Let's go to "Loei" together, okay? This is a command sentence, not a question sentence. 55555 This trip started with the desire to live a slow life in a small town called "Chiang Khan". At first, my boyfriend didn't seem to want to take me, so I almost gave up. But when I was free, I saw a page called "Backpack Travel" post a review of a new accommodation in Chiang Khan. When I saw it, I thought, "Oh my god, this is it!" The accommodation is in a camping style, comfortable to sleep in, but it feels like sleeping in a tent. And when I saw that during the TAT event, there was a discount to 1500, my hand immediately went off. 55555 I called to book and transferred the money right away. 55555 At first, I didn't plan anything. I thought I would just travel around and find a place to stay for the second night. But luck was on my side, a girl who loves to travel but doesn't have much money. When I accidentally won a free accommodation from the page "Eat and Travel", I have to thank you very much for making this trip perfect. I've talked enough, let's start, okay? For this trip, we chose to travel at night to have more time to travel. We left our house in Chonburi around 11 pm on 18/12/2016 and arrived in Phu Ruea early in the morning. The weather was quite cold then.
After waiting for the shared taxi for a long time, we felt cold and worried that we wouldn't make it before sunrise. So, we decided to walk.
The fresh air and the beautiful scenery along the way made the journey a delight. In no time at all, we arrived at our destination. The sight that greeted us was so breathtaking that we couldn't help but let out a loud "wow!"
I would have liked to stay longer, but the sun was getting stronger and hotter, and I was very hungry, so I had to say goodbye to Phu Ruea and head down. I passed by the Christmas Tree Park and took a few photos, just a few, really. 55555
Driven by hunger, we stopped and ate whatever we could find. Once our stomachs were full, we continued our journey towards Chiang Khan.
The view along the way was breathtaking, making it impossible to resist stopping.
The GPS quickly guided us through the winding mountain roads and narrow paths, leading us to Chiang Khan. Upon arrival at our accommodation, we encountered a minor inconvenience. Check-in was not scheduled until 2 pm, but we had driven all night from Chonburi and were exhausted. We politely explained our situation to the receptionist, emphasizing our need for rest. After a brief wait, the kind staff member offered us an available room, allowing us to check in early at 10 am. This was a welcome relief, and we were eager to explore our new surroundings. Let's take a look at this brand-new camping-style accommodation with its stunning riverside location: The Camp Chiang Khan.
Upon check-in, you will receive a small canvas bag containing a tent key, breakfast coupons, and a chiffon exchange coupon. With the bag in hand, let's head inside!
Let's go see the atmosphere by the river.
And for the part of the cafe cream.
After taking some photos, it was time to explore our room for the night. We didn't put much thought into which type of tent to choose, simply opting for the cheapest option. This is the Eco Garden Camp Tent (Nature View).
Amenities: Air conditioning, refrigerator, TV, free minibar, safe. Shared bathroom, but don't worry, the shared bathroom is also very good.
Here are the restrooms, clearly divided into male and female sections. Inside, the shower rooms and toilets are separated, and there are also dressing rooms.
After exploring until we were exhausted, we took a quick nap. When we woke up, it was already evening. We had planned to cycle to the walking street, which was more than a kilometer away from our accommodation. We decided to give it a try and rented bicycles. The rental fee was 50 baht for 3 hours, but we only used them for 2 hours, and the owner didn't charge us. It was a pleasant surprise.
Exhausted and out of breath, they decided to take a break here.
The sun sets over the horizon, and my stomach growls. Time to hit the night market!
Continuing on, let's move on to the food. The famous Pad Thai is as delicious as its reputation suggests.
This is a picture of every house.
After eating until my stomach was full, I cycled back. The road was dark, but there were lights at intervals. I cycled and pushed my bike for a while before reaching my accommodation.
This morning, we will go to see the sea of fog at Phu Thok. I didn't sleep well last night, I don't know if it was excitement or something else. Around 4 am, I got ready and left at 5 am. I was going to wait for the monks to collect alms, but I was afraid of missing the sunrise, so I rushed to Phu Thok first. When I arrived, I parked my car below and took a shared taxi up for 25 baht each way. When I arrived, it was still dark, so I prayed first.
After paying respects to the Buddha, we set out to find a spot to settle down, which was almost impossible as there was hardly any space left, even though it was a weekday. The crowd was large, but not to the point of being shoulder-to-shoulder like on weekends. And the first light of day began to greet us little by little.
The ethereal beauty of Phu Thok's mist
The ethereal beauty of Phu Thok's mist left an unforgettable impression. Its delicate and graceful presence surpassed all expectations, making the journey worthwhile. While the desire to linger and soak in the mesmerizing view was strong, it was time to bid farewell.
Returning to The Camp, the morning atmosphere unfolded, inviting exploration. A delightful breakfast awaited at The Cream Cafe, promising a perfect start to the day.
After breakfast, we rested our eyes for a while before checking out of The Camp Chiang Khan at ten o'clock. We said goodbye to Chiang Khan and headed for Khao Kho. This was our third time to Khao Kho, and we chose a place we had never been to before. The first place we stopped was a new coffee shop next to Wat Pha Sorn Kaew called The Piney Bistro Cafe. The view was just as good as the shops above, and the prices were much better.
After enjoying the scenic views, we were exhausted and desperately needed a good night's sleep. We drove to our accommodation, which was located down a long, winding road. The resort recommended bringing our own food as they had grills available for rent. However, we opted for the convenience of grabbing some snacks from a nearby 7-Eleven. Soon after passing the windmills, we arrived at Khaokho Boutique Camps.
The tent is divided into two rooms that can accommodate four people, but we only went with two. The bed was soft and comfortable, the blanket was warm, and there was a fan.
The view from the tent overlooks a field of wind turbines, with a picturesque sunset as the backdrop. The daytime temperature is quite hot, but as dusk approaches, the chill sets in.
As expected of Khao Kho, where you can reach for the stars in the evening and the mist in the morning. Here, they have an activity where you can ride an "e-taen" (a kind of local tractor) up to see the view from the wind turbines. However, you have to wake up at 5 am, so we decided to pass. Today, we wanted to sleep in a little later, as we've already seen the mist at Khao Kho from many different spots.
The breakfast was a self-service ABF buffet, and we could eat as much as we wanted. After breakfast, we had to leave quickly because the sun was already making it very hot. We drove out of the accommodation and stopped to take photos at The Front, opposite the BN Farm. The entrance fee was 20 baht per person, but we were a little disappointed when we went in. The flowers were no longer beautiful, they had all withered. The farm has planted new flower beds, which should be in full bloom by the New Year.
The Journey's End: A Three-Day Adventure of Unforgettable Memories
This three-day, three-night trip was an unforgettable experience, filled with breathtaking sights and heartwarming moments. From witnessing the sunrise at Phu Ruea to embracing the slow pace of life in Chiang Khan, every stop offered something unique and captivating. The majestic mist-covered mountains of Phu Thok and the star-studded sky above Khao Kho added to the magic of the journey. This trip was truly a treasure trove of memories, and we are grateful for your interest in sharing it with us. Farewell, and until our next adventure!
