Many people may not know or have never heard of "Ko Tung Nang Dam". There is a local legend about Ko Tung Nang Dam in Kura Buri district. The legend is quite long, and it would be tedious to describe it here. It is better to search for it on Google for those who are interested. This review will instead tell a new story about the modern era that will make Tung Nang Dam known.
Before becoming familiar with Ko Tung Nang Dam, people were more familiar with "Talay Waek Nua Mangkorn" (Dragon's Whisker Sea Parting), which made headlines and attracted visitors last year. This is an image of Talay Waek Nua Mangkorn at dusk, captured by Verasak Pratakviriya, a photographer from Kura Buri, using a drone.
This time, I didn't go to pick up Uncle Lek, so I didn't get any high-angle drone shots. So we used this method... climbing on top of the car! Hahaha.
Many of you may not have the opportunity to capture images using a drone as I did. However, we can still achieve similar results.
We would like to express our gratitude to The Camp Resort in Thung Nang Dam for providing us with a vehicle as a base for our long-distance photography. This allowed us to capture the ripples of the sand dunes, which resembled dragon scales.
For ordinary people like me who don't have a drone, can we still take beautiful photos of the Dragon's Whiskers Sea? Let's find out!
The scenic beauty of the Dragon's Whiskers Sea lies in the streaks of sand that extend into the seawater, forming distinct lines.
In my opinion, the sunset would create a more stunning visual, but due to time constraints, a clear afternoon sky is also acceptable.
Don't forget to take a selfie.
Why is it called "Dragon's Whisker Splitting Sea"?
The story goes that a geomancer visited "Ko Tung Nang Dam" and saw that the island resembled a dragon's head (does it?).
This land, shaped like a dragon's head, is said to be rich and fertile, with elemental powers that bring prosperity and wealth to those who visit it. The location of the parting sea, situated at the dragon's whiskers, has led to its name: "Dragon's Whisker Parting Sea."
In addition to the Dragon's Whisk Sea, there is also a "Dragon Head Immortal Temple" built on the island at the point where I believe the dragon's eye is located. Let's take a look at the Dragon Head Immortal Temple.
Although still under construction, the structure appears imposing. Rumor has it that wealthy individuals donated funds for its construction, believing it would enhance their business fortune through auspicious feng shui principles.
The interior features a yin-yang courtyard designed to harmonize yin and yang energies. It is surrounded by the Eight Immortals, symbolizing prosperity and abundance.
Those who visit this place will receive yin-yang energy and good fortune. I bought a lottery ticket on my way back.
After exploring some parts of Koh Tung Nang Dam, we returned to our accommodation for the night, called THE CAMP RESORT.
Our tent was pitched right on the beach.
The spacious room is very inviting, featuring two 3.5-foot beds and two bottles of water.
Relax and enjoy the sunset by the sea.
Having admired the sleeping quarters, let's now take a look at the area in front of the tent at "Tung Nang Dam Beach".
We can't recall the last time we sat on a deserted beach, free from the hustle and bustle. This moment, on this private stretch of sand, is ours to savor.
Although Tung Nang Dam Beach may not have white sand and azure waters, it is more peaceful than any other beach.
The shy hermit crab, Emerita analoga, emerges from its burrow and walks along the beach.
Millions of sandcastles stand as testaments to the crabs' industry, awaiting the setting sun to shield them from the watchful eyes of predators before they emerge.
A multitude of tiny, colorful seashells lay scattered along the edge of the clear evening waves, stretching as far as the eye could see.
The Camp Resort offers complimentary canoe rentals, providing a leisurely activity while awaiting the delectable barbecue feast.
Or, if you prefer, you can go for a bike ride.
Beach mats laid out around the barbecue area, prepared for us by the staff of THE CAMP RESORT, according to our order.
A tantalizing display of fresh seafood barbecue is laid out on the table, awaiting the grilling of the skewers placed on the stove.
Without delay, we grilled the food together, as the delicious aroma filled the air and made our stomachs rumble.
Nothing beats the feeling of enjoying fresh seafood barbecue in a pleasant evening atmosphere.
A delectable feast was laid upon the table, surrounded by friends as the sun cast its final glow upon the day. Batteries of cameras and mobile phones dwindled, yet hearts and bodies brimmed with contentment amidst the ambiance of Ko Tung Nang Dam.
Thank you for reading until the end... I hope you find the answer to your relaxation like mine.
