Imagine a hundred years ago, let's say we were travelers from Bangkok, visiting Chiang Mai by boat.

In those days, there were no trains or airplanes. People traveled by boat along the Ping River and disembarked at the pier in front of Chiang Mai city.

Walk into Chiang Mai city, follow Tha Pae Road, enter the city gate on the east side, which is Tha Pae Gate, and walk straight ahead.

In the heart of the city, we will find Wat Phra Singh.

Wat Phra Singh is an ancient temple in Chiang Mai, built by King Phayu of the Mangrai Dynasty, the 5th ruler of Chiang Mai, in 1888.

This predates the founding of Ayutthaya, which was established in 1893.

Wat Phra Singh is a temple of great significance, as it houses the Phra Singh Buddha, or Phra Buddha Sihing, a sacred Buddha image that has been a symbol of Chiang Mai and the Lanna Kingdom for centuries.

Today we will take you to see Wat Phra Singh.

The map of the buildings in the temple is as shown in the picture.

Entering through the front gate, you will be greeted by two large lions guarding the entrance to the temple.

Next, you will find a statue of Kru Ba Srivichai and the Royal Vihara. On the right-hand side is the Tripitaka Hall.

Behind the royal temple, next to the ordination hall, which houses the Phra Chao Thong Thip, is the building on the right.

The ordination hall where Phra Chao Thongthip is enshrined is the building on the right.

Next, at the back, is the reclining Buddha temple, which is located in the same area as the Phra That Luang.

This is the main Buddha relic for the year of the snake.

However, the real highlight of the temple is the Golden Pavilion, which is located on the left side of the temple.

This is a temple that enshrines the Phra Buddha Sihing image. It was built during the reign of King Phra Mueang Kaeo (around 2038 - 2068), but the exact year of construction is uncertain.

It is a small Lanna-style temple that has been renovated several times.

Known as the "Golden Temple" because its walls are adorned with intricate gold patterns (in the northern dialect, "คำ" means "gold").

The northern people therefore call this temple the "Golden Temple". Inside, there are also murals on the walls.

Inside the golden temple, there is a statue of the Phra Buddha Sihing.

And that concludes our tour of the temple.

The image may be wider than reality due to the use of an ultra-wide lens with an exceptionally wide angle.

Overall, it is a very important temple and worth a visit to pay respects.

Located in the heart of Chiang Mai, it is easily accessible and offers many important landmarks for photography. I also go there regularly to practice my photography skills.

And on Sundays, the temple is also located in the walking street zone.
