Hello, Koh Tao

First of all, I must say that this is our first blog to review our lifestyle travel. We love to travel to the sea. Looking at the sea and listening to the waves make us feel refreshed and motivated to move forward. 555+

Koh Tao is located in Koh Phangan District, Surat Thani Province. This is our first time visiting Koh Tao. This visit is to relax, listen to the waves, the beach, the wind, and the two of us. 웃유 Before traveling, we checked the weather a bit. It looked good. We went at the end of February. But then... the day we went, it rained for 2 days, so we had to adjust our planned trip according to the weather. It really is eight parts rain and four parts sun. 555+

Our Journey

We used the services of Suwan Thip Tour, boarding the bus at the Sai Tai Mai Bus Terminal. The bus departed at 9 pm and arrived in Chumphon around 3:30 am. We waited at the bus station for the company's boat, which we had booked in advance, to pick us up at 5 am. The boat took us to Koh Tao. We traveled with Lomprayah High Speed Ferry, which departs from Chumphon twice a day, at 7:00 am and 1:00 pm. The journey takes 1 hour and 45 minutes. The return trip from Koh Tao to Chumphon also has two departures, at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.

  • The cost of the bus from Chumphon Railway Station to Lomprayah High Speed Ferry pier is 100 baht per person.
  • The cost of the Lomprayah High Speed Ferry is 600 baht per person (round-trip is 1150 baht).
  • The cost of travel from Bangkok to Chumphon is 328 baht per person (Suwan Thip Tour).

Lom Phaya Speedboat offers services from Bangkok. Passengers can board the bus at Khao San Road for a convenient journey. For more information, please visit: Lom Phaya Speedboat.

The ship has left the port. I sat on the top deck, enjoying the cool morning breeze. The sun wasn't too hot, making it a perfect day.

Visiting Thailand is like going abroad; almost 99.99% of the people are foreigners.

We've arrived at Koh Tao...yay!

We arrived at Koh Tao around 9:00 AM. The boat will stop to drop off tourists at Koh Nang Yuan first, followed by Koh Tao, before heading to Koh Phangan and Koh Samui. Finally, the day has arrived with perfect weather. We walked around looking for the resort staff holding a sign. Where are they? "SaiDaeng" Let's walk around. We found them and got on the car. It didn't take long to get to the resort. We arrived in 15 minutes. We stayed at SaiDaeng Resort, Koh Tao.

Welcome drink: A refreshing and delicious beverage, the exact type of which remains unknown.

Our rooms in Zone C are conveniently located near the reception, swimming pool, beach, and restaurant. The rooms are spacious and offer stunning sea views from the bed. Guests staying in Zone A or B will have to walk further to reach the viewpoint, which offers a more peaceful atmosphere but is slightly farther away.

Beach Bar with various services is located at this point. For tourists staying here.........free of charge*

Our beachfront is perfect for snorkeling and observing schools of fish. Sunbathers can soak up Vitamin Sea all day long. Kayaking, snorkeling, and other activities are also available.

*Only equipment is free, excluding drinks and food.

Another highlight of this place is the Water Slide. However, it was closed for renovation when we visited.

The Red Sand Resort also has a viewpoint where you can watch the sunrise and enjoy a 360° view. The small island you see is Shark Island, where boats will anchor for tourists to go snorkeling with whale sharks. This island is located near our resort.

Feeling hungry, we decided to entrust our meals to the resort throughout our trip. Breakfast was a buffet, which included bacon, ham, sausages, bread, various egg dishes, milk, yogurt, and fruits. It was a comprehensive spread, available from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM. For lunch and dinner, we could order from the menu, which offered a limited selection of dishes at relatively high prices. However, we particularly enjoyed the fried sea bass with mango salad and the stir-fried chicken with cashew nuts. We highly recommend these dishes.

The first night we stayed, the weather was good, the sky was clear, and we had a good rest. The next morning, we planned to go scuba diving, but the dream was shattered in an instant when dark clouds came in, blocking the sun. It rained all day and the WiFi was down, so we had to rest in our room. 555 We cried for a while. T^T ☁ ☁

Our Planned Itinerary

Day 1:

  • Explore the resort and capture the surrounding atmosphere.

Day 2:

  • Enjoy the water slides, swimming pool, kayaking, snorkeling, and stargazing, including capturing the Milky Way.

Day 3:

  • Spend the entire day at Koh Nang Yuan, stopping for lunch at a restaurant near the pier on the way back.

The plan that was made

  • The first day, the weather was good, so we explored the resort and took pictures of the atmosphere.
  • On the second day, it rained heavily, with strong winds and lightning. We stayed in our room and relaxed all day. We couldn't play on the water slide because it was closed for maintenance. The waves were strong, and the sky was full of clouds, so there were no stars.
  • On the third day, it rained again, but there was no wind, which was good. We couldn't go to Koh Nang Yuan, but we were able to swim, kayak, and snorkel instead.

What?! No way!!!

It's already the third night, time flies like a lie. Do I have to go back to the capital and breathe in the pollution? Happy times always pass quickly. The day we have to return, the sky is clear. As we thought, the weather was perfect on the day we arrived and the day we left. ☀ It's great. Without further ado, we quickly had breakfast and checked out so that we could go to Nang Yai Island. Luckily, we had booked the return boat for 2 pm, so we could still go to Nang Yai Island as planned. Without further ado, we jumped into the car and went for it.

We have arrived, Nang Yaowal! Yay!

We rushed to leave our luggage at the wooden balcony shop, which the resort recommended. It is located right at the pier and the Lomprayah speedboat ticket office. After dropping off our luggage, we hurried to board the boat to Nang Yuan Island. It takes 15-20 minutes to get from Koh Tao to Nang Yuan Island. Nang Yuan Island is only open to outsiders from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. **The entrance fee to the island is 30 Baht for Thais and 100 Baht for foreigners.** Without wasting any time, we rushed to the viewpoint to capture the view before the crowds arrived. We spent 2 hours on Nang Yuan Island. We had arranged for the boat to pick us up at noon. It was a pity that we didn't have much time. Next time, we will definitely stay overnight at Nang Yuan Island.

SAY GOODBYE TO KOH TAO & CHUMPHON

After returning from Koh Nang Yuan, we picked up our luggage and grabbed a bite to eat. We then rushed to the Chumphon pier to catch a bus to the Chumphon train station. We stopped at the train station to shower, find some food, and prepare for our journey back to the capital. On the way back, we didn't take the train. Instead, we took the Suwannatee Tour bus, as usual. The bus departed at 9:00 PM. See you again!
