The rainy season has arrived, and being in the city can be a drag when it rains. Getting soaked on the way home, flooded streets, and traffic jams are all part of the experience. But on the mountaintop, it's a different story. The air is fresh, the scenery is breathtaking, and the urge to drive through the storm to experience the heavenly atmosphere is irresistible. This trip was a chance to make up for last year's missed opportunity to see the thick sea of fog. We set off on Friday night and arrived in Lom Sak around 2:00 AM. We didn't book any accommodation in advance, so we decided to find a place on the spot. Our first night was spent at the "Ton Ko Hotel," a roadside establishment with clean, beautiful rooms located near the road and not far from the entrance to Phu Thap Boek. We slept for 2-3 hours before driving up to Phu Thap Boek in the morning. The weather was drizzling, and we were nervous about whether we would see the sea of fog, but we had come this far, so we decided to take our chances. As we drove along the winding, steep road, we saw wisps of fog floating around the mountaintops. Finally, we reached the highest point of Phu Thap Boek, 1,768 meters above sea level. The fog was thick and widespread, and the air was cool and refreshing. At that moment, a fried egg breakfast was the perfect way to start the day.

Despite the initial disappointment of not encountering a sea of mist, only scattered patches of fog clinging to the mountaintops, we remained hopeful as the sun's rays still peeked through. We patiently waited, anticipating a clearing in the sky. Finally, at 9:00 AM, the sun emerged, and the clouds parted, revealing the fluffy, soft mist we had been longing to see. The sight was breathtaking, erasing all traces of fatigue from our 6-7 hour journey. It was a moment of pure joy and a testament to the rewards of perseverance.

After soaking in the breathtaking views and capturing countless memories at Yot Fa Mountain, it was time to bid farewell and collect our belongings at the hotel. Our next destination was Khao Kho, a familiar haven we've visited four times before. Despite our frequent visits, Khao Kho never fails to captivate us. Our culinary adventure in Khao Kho began at the renowned "Krua Khao Kho" restaurant. Living up to its reputation, the restaurant served an array of delectable dishes at incredibly affordable prices. We ordered five dishes, each more delicious than the last. Our feast included spicy jungle curry with free-range chicken, bitter melon stir-fried with egg, stir-fried shiitake mushrooms with soy sauce, and a refreshing pork blood soup. The total bill came to a mere 500 baht! Can you believe it? Impressed by the exceptional value and service, we returned to the restaurant later that evening to enjoy another delightful meal at our resort. Despite the restaurant's popularity, the staff remained attentive and provided excellent service. If you're ever in Khao Kho, be sure to visit "Krua Khao Kho" for an unforgettable culinary experience.

As I was leaving the store, it started to rain. An employee kindly walked me to my car with an umbrella, which I greatly appreciated.

After a satisfying meal, our eyelids grew heavy. Without further ado, we headed straight to our accommodation. As usual, we didn't book in advance and opted for a walk-in. Luckily, the last room was available. For tonight, we entrusted our bodies and minds to "Khao Kee Rin," a peaceful and private haven with a beautiful atmosphere, conveniently located near Wat Phra That Pha Sorn Kaew. Since this was our umpteenth visit to Khao Kho, this trip was primarily focused on relaxation rather than sightseeing. Let's take a peek at our accommodation! (You can check the accommodation rates on the Khao Kee Rin Facebook page, as prices vary depending on the season.)

The cool air and soft bed lulled me into a deep sleep. When I woke up, it was already 4 pm. After taking a shower and getting dressed, we went out to find a place to take some cool photos. We ended up at "Jolly Cafe," a charming cafe with a large tree and fairy lights that made for a perfect photo backdrop.

Let's take a look at the food and drinks. This glass is a fruit punch, which is very delicious. The food is fusion-style with a moderate taste. This light meal cost over nine hundred baht (a bit pricey), but the ambiance is worth it.

After taking countless photos, we returned to our accommodation. Before checking in, we stopped by Khao Kho Kitchen to stock up on supplies for the night. We sat on the balcony of our room, sipping drinks and enjoying the cool breeze. It was incredibly relaxing. We went to bed early that night. The next morning, we woke up and took deep breaths of fresh air. Each room had a private rooftop with swings, hammocks, and beds for lounging and enjoying the scenery.

This morning, we took our time and didn't rush. We rolled around in bed until 9 am before heading to breakfast. Let's take a look at the view from the breakfast room.

After a hearty breakfast, we packed our belongings and headed to Wat Phra That Pha Sorn Kaew and a popular coffee shop before departing.

PINO LATTE is extremely crowded.

The journey to Phetchabun is a must-visit destination. If you don't want to miss the beautiful atmosphere, fresh air, and stunning mist, find time to visit. The rainy season is when the mist is most abundant, and you'll be as happy as we are.

Thank you... See you again on the next trip.
