Planning is essential before visiting Phaya Thai Palace, as it is only open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays, with two tours per day at 9:30 AM and 1:30 PM. Admission is free. The palace is located within the grounds of Phramongkutklao Hospital on Ratchawithi Road in the Ratchathewi district. Visitors can enter through the same gate as the hospital.
We arrived at the palace at 9 am and registered at the counter. With some time to spare, we took a walk and took photos around the area before going inside. The tour of the palace is guided by staff who provide information throughout the tour, explaining the history of the palace, the throne halls, and the various buildings. This palace was once a place of relaxation for King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) and has gone through many eras, from the barn era, the royal residence era, the Phaya Thai Hotel era, to the hospital era. There are many interesting stories to be told. The tour takes about an hour and a half, and photos are allowed inside, but please be respectful when taking photos. Do not pose in a way that shows disrespect to the place. (That would not be good.) Let's go see the beauty of the palace together.
