KOREA's Calling
This trip to Korea is different. No Nami Island, no Namsan Tower, no kimchi-making, no ginseng shops, no seaweed snacks. This time, we're diving headfirst into the heart of Seoul.
We'll be indulging in Korean fried chicken and beer, searching for Captain Yoo, exploring the vibrant streets of Hongdae, and scouring the Line Shop for the latest trends. We'll be admiring the handsome oppas, greeting the friendly ajummas, and soaking in the city's vibrant street art.
So, what are you waiting for? Korea is calling!

Regarding flight tickets and accommodation, I will skip this topic as it depends on various factors and individual preferences.
"P'Yod" accidentally booked flights and accommodation through expedia.com and got a very good price.
Accommodation for 3 nights + round-trip AirAsia flight tickets + 20kg checked baggage = approximately 10,000 baht.
During our 3-night, 4-day trip to Seoul, we traveled extensively by subway and walked a lot.
Let's see where we're going.
Let's start with the First Meal in Seoul. This trip, we'll be eating non-stop.
Feeling hungry after a long walk... Let's grab a bite!
Legendary menu, must-try in Korea: Chicken + Beer 🐔🍺
The storefront features a "soup'ta" mascot inviting customers in, with "Sergeant Saw" as the presenter. This enticed me to enter the store without hesitation.
BHC Beer Zone: Better & Happier Choice
Located near Chungmuro Station.
Two dishes were ordered:
- Original Fried Chicken (Sunflower Fried Chicken) 16,000 won
- Mind Mapster (Mild Chilli Pepper & Soy Sauce) 18,000 won
The plate is extremely large, XXXL size.
Four people can be satisfied with two dishes. It is very delicious.
Ready to continue the drama.
📍 Location: BHC Better & Happier Choice Beer Zone, located near Chungmuro Station Exit 2.
Another landmark area in Seoul right now is definitely here.
Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP)
The unique architectural design of the building has attracted numerous tourists to visit and take pictures.
And now there's also the LED Rose Garden, which I heard will be extended until October... It's beautiful during the day and at night.
In addition to DDP, this area boasts a plethora of shopping destinations, including Lotte Fitin, Hello apM, and DOOTA. Remarkably, these malls remain open until 5:00 AM, offering an unparalleled shopping experience that extends into the wee hours of the morning.
Location: Dongdaemun Design Plaza (Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Subway Station)
Descendants of the Sun fans, don't miss this!
Currently at DOOTA Duty Free in Dongdaemun.
The exhibition series features a stand-up display of "Captain Yoo Shi-jin" for fans to take pictures with, imagining themselves as "Doctor Kang Mo-yeon".
The drama features meticulously recreated sets, including the Medi Cube, the military camp kitchen, and Dr. Kang's home.
Fans of Captain U are in for a treat... Just look at the girls taking pictures with the captain, you can tell they're blushing. 5555
In addition, there is a shop selling souvenirs of this series, including dolls, pillows, calendars, soundtrack CDs, and much more...
It also has a zone for listening to music and watching series.
Enjoy the endless loop!
Visitors to Korea during this period are welcome to stop by. After watching the show, you can continue shopping seamlessly.
📍 Location: DOOTA Duty Free, 3D Floor, accessible via Dongdaemun History & Culture Park subway station.
Keep going!!
Dinner tonight ended at a barbecue restaurant near Itaewon.
The restaurant is called "Maple Tree House" and serves premium Korean BBQ.
This restaurant wasn't on my original map, but while I was taking a leisurely stroll around Itaewon, I stumbled upon a plethora of trendy international restaurants. Each establishment had its own unique selling point, and this one was no exception.
The food is delicious, as expected from Korean barbecue, with an unlimited supply of side dishes. The meat and pork are carefully selected and grilled to perfection, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Highly recommended!
The open and airy atmosphere of the restaurant, with its green glass bottles and rows of plants, was a major factor in my decision to enter.
We ordered a total of 3 plates of beef and pork for this meal. The cost was 56,000 wons, which is approximately 2,000 baht.
The high price could be due to the location of the store.
If you happen to be in the Itaewon area, be sure to check it out.
Oh, the store has a website. You can check it out.

