1 Day in Lamphun (Not) Alone with 6 Places I Went with Her ^_^

Would you like to travel to Lamphun with us?

The province is not large and has a rooster bowl as its symbol. This city is a lovely city. If anyone stops by, they will immediately fall in love. Hi!!! Due to our busy schedule, we decided to explore Lampang for a full day, not too tight, not too loose, with 6 tourist attractions in Lampang that are worth checking in. You can easily follow the trip. Oh, come on, let's see how "1 day in Lampang" will be like for the two of us??

Let's get to know Lampang a little.

The original name of Lampang Province was "Khelang Nakhon", and it was a twin capital with the Hariphunchai Kingdom. The rulers of both cities at that time were twin sons of Queen Chama Thevi. Lampang is a province with a very interesting Lanna civilization, including ancient customs and traditions, ancient temples, delicious food, and fascinating local architecture. Nowadays, many people visit Lampang and take horse-drawn carriage rides around the city, taking selfies to show off.

In terms of natural tourism, Lampang is still very pristine. There are many beautiful places to visit, including caves, waterfalls, nature trails, and hot springs. We believe that Lampang has much more to offer than just being a stopover city as many people think.

Getting to Lampang

- By plane: Nok Air and Bangkok Airways offer 7 flights per day, with a flight time of 1.25 hours.
- By bus: There are many bus companies that operate in Lampang. The one I use regularly is Nakhonchai Air. http://www2.nakhonchaiair.com/
- By train: The State Railway of Thailand has daily trains to Lampang. You can book tickets here: https://www.thairailwayticket.com/eTSRT/

Getting around Lampang Province

- Songthaews (shared taxis) run around the city, with fares starting from around 20-40 baht depending on the distance.
- Horse-drawn carriages offer city tours for around 200 baht/20 minutes or 300 baht/hour. They can be found in front of the Old City Hall and near the old hotels in Lampang city center.
- Motorcycle taxis and motorcycle sidecars are also available (fares unknown).
- Car rentals are affordable and offer good service with a wide selection of vehicles.

"Traveling expands our horizons." This quote inspired my partner and me to embark on a journey of exploration together. We created a small page called "Escape Work, Travel" and a blog at www.ibreak2travel.com. Reading this far, we want to say...

Years ago, when we first met, "I was a tourist who had to work a regular job, while my partner was a regular worker who wanted to travel sometimes." We were so different, but when we started dating, our two differences found a balance that led us to the point where we wanted to create a page to take our fellow working friends to travel with us. We can go, anyone can go like us, please support our shop.

"Give our page a quick Like to show your support and let us know you're still with us. Remember, even hard work needs a break!"

There are many ways to get around the province, as mentioned earlier. However, to save time, we opted to rent a car. This was a cost-effective option with a wide selection of vehicles and excellent service. However, a credit card is required for car rentals. It is recommended to book your rental car at least one day in advance.

An army marches on its stomach. We arrived in Lampang early in the morning and hadn't eaten anything yet. We both love northern Thai food, so we decided to have khao soi and sai oua for breakfast.

At "Mukda Kanom Jeen", the taste is decent and they are generous with the ingredients. Just look at the vegetables, it's like they bought out the entire garden!

This restaurant is located on the airport road, near the Duangklom Bookstore, Lampang branch.

Places to Visit with You

1. Wat Si Rong Muang

This Burmese-Shan temple boasts distinctive architecture. Founded in 1899 by a Shan patron, it features a half-brick, half-wooden teakwood vihara. The interior showcases intricate stucco and painted designs adorned with colorful stained glass. The pillars are embellished with stained glass and calligraphy. The temple houses a massive carved teakwood Buddha statue, said to be the largest in the world. The temple grounds are lush and serene. A large Bodhi tree graces the southern side. Every full moon of the sixth lunar month, the temple hosts a traditional Bodhi tree bathing ceremony.

The front of the temple features Burmese-style architecture.

In front, there is a lotus pond with a small Buddha statue in the center.

After paying respects at the temple, it's time to satisfy your hunger with some delicious snacks and drinks.

Location 2: "Hmong Ngoy Sin" Restaurant

A unique and distinctive Lanna-style coffee shop and art gallery.

The shop is located on the walking street of Kad Kong Ta, which is interesting because the shop building is an old, preserved building built in 1908 by Burmese craftsmen. The gingerbread house style with a jasmine roof is two and a half stories high, half concrete and half wood, decorated with stained glass. In addition to sweets and drinks,

Stained glass artwork that adds vibrant color to the store.

