Embrace the morning mist and unwind in comfort at Sunset Resort Khao Kho.
"The weather is getting colder. Where should we go for a trip with scenic fog that is not too far from Bangkok by car?"
The family has proposed a challenge for us to find a suitable destination for their next vacation.
For this trip, we opted for Khao Kho due to its convenient location, approximately a 4-5 hour drive from Bangkok. Additionally, the nearby Khao Takhian Ngoh offers stunning sunrise and sea of mist viewpoints, conveniently located near our accommodation.
We have arrived at our accommodation for this trip, Sunset Resort Khao Kho.
The entrance leads to a white greenhouse, which serves as both a cafe with a wide selection of desserts and a breakfast spot.
This is the lobby area where customers can check in and interact with staff.
The accommodation is divided into 3 types and 3 styles, with a total of 8 rooms.
1. 2-bedroom vintage apartment
2. Modern 3 bedrooms
3. Modern Deluxe 3 bedrooms
The room types are arranged in a descending order, with the Vintage room being the highest, located above the lobby. Next is the Modern room, and the lowest is the Modern Deluxe room, which is located at the front of the building with an unobstructed view. We chose the Modern Deluxe room because it can accommodate four people, with a sofa bed as an extra bed.
Before reaching our room, we passed a modern-style room. I took a quick photo of the front as all room types were fully occupied on the day of our stay. This particular room has a fan, so during the cold season, it would be comfortably cool without needing to turn on the air conditioning.
We arrived at our accommodation, a modern deluxe room. This room is newly built and is the newest type available here. There are a total of 3 rooms: 106, 107, and 108. We stayed in room 108, the rightmost room in the picture.
Stepping inside the room, you'll be greeted by a 6-foot bed. The balcony in front offers a wooden daybed for relaxing and enjoying the fresh air. Pillows are provided for two additional guests who will be sleeping on the extra bed.
A gray sofa bed is visible in the corner of the room, which can be pulled out to create an additional bed.

From this angle, the distinct levels of the rooms are clearly visible. The topmost level, painted in blue and white, houses the vintage rooms. The levels below comprise the modern and modern deluxe rooms.
This area serves as a lounge during the day and transforms into a dining zone at night, where guests can enjoy barbecue activities.
This location offers unique and stylish corners perfect for capturing memorable photos.
As dusk settles, the resort illuminates with stunning lights, creating a captivating ambiance.
The BBQ set we ordered was the mixed set, priced at 899 baht. It included one pork chop, one sirloin steak, a seafood platter with shrimp, mussels, and squid, two BBQ skewers (one pork and one chicken), assorted vegetables, and bread. If you want to add more items to grill, you can purchase them separately. Please note that BBQ sets must be pre-ordered one day before your stay.
Guests are welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages, such as liquor and beer, or they can order from the accommodation's bar. We observed other groups of friends having a lively party at their tables.
The appearance of the food is appealing. The shrimp and squid are fresh. We did not eat the clams because we were too lazy to peel them, but the people we were with said they were fresh as well. The meat was a bit tough for us, possibly because the pieces were thick and quite large.
We grilled the food while my mother and grandmother enjoyed their meal.
After a satisfying dinner, we sat on the balcony of our room to stargaze. The weather during our stay was nearing the end of December, and the nights were quite chilly. The wind would send shivers down our spines as it blew.
What could be better than gazing at the stars with your loved one? No matter how cold it is, your heart will be filled with warmth.
The next morning, we woke up around 5:00 AM and quickly showered and got dressed to catch the sunrise at Khao Takhian Ngoh viewpoint, which was about 3 kilometers from our accommodation. It took less than 10 minutes to drive there.
This is our first time visiting the Khao Takhian Ngoh viewpoint, even though we have been to Khao Kho many times before.
The highlight of this place, in our opinion, is not only the beautiful sunrise but also the 360-degree view of the sea of mist. From the viewpoint, you can see Khao Pu and Khao Ya, which resemble Mount Fuji. It's a stunning view that is a pleasure to behold.
The day we went up, the staff said that the fog was about 70%. Some days, the staff said that the fog would be thicker, covering the entire mountain. However, we still considered ourselves lucky to see it, even though it wasn't a lot, because on some previous trips to Khao Kho, we often missed the fog altogether. It all depends on nature and luck.
An entrance fee of 10 baht per person is required. Camping tents are available for rent, or visitors can bring their own.
After soaking in the natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere for a while, we headed back to enjoy the breakfast prepared by the resort.
Upon arrival at the accommodation, most guests were already awake and starting to gather for breakfast. From the accommodation, one could see a light mist floating in the air.

The breakfast spread included scrambled eggs, ham, sausages, bread, rice porridge, milk, and cornflakes. However, I wasn't very hungry, so I only took a small portion.
After we were full, we took a few more photos of the accommodation.
Before returning to Bangkok, we couldn't resist lying down and rolling around in the cool air for a while longer. It was so comfortable that we didn't want to leave.
Before leaving, I captured a high-angle shot of the accommodation for you.
This concludes my review of the Khao Kho trip. If you are planning a trip to Khao Kho and haven't booked your accommodation yet, I hope this review will help you make a decision. [Spoil] Click to view hidden message
