After a tiring week of work, everyone would want to find a place to recharge their batteries with beautiful views, a pleasant atmosphere, away from the hustle and bustle, and not too far away...

After an extensive search, we stumbled upon The Floatel Buntern, a floating hotel in Kanchanaburi. The name alone piqued our interest, as we were unaware of the existence of floating hotels. Moreover, its proximity to Bangkok made it an ideal destination. Without further ado, we packed our bags, grabbed our cameras, and set off for Kanchanaburi.

The Floatel is a floating hotel offering a comprehensive range of amenities, including electricity, fans, bathrooms, bathtubs, a swimming pool, and a sound system. Notably, air conditioning is not available, as the hotel utilizes solar power as its primary energy source, with a generator serving as a backup. Situated in the heart of the Vajiralongkorn Dam in Thong Pha Phum District, Kanchanaburi Province, the Floatel can be towed to Sangkhla Buri.

The raft dock is located just 10 km from Thong Pha Phum Market. If you are driving to the dam, look for a small sign on the right-hand side that says "The Floatel Buntern" in Soi 4. Turn right when you see it and drive straight ahead until you reach the pier. Park your car in the parking lot on the left and then carry your belongings onto the raft.

The walkway to the floating platform is made of bundled bamboo, which may seem a bit precarious but is actually safe. The water near the dam is not very deep.

This is the boat that will take us to The Floatel.

During the initial stages of the boat trip, there was still a signal. We used AIS, but when we reached the first overnight anchorage point, the signal completely died, cutting us off from social media.

Upon arriving at the pier, we immediately headed to the waterfront. The view was stunning.

Contrary to popular belief, there is no shortage of activities to keep you entertained on the raft. In fact, two days and one night were simply not enough for us. If you're curious to learn more, follow along!

Let's take a look at the bedrooms. The raft has 4 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, all with en-suite bathrooms. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated and inviting.

For those considering a stay here, I recommend coming with a group of 10-16 people for the best value. I will provide a price summary at the end.

Thrill-seekers will love the diving trampoline, while those seeking relaxation can enjoy the cool breeze.

The raft features a swimming pool for children, which adults can also enjoy. The pool's edge lights change color, creating a perfect ambiance for nighttime parties.

Those who wish to kayak on the raft can do so for free. There are four kayaks available. In simple terms, a one-time payment covers everything, including lodging and meals.

When I'm tired, I like to sit and relax, looking at the water and the sky. It's really peaceful.

After a long day of running errands, it was time to eat. When the food arrived, I was shocked by the sheer quantity. Everything was delicious, and I wanted to take the chef home with me.

The atmosphere around the raft.

You can relax on the sofa by the dam.

The light is perfect for capturing the beautiful atmosphere as a keepsake.

Or if you come as a couple, paddling a boat amidst the sunset is incredibly romantic.

As for us single people, it's better to sit and watch the sunset from the bedroom window like this. Haha.

Watching the sunset in the middle of a peaceful dam is truly heartwarming.

As the sun sets, dinner arrives, and it's even more substantial than lunch. Grilled prawns, fresh grilled squid, spicy salads, chili dips, and grilled pork neck are just a few of the highlights.

There was so much food that even with a group of over ten people, we couldn't finish it all. And it wasn't just the quantity; the quality was exceptional.

One day was spent living a relaxed life on The Floatel. It was a very fun and memorable day. The next morning, those who woke up early could see the mist hovering over the water, welcoming the first light of the rising sun.

The two-day, one-night trip left us feeling energized and ready to take on the world. If you're looking for a fun getaway with friends, this is the perfect option for you. The package price for a group of 16 people is approximately 2,300 baht per person, which includes all meals and activities.
