have breakfast, so we just walked around the Mon Bridge in the morning. This is the view from the Mon Bridge. You can see a lot of rafts.
After crossing the Mon Bridge, turn left to find shops selling souvenirs and the opportunity to try the traditional Mon Thanaka powder. You can pay any amount you wish. Then, walk straight ahead to get a closer look at the magnificent Mon Bridge.
On the way, I met an uncle and his nephew with fishing rods, so I took a quick picture.
And come to take a picture with the 0 kilometer marker.
After finishing, I went back to my room. Walking behind the accommodation, there was a river. So we tried to take some hipster photos. Hehe.
There's a dog too, very cute. It led us here and will see us off when we leave.
It's time to say goodbye to Kanchanaburi, but if anyone wants to take a boat trip to see the underwater temple, you can go ahead. We've been there before and didn't want to get back late, so we decided not to go on this trip. We went to return the room key, refueled the car and returned it, and then went to eat kua kling opposite the van terminal in Sangkhla-Kanchanaburi.
After that, we traveled back home. The total cost of the trip was around 1,000-1,500 baht per person, which is quite affordable. The more people you go with, the cheaper it gets. So, let's share the cost!
Thank you everyone for reading. I'm new to writing, so please give me some feedback.
