"Don Market" in Surat Thani Province

Map coordinates: Latitude: 99.314005, Longitude: 9.133362
Opening hours: Saturdays and Sundays, 3:00 PM - 9:00 PM.
This market was established under the concept of "Baan Don Retro", showcasing local products, southern Thai arts and culture, and traditional southern Thai food.
Surat Thani is a vibrant market that exudes a natural charm and reflects the traditional lifestyle of its urban community. This market serves as a platform for local farmers to sell their produce directly to consumers, fostering a sense of community and providing a recreational space for both Thai and international visitors.
This floating market is unlike any other you've seen before. Instead of vendors selling their wares from boats, they set up shop along the banks of the Sri Tapi Public Park. Here, you'll find a bounty of fresh produce, seafood, savory dishes, snacks, sweets, and refreshing drinks. But that's not all. The market also offers a diverse selection of other goods, including plants, portraits, and handmade crafts. Whether you're looking for a delicious meal, unique souvenirs, or simply a relaxing weekend getaway, this floating market is the perfect destination.
After soaking in the atmosphere and filling our bellies, we took a boat ride to watch the fireflies and let our food settle.
Location: Monday-Friday, you can take a boat to see the fireflies at the coffee shop by the Tapi River. On Saturdays and Sundays, you can take a boat at the Ban Don Floating Market.
Fee: 50 Baht per person
Roundtrip duration: Approximately 1 hour
Let's get on the boat! Let's go!
*It is recommended to visit the fireflies on a dark moonlit night, as you will be able to see them more clearly. When we went, we went on a bright moonlit night, and the bright moonlight made it difficult to see the fireflies. The photos we took didn't even show any fireflies.