Location: Maple Tree House, Itaewon Subway Station.
Plus,
How adorable is that...
The weather in Korea has been extremely hot lately. Let's have something refreshing to drink.
Do you want a bag of delaffe water? It's sold at most minimarts.
Available in a variety of flavors, including chocolate, banana, coconut, and more...
You can enjoy it directly from the pouch or
You can also add cute Line Friends glasses.
"Simply grab another bag of ice from the freezer and pay at the counter. The staff will then provide you with a cup and straw."
Note: The admin found this at the minimart near the entrance to the N Seoul Tower.
Is it cute? Go try it out!
Today, let's take a walk and admire the old Korean-style houses.
Bukchon Hanok Village
This is a literal translation of the Korean phrase "북촌 한옥 마을".
Here are some additional details that may be helpful:
- Bukchon means "northern village" in Korean.
- Hanok refers to traditional Korean houses.
- Village indicates a community of people living in close proximity.
Therefore, "Bukchon Hanok Village" can be understood as a traditional Korean village located in the northern part of a city.
For a more nuanced translation, it would be helpful to know the context in which the phrase is being used. For example, if it is being used in a travel guide, it might be translated as "Bukchon Hanok Village, a historic neighborhood in Seoul known for its traditional Korean houses."
The villages in this area have retained their Korean character to the fullest extent. Please refrain from making excessive noise while walking around.
Signs will be posted throughout the area reminding visitors to remain quiet to avoid disturbing residents.
It is highly recommended to visit the tourist information center to obtain a map beforehand, as the area is characterized by a labyrinthine network of narrow alleys and streets.
The trail leading to the observatory is a steep uphill climb, so be prepared for a challenging hike. The reward for your effort is a breathtaking panoramic view of the village from above. The Bukchon Observatory charges an entrance fee of 3,000 won per person, which includes a complimentary fruit juice.
Visitors are advised to visit the city in the early morning or late afternoon/evening to avoid the intense heat during the day.
Note: The original text appears to be in Thai.
Here is the translation in English:
If you're feeling energetic, you can continue walking from this area to the Insadong souvenir shops and Gyeongbokgung Palace.
Location: Bukchon Hanok Village (Anguk Subway Station)
Note: I have translated the sentence into English and added the information about the subway station for clarity.
On a hot day, stop by the roadside cart to buy a drink from the friendly old lady.
The cappuccino cart's packaging is incredibly luxurious.

South Korea's packaging is truly impressive.
Today, while visiting Bukchon Hanok Village, I stumbled upon a steakhouse called Nuclear Steak: No.1 Premium Steak House. 🍴
It is a small shop located on the side of the road with only two tables set up in front of the store...
Interestingly, there is a take-away set of steak in small, well-like trays on top of a beverage glass. This makes it convenient to hold, eliminating the problem of holding water in one hand and food in the other. But then, how do you use your hand to dip the food?
You can now take this and walk around while eating.
Excellent problem-solving!
This design features a straw hole and a fork holder, demonstrating brilliant and innovative thinking. It deserves a perfect score of 10!
Taste and Satisfaction
Moving on to the taste, I found it to be delicious, especially compared to other takeaway options. The steak was tender, the fries were crispy and freshly fried, and the salad was decent. Although the portion size may appear small in the pictures, it was surprisingly filling.
📍 Location: Nuclear Steak is conveniently located right outside Anguk Station Exit 2 on the subway. The restaurant is on the right-hand side as you exit the station.
Let's continue our trip… Time is limited…
Before "P'Yod" went to Seoul this time, 3-4 days before the trip, I saw a full Facebook feed about the heavy storm in Seoul, which caused the water in the Cheonggyecheon Stream to overflow...
The weather was good on the day I went, so I decided to stop by and check out the latest condition of the canal.
The situation is improving, though the area was recently flooded.
However, today everything has returned to normal. It is clean, the water is clear, there is no garbage, it is truly beautiful. (Our country should follow suit!)
This canal is surrounded by a walkway that allows visitors to immerse themselves in nature. Some people even sit with their legs dangling in the cool water, enjoying the relaxing atmosphere.
Feel free to toss a coin into the well. The proceeds will be used to maintain and improve this canal.
📍 Location: Cheonggyecheon Stream, City Hall Subway Station
Let's move on to the shopping areas after visiting the canal.
When in Seoul, be sure to visit Myeongdong.
Bustling as always, with both famous brand stores and street food stalls…
I heard that this morning "Brother Yod" went to the Adidas store and there were NMD shoes available...
I was planning to stop by to see it for myself... but it was all gone!
How crowded is it...ask your heart.
📍 Location: Myeongdong Market, Myeongdong Subway Station
Following the footsteps of Descendants of the Sun once again for this meal.
Captain Yoo and Sergeant Seo spent three days and two nights drinking at the SEORAE BBQ restaurant.
The storefront displays photos of scenes that were filmed here...
This barbecue restaurant requires queuing. It became famous because of this series.
The restaurant has a table with a sign that says "Captain Yoo and Sergeant Seo sat here."
The store even played the series' soundtrack in the background, making the experience even more immersive.
For food, there are set menus to order. The grilled pork set comes with kimchi soup and a variety of side dishes.
It is important to note that the tables in this restaurant are quite small, to the point where even the side dishes barely leave any room for anything else.
Therefore, it is recommended to maintain good posture. If there is no space to place your bag, it is recommended to place it under the chair, which is a bin.
The total cost for today's meal was 51,000 won. We enjoyed a variety of dishes, including grilled meat, kimchi soup, and soju.
When paying, you can walk up to the counter and tell them your table number.
The shop, recognizing our love for the series, generously gifted us with a series poster as a souvenir. This was truly exceptional.
Descendants of the Sun fans, don't miss this!
📍 Location: SEORAE Restaurant, Hoegi Subway Station Exit 1. Exit the station and cross the street to reach the restaurant.
The review is not finished yet... I will come back to review it continuously. Let's continue to explore SEOUL. Thank you for following.
Let's update on the global situation...
CNN Cafe: A cafe that keeps you up-to-date on current events.

