The alarm clock rings, and I quickly get out of bed to take care of my personal needs.

Grabbing my bag, I set off for my destination:

Khiriwongkot Village, Udon Thani Province.

Khiriwongkot Village is located approximately 100 kilometers from Udon Thani city center, resulting in a journey of over 2 hours. Following Google Maps, I embark on the long drive.

The verdant rice fields and towering mountains that lined the road were a sight to behold, making the journey seem to fly by.

We arrived at the tourist service center of Kiriwongkot Village.

After talking to the village elder, Norin, the first program we will be doing is

Riding an E-Taek to Go Down the Rapids

Just hearing the name is exciting. Ordinary whitewater rafting is too ordinary. Now that we've come to Kiriwongkot, we have to ride an E-Taek down the rapids.

Riding an E-taek Through the Village Streets: A Glimpse into Simple Living

The journey begins with a ride on an e-taek, a traditional Thai vehicle, traversing the village roads. As we pass through, the landscape unfolds, revealing a tapestry of rice paddies and lush forests. The simplicity of life here is evident in the unhurried pace and the humble dwellings that line the way.

The abundance of nature is a constant presence, with verdant fields stretching as far as the eye can see and the vibrant green of the forest canopy overhead. This harmonious coexistence between man and nature creates a sense of tranquility and peace.

And finally, it's time for whitewater rafting. In reality, it's more like riding a pickup truck through the water.

Even though it's not the same as real whitewater rafting, it's still a unique experience.

Wading through the water and running through the rubber plantation

Some sections are almost 45 degrees steep, it is recommended to hold on tight

After a pleasant ride, we arrived at the "Huai Chang Phluai Waterfall".

It is one of the highlights of this place. The waterfall is a 2-tier waterfall. The lower tier is a high waterfall.

There is also a water slide to play on. It is recommended not to miss it.

If you're looking for stunning photos to share on social media, don't miss the opportunity to capture the beauty of the waterfall from above.

As we strolled along, taking photos, the tantalizing aroma of food wafted through the air, beckoning us to follow its trail.

For our meal, we were presented with a delectable spread of grilled fish, roasted chicken, and spicy papaya salad.

A fragrant sour curry with fish and banana blossom was served in a bamboo tube, accompanied by sticky rice grilled in another bamboo tube.

The food was incredibly delicious! I forgot to mention that all the serving containers were made from natural materials.

From the banana leaf plates to the bamboo cups and even the spoons, everything was made from bamboo.

It's amazing how they use natural materials, helping our planet and reducing plastic use.

If you're still hungry, feel free to ask for more! You can refill as much as you want.

After a short stroll around the waterfall, the sky began to turn ominous.

A light drizzle prompted us to return to the village to secure accommodation.

Our accommodation for tonight is a homestay. The room is a large dormitory-style room.

It has air conditioning, two large beds, and a private bathroom. The landlady is very kind.

The aunt grows almost all kinds of vegetables and fruits. When she is hungry, she can just walk into the garden. 555

The View from the Back of the House: A Tranquil Landscape

The back of the house opens onto a vast expanse of rice fields, stretching as far as the eye can see. As the sun sets, its golden rays bathe the rice stalks, creating a mesmerizing spectacle against the backdrop of a gentle breeze. This idyllic scene evokes a sense of tranquility and invites one to linger, savoring the moment.

The accommodation offers bicycles for rent, and for those who prefer a more adventurous ride, the friendly owner also provides motorcycles for loan.

After exploring the surroundings, playing with the dog and the cat, it was time to retire for the night.

Lunch was already a feast, but dinner was the final blow.

There was so much food, and it was all delicious!

I'm not exaggerating, it was seriously amazing. We had several helpings of rice.

Our stomachs are full, and our eyelids are getting heavy. Time to call it a night.

On the second morning, we had an early appointment because Khao Kiri Wong has a sea of fog.

Before going up the mountain, we refueled with deep-fried dough sticks and grilled sticky rice. Ready to go!

Unfortunately, the wind is strong due to the recent storm.

Therefore, the fog has changed its mind and is not visible to us.

However, the view in front of us is still worth it.

After soaking in the atmosphere, we descended from the viewpoint.

Passing through the villagers' rubber plantation, we took a peek at the rubber sap.

Upon arrival, the food was promptly served.

The breakfast was once again extravagant, with an endless supply of delicious options.

Time flies so fast on our 2 days 1 night trip.

The damage is 1300 baht per person (excluding travel expenses).

It's worth it. We escaped the hustle and bustle and got to be with nature.

It's like we got to recharge our batteries before going back to work.
