This review is based on my personal experience and taste buds. The food was sour, sweet, savory, and salty, which reflects my own palate. Please don't take offense if you have different preferences.

Not even out of Suvarnabhumi Airport yet, but already grabbing a bite at the King Power Lounge!

The King Power Lounge offers a variety of refreshments, including dim sum, bread, sandwiches, cakes, soft drinks, herbal drinks, tea, coffee, milk, and frothed milk. I used my SCB King Power credit card, which allows two people to enter with one card. The lounge is located in the Gate A zone, at the end of the last intersection, turn left.

Next, I will take you all to visit Takayama Old Town. To be honest, before coming here, I didn't know where to walk or what was interesting. I just wanted to go to Shirakawa-go, which I could only get to by bus from here.

How to get to Takayama Old Town:

While I can't provide specific directions due to the lack of details, I can assure you that crossing the Miyagawa River will lead you to the Old Town.

Food options:

Please note that finding vegetarian options in Takayama can be challenging, as the city is renowned for its Hida beef. However, there are still some restaurants offering chicken, fish, and vegetarian dishes.

As I mentioned earlier, I didn't even know there was an Old Town here. But this alleyway has so many tourists coming and going that I'm curious to see what they're looking at. Let's follow them.

This restaurant serves Hida beef buns. The buns are large and filling, but they are also quite expensive at 500 JPY each. The interior design of the restaurant is cute. I went inside because it was very cold outside.

Steaming hot meat buns are here! To be honest, the taste is a bit salty and sweet. Personally, I'm indifferent, but I do love the texture of the bun. It's soft and springy, with a satisfying bite. The steam from the freshly steamed bun is simply amazing! Haha!

This is Hida beef rice bowl. The taste is like the meat in a bun, salty and sweet. The soup on the side is very salty. Maybe I'm not eating it right, I don't know how to eat it. Haha! But the smell of the meat is very strong.

After leaving the meat bun shop, I came across this restaurant with a long queue. Since I was already there, I decided to join the queue to buy Hida beef sushi. The price in the picture in my hand is 900 JPY, but the taste is truly worth more than 900 yen. The beef is incredibly tender and melts in your mouth. It's raw, but it's truly delicious. At first, I didn't think it would be that amazing, but after taking a bite, I was speechless. It's hard to describe how good it is. I highly recommend trying it.

The next stop is an ice cream shop that opened at Paragon in our country. However, this place offers a variety of desserts. I like the atmosphere of the shop's decor. It looks warm, comfortable, and has a local style. It maintains the local identity, which is very impressive.

The taste is not bad, it is delicious, soft, creamy, very creamy. I like the crème brûlée, it is very delicious. The sugar coating on top is crispy and delicious, not too sweet, it is perfect. As for the price, the ice cream is 500 JPY and the crème brûlée is around 600-700 JPY.

Exiting Old Town, I turned left at the intersection to return to my hotel and collect my luggage. I stumbled upon another yakiniku restaurant. The friendly owner beckoned me in with a warm "Dozo!" I couldn't resist and ordered a skewer for 500 JPY. The aroma of butter was intoxicating. The owner skillfully placed a sheet of foil on the charcoal grill, spread butter on it, and then laid the Hida beef on top. The taste was simply divine!

This restaurant, called Sengoku-ya, is a yakiniku restaurant with reasonable prices. It is not too expensive compared to other restaurants.

To reach Sengoku-ya, face the Country Hotel Takayama and turn right. At the three-way intersection, with souvenir shops on both corners, turn left. Continue straight until you reach the second four-way intersection, then turn right and walk 10 meters. I ordered a large amount of food, approximately 9-10 items, for a total of 1700 baht.

This restaurant is located directly opposite JR Takayama Station and offers a taste that truly tantalizes the palate. The crispy fried squid and ramen look particularly enticing. I opted for a local specialty, Hida beef stir-fried in miso sauce. The dish arrived with raw Hida beef, miso sauce at the bottom, vegetables, and a signature dried leaf placed on a stove. Diners are expected to stir-fry the ingredients themselves. The overall taste was salty, making it best enjoyed with rice.

The highlight of this trip was definitely the Hida beef sushi at this restaurant. Two pieces for 700 JPY. You can see how I felt in the video below. It was amazing, truly amazing. If you can't eat raw fish, don't worry, there are other delicious options on the menu. But this was truly the best.

The next day, I had to try it again, but I ordered an additional menu item. Yesterday, I saw the table next to me order this to eat with the yakisoba noodles. It was 900 JPY. The stir-fried soba noodles were 250 JPY. In short, it was salty. Haha! Seriously, how can people here eat this? Haha! But it's also a unique characteristic of the people here.

Let's hop over to Nagoya. Since I arrived, I haven't had a chance to enjoy some authentic sashimi. For this meal, I visited the Food Center Festival Market at Laguna Ten Bosch, where I also saw the Thousand Sunny ship from One Piece. The sashimi set was only 600 JPY, and the taste was decent. It was incredibly affordable! The tempura rice bowl was also around 500-600 yen, which was very reasonable. It was delicious and huge, but the bottom was a bit oily. I recommend sticking to the top part of the bowl. (This was the cheapest option available there, haha!)

This restaurant is the first one located in the Nabana no Sato Garden. I came here to see the Illumination light show. The entrance fee is 2300 yen, but they give you a 1000 yen coupon. Since I was very hungry, I walked in and found the first restaurant I could. This meal for two people cost 2400 yen. I only had to pay an additional 400 yen. I honestly don't remember the taste of the food. I was so hungry that anything would have tasted good! Haha.

Yamachan is a renowned restaurant in Nagoya, known for its delectable fried chicken. The chicken is coated in a special sauce, creating an irresistible aroma that is sure to tantalize the taste buds. This particular branch is the main outlet, conveniently located in the Sakae district. To reach the restaurant, simply head towards Oasis21 and use Google Maps for precise directions.

Here is a map for you.

Whoever eats this without licking their fingers...oh my, it's the taste of pepper! Pepper, I tell you!

The food was so delicious that I had to go back for more. However, I later found out that there was another branch just 20 steps away from the APA Nagoya Nishiki Excellent Hotel. Haha, why did I walk so far yesterday? Just turn right outside the hotel and walk 20 steps, and the restaurant is on the corner. Today I ordered grilled fish, which took a long time to arrive. However, it was definitely worth the wait.

For those looking for a budget-friendly dining option, Yoshinoya and Sukiya offer meals for two people for around 1200 JPY or less.

Just a little more, everything in Family Mart is delicious. Haha.
