Hello everyone. First, I must apologize that I visited this place a long time ago, back in June.

I didn't think I would write a review, so the photos and information may not be complete.

After the tragic event that shook the entire country, it made us reflect on many things.

There is one tourist attraction that clearly stands out in my mind as a place that truly embodies the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy.

This place is 'Reuan Rim Le Homestay' in Ban Khlong Khon Subdistrict, Samut Songkhram Province, owned by Mr. Supab.

As students majoring in tourism and hospitality, we had the opportunity to sit down with Uncle Supab to discuss the history of his homestay.

The uncle asked us to find the strengths of the community, to look at the advantages of our own home, to see what good things we can develop. Nowadays, people understand that...

One must study and work in Bangkok. Working for a company is the best option, as there are no opportunities in the provinces. However, this is not always the case. Uncle believes that there must be something everywhere.

This is a key point that we might overlook. Uncle only finished primary school, and the activities at the homestay reflect his daily life.

Despite the initial slow start, with only one room booked, the uncle persevered, sharing his passion and knowledge with interested tourists.

If there is none, it doesn't matter. We can still live our normal lives.

The uncle does not sell snacks, water, or other food items besides what he has prepared because he wants to share with the community. If he sold everything,

Facilitate everything, but what about the community?

We should help each other because we live in the same community. This is a summary of my conversation with my uncle.

Let's get to know Uncle Supab's homestay. (:

Journey

Traveling from Bangkok to Reuan Rim Le can be done conveniently by van or train.

As our friend had never been on a train before, we took this opportunity to introduce them to the experience.

We met at Wongwian Yai Railway Station and headed towards Mahachai Station. From there, we took a ferry across the river.

Our final leg of the journey involved taking the Ban Laem - Maeklong Railway Line.

Schedule.

Free tickets under government policy

Upon arrival, they secured their seats.

We arrived at Mahachai Railway Station without being too late. However, when we asked the railway staff,

We missed the Ban Laem train because we miscalculated the time and didn't check the schedule beforehand.

The dream was shattered, forcing a change of travel plans to a minivan trip to the Maeklong market instead.

This post provides a train schedule to help you avoid missing your train like we did.

Upon arriving at Maeklong Market, inquire with the locals about the location of the pier for boats to Khlong Kon. The Thai people are known for their kindness and helpfulness, so there is no need to worry.

Buses depart every 20 minutes (unconfirmed). The buses offer a unique and heartwarming experience, as all passengers are acquainted with one another.

The driver also, we said we were going to a homestay, everyone said "Oh, I see," to go find Uncle Supab.

Upon entering the community, the car takes everyone home, which is called an informal shuttle.

When you arrive at the pier, call Uncle Supab to pick you up.

Whispering, there is a grocery store at the pier. There is an ice cream vending machine that we loved to eat as children.

Not available in Bangkok.

We arrived at the homestay in less than 10 minutes.

A sense of simplicity and tranquility.

Beware of monkeys in this area. Do not leave any food or bags unattended.

We took photos and enjoyed the atmosphere, breathing in the cool air.

This is the first lunch meal here. After this meal, the uncle will take you to do activities.

Known for her ability to bring rain wherever she goes, she never fails to disappoint. After the meal was finished, the rain poured down.

Translation:

My uncle said it hasn't rained for a long time. If it doesn't stop by three in the afternoon, we'll have to postpone the activity until tomorrow. My friends and I sat there praying for the rain to stop.

Translation:

Is there anything else I can help you with?

The heavens have taken pity on us, the innocent children, and have stopped the rain. Now we are ready to go out and have fun. Hooray!

Activities at Rimlay Homestay

Note: I have translated the sentence from Thai to English, keeping the tone simple and short. I have also maintained the HTML structure of the original text.

Besides the three of us, there are two other people staying at the homestay. We will be doing activities together, so it is recommended to wear clothes that can get dirty.

Since we are in Khlong Khon, we have to go play in the mud. Haha!

We got a ride from the owner's son, Supab, who took us for a spin.

Activity 1: Mangrove Planting

Brother Wan distributed several mangrove seedlings to each of us to plant. On the way, he told us about the history of the mangrove forest.

This place offers various exhibits and educational resources, including information on nature conservation.

Upon reaching our destination, we immediately got to work. The first step was to step into the mud. The feeling of being sucked in was unlike anything I had ever experienced before.

Translation:

The planting atmosphere was lively and chaotic. Brother Wan took photos while cheering.

Translation:

After planting, Mr. Wan drove us to see the lives of people and monkeys in the area.

Activity 2: Observing the Cultivation of Various Shellfish

Local residents primarily engage in oyster farming, including blood cockles, green mussels, and oysters. Mr. Wan provided valuable insights.

Although I have forgotten now (I'm sorry, brother), there is a "krateang", which is a house built to stay overnight to watch over the oysters.

We didn't take many photos, as we preferred to take in the sights with our own eyes.

Activity 3: Shellfish digging and mud skiing

Translation:

This sentence is already in English and does not require translation.

Brother Wan will let us go down and float in the water, but don't worry, the water is not deep and there is mud at the bottom.

These clams will be given to Uncle Supa to grill for us to eat. Besides finding clams, sometimes we also find crabs.

Very fun

The highlight activity here, which we highly recommend, is mud skiing.

A traditional Thai game that is very unique to Thailand, but extremely difficult to master. We played it 4 times and won.

From the first few rounds where I held the rope tightly, I started to want to try difficult moves, holding it with one hand. As a result, I fell.

Despite collecting a large quantity, they ultimately released the majority, retaining only a small portion.

Benefits of evening light

Other reviews mentioned another activity: mud board sliding.

However, due to the rain that delayed our schedule, we were unable to complete this activity. Nevertheless, it is alright because…

Uncle Supab said there are boats available for paddling instead.

When my uncle said he had a boat for us to paddle,

My imagination: Paddling to the middle of the water, waiting to watch the sunset, the water sparkling.
Reality: We went in circles! We paddled in circles, my uncle and aunt, and my brother Wan, shouted and teased us. We and our friends both splashed water and spun the boat.
We were so worried that we would sink or not be able to get to shore. It was funny.

Translation:

"After talking about Uncle Suchap for so long, this is the first picture of him."

(I'm guessing) Your brother's child, how old are they now?

For those who are afraid of monkeys, let me tell you that this place has a monkey protector, namely Lord Lookchin.

The accommodation is spacious and can accommodate up to 10 people. It has multiple fans, mosquito nets, and numerous electrical outlets.

However, there were a lot of mosquitoes, which we believe was due to the proximity to water. The bathroom was located outside the room but within the accommodation area.

Translation:

Note:

The sky was overcast on the morning we went, so we didn't see the sun. This was on a morning that was not a Buddhist holy day.

Monks will be rowing boats to collect alms at the homestay's pier. Those who are interested are welcome to join.

This is the last breakfast.

The last photo with my uncle before I left. He told me he has Alzheimer's and might not remember me next time I visit.

However, if you are happy, please come back and visit your uncle. For us, the two days and one night we spent here were a short time.

However, we have considered many things. We thought about your uncle's homestay. Your uncle could have profited more from it.

However, Uncle generously shared his knowledge with the community, leading a simple life. We asked ourselves, "Where does our 'P' lie?"

If you're feeling overwhelmed or lost, take some time to reflect on yourself.

Translation:

Additionally, we recommend families with children of an appropriate age for outings, not too young, and in a learning phase, to consider the following.

We would like to take them to a place like this. This is another option besides shopping malls that is not far from Bangkok.

Public transportation is convenient and affordable.

If anyone goes, please say hello to Uncle and share your stories with us. ^^
