Today, we will embark on a journey to the north of Thailand with Thai Railways in a new format.

•°•.★* "Utrawithi Express" *★ .•°•

This train lives up to its name, offering both exceptional comfort and outstanding service.

Booking a train ticket is a breeze.

Simply call the State Railway of Thailand's Call Center at '1690'.

You can book tickets up to 60 days in advance.

Since our trip was during a long holiday weekend

and it was high season, we had to book 60 days in advance.

At 8:00 am sharp, we picked up the phone and called.

We got our ticket number right away and screamed with joy. We booked it!

After we got our ticket number, we had to pay for it to get the actual ticket.

We could do this at any train station in Thailand.

And that was it. We just had to wait for our travel date.

**Important: Do not lose your ticket!

Our travel time coincides perfectly with dinner and bedtime.

We wake up to the fresh morning air of Chiang Mai.

Bangkok → Chiang Mai, 6:10 PM → 7:15 AM

Chiang Mai → Bangkok, 6:00 PM → 6:50 AM

Price: Upper bunk 791 baht, Lower bunk 881 baht/trip

On the day of the trip, we gathered at the head of the Hua Lamphong Railway Station to board the train.

Around 5 o'clock, the train arrived and stopped at the platform, waiting for us. :)

We can go up and sit on the train.

Excited, let's hurry up and get on board. But where is our train?

Finding your train is easy. Look for the signs on each carriage.

Train number 009

Carriage number 02

Travelling from Bangkok ► Chiang Mai

We found our cabin, let's hurry up and go up.

Wow, the first thing that impressed me was

the newness and cleanliness. The staff were all smiles.

We took photos, sat around, and got excited. It was time for the train to leave.

The seats are equipped with a central table for placing items/water bottles.

or computers for working.

Free bottled water is also available from the Thai Railway, which is quite impressive.

All entrance doors are touch-activated.

They open and close silently, ensuring a peaceful sleep.

Around 7 pm, the staff will ask us,

"Would you like to make your bed now?"

If you are sleepy, you can make it. Or, if you are still enjoying the atmosphere,

the staff will not mind.

The staff member then neatly arranged the bedding.

Every bed has a charging station

and a compartment for small items.

It's perfect for chatting, playing games, watching movies, or listening to music without worrying about your battery dying.

When it's time for bed, all the seats will have their light-blocking curtains closed.

Around 11 or 12 pm, the train will dim its lights slightly.

For safety, all passenger compartments are equipped with CCTV cameras.

There are also screens to check the status of the male and female restrooms.

In addition, you can check the travel status. That's great!

The bathroom is divided into two sections: a sink area and a private toilet area.

The bathroom has a total of three rooms.

Let's take a look inside.

The bathroom is just the right size for turning around.

Toilet paper and toilet flusher

Bathroom sink with tissue paper

Exhaust fan

End of the bathroom topic.

Are you hungry yet? :P

Let's move on to the dining car on the train, shall we?

The food here is pre-packaged and ready-to-eat, such as microwaveable meals.

Instant noodles and dumplings are also available.

The order taker provided excellent service, which was impressive.

At the food ordering counter.

Once we have placed our order, the staff will prepare the food for us at the back.

Pay and wait according to the queue number.

(If there are a lot of people, you have to wait a bit.)

Our dinner tonight is Japanese food.

Dining seats

Free WiFi is available at the restaurant.

Full stomach, heavy eyelids.

Time to go to bed :)

The train is quiet and smooth, slept soundly until morning.

Can we sleep longer? Don't be in a hurry to arrive plsssss...

Around 6:00 AM, the staff will come to collect the bedding.

So you can wash your face and get ready to get off the train and continue your trip :)

Enjoying the morning breeze and scenic views before arriving at Chiang Mai Station.

A slow-paced life, without rushing, is good for the soul.

The train ride was so much fun, I'll definitely be back for more next time.

We're almost there... Chiang Mai Railway Station

The air is so refreshing, it's truly Chiang Mai in the winter :)

You can then continue your journey by red car or tuk-tuk, whichever you prefer.

Thai train review is over. Thank you everyone for joining me on this train journey.

See you next time when we ride a motorcycle to Doi Luang Chiang Dao together.