This cafe is located on a floating island near Banpo Bridge. If you come at night, you can watch the fountain show at the bridge.

- Take the subway to Express Bus Terminal Station.
- Transfer to bus route 740.
- Get off at the Banpo Hanang Park bus stop (one stop from Express Bus Terminal Station).

Next, let's move on to the area for young people (girls)...
This beautiful building must be attributed to Korea.
Ewha Womans University is another place for those who enjoy looking at buildings with beautiful and unique structures...
While it's not quite an underground building, nor is it entirely above ground, one thing's for sure: it's truly magnificent! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
The university's front gate also has a shopping street where you can take a leisurely stroll, relax, and people-watch. Feel free to stop by and hang out.
Location: Ewha Womans University
Directions:
- Subway: Ewha Womans University Station, Exit 2 or 3.
- Walk straight ahead from the exit.
- The university entrance will be directly ahead.
After a tiring walk, there is a convenience store on the ground floor of the building. You can stop by to buy some drinks and snacks to enjoy.
Aside from Myeongdong, Hongdae is another district that serves as a hub for everything related to Korean youth culture.
This area is incredibly vibrant, offering everything trendy among Korean youth.
This area is vibrant day and night, possibly due to the presence of the renowned Hongik University (known for its arts programs, according to my Korean friends).
The main street in this area is Hongikro-gil, a street that runs directly from the subway to the university.
Both sides of the road are lined with shops offering a wide variety of brands, including clothing, shoes, and cosmetics.
From this road, you can see another strangely shaped but cool building right at the entrance of the university.
...has become another landmark of this area by default...
Another must-visit street is Hongtong Street, a small street that intersects with Hongikro-gil.
This entire line will be 90% Korean fashion clothing. It will not focus on brands, but rather on the stylish, K-fashion aesthetic!
A must-visit spot in Hongdae is the Pedestrian-Friendly Street, where you can witness the vibrant street performances by local youth.
This entire street will be filled with street shows, including dance covers, magic shows, and much more… It's truly a delight.
Being around teenagers makes you feel like a teenager yourself. 55555
This area is not only full of shopping stores, but also has a plethora of trendy cafes and dessert shops, such as Hello Kitty Cafe, Coffee Smith, and dal.comm.
This area is truly vibrant, with shops staying open until 4 or 5 AM and restaurants even pushing it to 4 AM. It's intense, but I love it!
24 hours in Hongdae is never enough!
Hongdae is a must-visit district in Seoul.
📍 Location: Hongdae Subway Station, Exit 8 or 9
A map of the Hongdae district is also available. You can pick it up at the Tourist Information Center.

Continuing our exploration of filming locations from the popular drama "Descendants of the Sun," we now visit another establishment featured in the series.
Name of the shop: Flying Chicken 🐔
This restaurant's signature dish is the sizzling hot chicken, which arrives at your table piping hot. Every dish features chicken, and lots of it.
This order includes four dishes:
Original Chicken Stir-fried with Hot Pan Sauce
Chicken Tender Salad Chicken Breast Salad
Grilled Potato and
Rice ball (brown rice wrapped in seaweed, formed into a large ball with a boiled egg inside).
The bill for this meal came to 40,500 won (a bit pricey, but we did order a lot!).
The food was delicious. The restaurant is decorated in an industrial and military style. The servers are dressed in military-style uniforms and are quite serious. There are boxes of ammunition next to the tables.
This restaurant opens at 4 pm and closes at 4 am. Anyone who wants to enjoy chicken and beer, please come.
Location: Flying Chicken Restaurant in Hongdae
Flying Chicken Restaurant is located in the Hongdae district. From Hongik University Station Exit 9, walk straight down Hingikro-gil street. Continue walking until you reach the university. Turn right and walk approximately 200 meters. Turn left into the alleyway (the alley before Coffee Smith). Walk straight ahead and the restaurant will be on your left-hand side. You will easily spot the iconic flying chicken sign.