The interior features stucco-style artwork and a variety of vintage items for sale.

Sipping tea or coffee and savoring snacks within a building of ancient architecture is akin to traveling back in time to experience the Lampang of yesteryear.

Souvenirs can be purchased from this shop.

This table contains several items.

- Mango Sticky Rice Set (serves 6)
- Cold Roti with Kiwi and Yogurt Sauce
- Burmese Milk Tea (hot)

Phama Milk Tea (hot) served with crispy rice crackers - The taste is okay. The tea is fragrant and drinking it hot while snacking on the crispy rice crackers is a good combination.

Location 3: Walking Street in Lampang City

This area is designated as a conservation zone. The buildings and houses along this street are of great interest, and the lifestyle of the local residents is equally fascinating.

The horse-drawn carriage in Lampang is a famous attraction. To experience its charm, take a ride and explore the city.

Horse-drawn carriage tour in Lampang

The horse-drawn carriage tour in Lampang costs around 200 baht for 20 minutes or 300 baht for an hour. The carriages are located in front of the Old City Hall and near the old hotels in the city center.

The architectural charm of the old town

I came across an elderly woman making coconut custard cakes. I stopped to greet her. She has been selling coconut custard cakes and melon cakes here for 20 years. The taste is delicious and the price is very cheap!!! Come and support her.

Sweet and adorable cup cakes.

Good taste, not sweet.

The aunt was determined to show off her carving skills.

The friendly aunt welcomes you to stop by and support her business. If you mention that you saw her on the "Escape Work, Travel" page, she will offer you the regular price.

Location 4: Boiling Eggs at Jae Son

**Jae Son Hot Spring** is a geothermal wonder with a mild sulfur scent. It encompasses nine pools spread across three rai of land. Scattered throughout the area are small and large rock formations, with steam rising from the pools like mist. The average temperature of the hot spring is 73 degrees Celsius.

A popular activity is to soak chicken and quail eggs in the spring. Chicken eggs, when soaked for approximately 17 minutes, will have a firm, flavorful yolk and a soft, custard-like white. This preparation is now commonly referred to as "onsen egg" in Thailand.

Near the tourist service area (close to the parking lot), there is an egg shop. We bought a whole basket of eggs. By the pond, there are long sticks that can be used to lower the eggs into the water.

After boiling, peel and season with Maggi.

Location 5: Exploring Rural Life: Rice Fields, Rubber Plantations, and Scenic Views

The scenic beauty of Lampang province is further enhanced by a leisurely drive through the countryside, where locals continue to practice traditional agriculture. Lush rice paddies, rubber plantations, fruit orchards, and livestock farms paint a vibrant picture of rural life. This idyllic scene, a stark contrast to the urban landscape of Bangkok, evokes a sense of warmth and tranquility.

Observing different ways of life can bring joy and a sense of wonder.

Scenic roads on the way back from Jae Son

We encountered an elderly man tapping rubber trees. We were surprised. "Hey! Why are there rubber trees planted in Lampang?" "Hey! Why are you tapping rubber at 4 pm?" Curiosity got the better of us, and we ran over to ask him. 5555

Uncle Jareon, the owner of the garden, is demonstrating rubber tapping. Uncle said that his garden usually taps in the morning, but during this period, the weather is cold, so he has to tap in the late afternoon.

The rubber flows continuously.

Location 6: "Kad Kong Ta"

A popular hangout spot for young people in Lampang, Kad Kong Ta walking street, requires only two things: your presence and an open mind.

1. Bring lots of money, there's plenty of food.

2. Fill your stomach with food, there's nothing but deliciousness here.

The market opens from 5:00 PM onwards.

The Lampang Walking Street, starting from the road near Kad Kong Ta and extending to several alleys, comes alive on Saturday and Sunday evenings. Local vendors set up stalls selling a wide variety of goods, including food, drinks, snacks, souvenirs, and handicrafts. It's a delightful experience to stroll through the bustling market.

The Rooster Brand, a hallmark of earthenware from Lampang.

Seafood "khanom krok" 5555. It may look unusual, but it's not surprising since I've tried it before. This vendor's flavor is excellent.

Rice crackers are widely available, but we have a particular fondness for them.

This shop's fresh "thong muan" is delicious. The dough is fragrant and made fresh.

The author's friend calls their vegetarian stir-fried instant noodles "Soyyaki," which sounds Japanese and costs only 20 baht.

I hope you enjoyed your first day in Lampang.
