Let's move on to the main topic of our trip: sightseeing. To be honest, I didn't have many specific goals in mind. My main objective was simply to relax, sleep in late, and take leisurely walks around the city. I've already visited most of the major attractions on previous trips, with the exception of Hong Kong Disneyland. This time, I decided to finally check it out. Therefore, the majority of my review will focus on Disneyland.
After checking in at Hotel Benito, I wasted no time in heading out to shop. When in Hong Kong, shopping is a must, right? My go-to shopping destination is Citygate Outlet Center, where affordability reigns supreme. From regular brands to luxury labels, Citygate has it all. I wouldn't miss it for the world! (If you walk along the side of Citygate mall, you'll find a path leading to the Ngong Ping Cable Car, which takes you to the Big Buddha. However, I've been there before, so I skipped it this time.)
Travel directions: Take the MTR orange line Tung Chung line to Tung Chung Station Exit B or C.
After spending a considerable amount of time at the Citygate Outlet Center, I ventured into the bustling Mong Kok district. Renowned for its diverse shopping options, Mong Kok boasts a plethora of renowned stores. While luxury brands are somewhat limited, Tsim Sha Shui along Nathan Road offers a wider selection. My primary objective was to explore the model collections at Sino Building and CTMA Center. However, the high prices discouraged me from making significant purchases.
Directions: Take the MTR to Mong Kok Station, Exit D3. Upon exiting, you will find yourself on Sai Yeung Choi Street, which will be bustling with people. Follow the crowd along this long street until you reach a three-way intersection with an H&M store. This marks the end of the street.
I walked around Mong Kok for a while, but the model figures I wanted were scarce and expensive. It was almost 9 pm, so I decided to go to Tsim Sha Shui to see the Symphony of Light at Victoria Harbour. However, I knew I wouldn't make it in time. The Symphony of Light is a light, sound, and music show that takes place around 8 pm or 8:30 pm at Victoria Harbour. The Avenue of Stars is also located along the harbor. Even though I knew I wouldn't make it in time, I still went. I took some photos, watched the lights, and enjoyed a relaxing walk. The night sky was dark, but there was a gap that allowed me to see the beautiful blue moon.
Looking back at the bay, the Riu Hotel is still lit up, welcoming tourists who visit here all night. The shadow of the illuminated building reflects on the water, creating a beautiful scene.
Getting there: Take the MTR to Tsim Sha Shui and walk to the connecting station to East Tsim Sha Shui Exit L6. Cross the street and you will find the 1881 Heritage shopping mall. This is where the Christmas festival is being held. (Since I've already explained it, let's insert a picture here.)
And then I kept walking until I reached the clock tower (sorry for skipping a bit, hehe). Near the clock tower is Harbour City, which also had a Christmas festival. And this is the view of Victoria Harbour.
The next morning, or rather, almost afternoon, I set off for Hong Kong Disneyland, determined to stay until closing time to watch the fireworks display. I arrived at 3:30 pm, after a few detours and stops here and there. The show times may vary depending on the season, so it's best to check the website for the most up-to-date information: https://www.hongkongdisneyland.com/th/entertainmen...
**Travel Directions:** Take the MTR Orange Line (Tung Chung Line) and get off at Sunny Bay Station. Then, transfer to the Disney Resort Line, which will take you directly to the entrance of Hong Kong Disneyland.
Upon entering through the grand gate, you will be greeted by the magnificent Walt Disney fountain. At night, the fountain comes alive with vibrant colors, creating a breathtaking spectacle.
The front of the amusement park is a souvenir zone called Main Street USA. There is a train that takes tourists around the park.
As you walk straight ahead, you will come across the castle. Along the way, there will be performances and Walt Disney mascots at various buildings and booths for children and tourists to queue up and take photos with.
This zone is Zond Fantasy. I really like it. The simulation and layout of the fairytale castle is very beautiful.
Each theme is amazing. We were mesmerized by the lights and the layout of this zone for a long time.
Another zone that I enjoyed was Tomorrow Land, which is a futuristic world zone. It also has a new Iron Man and Star Wars zone. I skipped the other zones because the queues for the rides were incredibly long. I didn't have time to enter the zones. Haha!
This place is even more beautiful at night. The photos don't do it justice, so I've included a video below for you to see.
On my last morning, I had breakfast at a tofu shop in the Sham Shui Po district. I've included a link to my review at the top of this post. Sham Shui Po is similar to Sampeng, with both wholesale and retail businesses. There are also 4-5 shops selling cartoon models in this area, with reasonable prices. I ended up buying quite a few, haha.
Directions: MTR Sham Shui Po, Exit B2.
Located in the Wan Chai district, Calbee offers a unique dining experience with its freshly fried potato chips. The restaurant provides a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for a casual stroll and enjoying a delicious snack. (For a review of the restaurant, please refer to the link provided above.)
Finally, I went to Times Square, another bustling area with many stores celebrating Christmas.
Travel directions: MTR Causeway Bay St.
In conclusion, I hope that my four-part review has been informative and has inspired you to explore the world, even if only a little. It all comes down to your own initiative. Let's go on an adventure together! : )