LINE Friends fans wouldn't miss it for the world.
The Line Friend Shop has many branches.
However, the flagship stores in Itaewon and Myeongdong are unavoidable.
Visiting Line Friends Shops in Korea: A Brown Bear Enthusiast's Journey
This passage describes a trip to South Korea, specifically mentioning visits to three different Line Friends shops. The author expresses their enthusiasm for the character "Brown Bear" and their subsequent shopping spree.
Here's a possible translation that captures the essence of the original text:
During a recent trip to Korea, I had the opportunity to visit three different Line Friends shops. As an avid fan of "Brown Bear," I couldn't resist indulging in a shopping spree.
The first branch in Itaewon. This branch is arguably the largest, with the entire building decorated with Cony and Brown bears. The souvenir zone spans two floors, and the third floor houses an adorable cafe. Every menu item is so cute that you'll hesitate to eat it. Order away! What are you waiting for? Plus, there are plenty of seats in the cafe, so feel free to find a cozy spot and relax.
This area offers countless photo opportunities. Every few steps, you'll find yourself compelled to stop and capture the moment!
Shoppers with substantial purchases can obtain an immediate tax refund at the automated kiosk on the second floor. This eliminates the need to queue at the airport for a refund.
📍 Location: Walk straight for about 500 meters from Exit 3 of Itaewon Station. The Line Friends shop & cafe building will be on your right.
The second branch I visited was in Myeongdong.
This branch is located in a prime shopping area, so it tends to be very crowded. It is a flagship store with two floors. Unlike the Itaewon branch, there is no proper cafe with seating, only a small cart selling snacks. However, the menu remains largely the same.
This branch features a giant Brown Bear mascot welcoming customers at the entrance. Be prepared to wait in line if you want to take a picture with it.
📍 Location: The closest subway station is Myeongdong Station, Exit 5 or 6.
Another branch I intended to visit was in Hongdae.
Upon arriving at the restaurant at 10 p.m., we discovered it was closed, despite the website stating a closing time of 10:30 p.m. We were only able to capture a photograph of the storefront as a memento.
This new branch is located in the elCUBE By LOTTE building. The highlight of this branch is Choco, Brown's cute younger sister, who welcomes customers at the entrance. She is adorable, with a pink bow and a stoic expression.
Could someone who has had the opportunity to take a selfie with her please share it with us?
Location:
The nearest subway station is Hongik University Station, Exit 9. Walk approximately 500 meters down Hogikro-gil Street. The elCUBE building will be on your left (opposite Forever21).
Here are the locations of all Line Friends shops in Thailand. Choose the one that is most convenient for you.
http://funtastickorea.com/line-friends-store-line-friends-…/This is the last area we will visit on this trip.
Initially, this location wasn't a top priority on my itinerary due to its distance, requiring a lengthy subway ride.
However, when the time came, I was able to manage my time effectively and had some free time, so I decided to go ahead and do it.
I must say, I was not disappointed with my choice to come here, and I would highly recommend it to everyone.
Let's take a walk and see the murals.
"Sang-an Village: Gangpul Cartoon Street"
A small village is located east of Seoul. All the paintings are the work of Gangpul, a renowned Korean painter.
Scattered around the village are over 50 paintings, each with its own unique meaning and charm.
We can walk around and see the paintings in a continuous flow. Some paintings are on the walls, while others are on the walls of houses.
Some hidden pictures are tucked away in small alleys, which is quite fun, like following a treasure map. 5555
It is recommended to pick up a map before the month begins, which will show the location of each painting.
Follow the path marked with stars ⭐️ on the ground. This will ensure you don't get lost and allow you to appreciate all the artworks!
It takes about 1 hour to walk around the village. The weather is quite hot these days, and I'm sweating a little. 555
It is recommended to visit during the early morning or late evening. There is no entrance fee. Please be cautious of vehicles while walking, as the road remains open to traffic.
The village is relatively quiet as it is inhabited. It is recommended to "keep quiet" when visiting.
To avoid disturbing the residents in that area, I would say that at the time we were walking, there were only two of us. There were hardly any tourists at all.
Note: Many art villages in Korea that were popular with tourists and caused noise pollution for residents have removed their artwork due to this issue.
📍Location: Sang-an Village. Exit 4 of Gangdong Subway Station. Walk straight for about 300 meters after exiting the station, then turn left and go down the slope. There will be a box on the left where you can pick up a map.
Follow the star symbol quickly.
Please take a map from this box.
From here on, there will be all the drawings I could find… Just a heads-up, there are a LOT of them.
A gentle reminder: If you happen to be in the vicinity, please refrain from making excessive noise.
This concludes the review post for "Travel Ruarua: IN MY SEOUL 4 Days Was Too Short…"
