...For those seeking a tranquil escape amidst mountains, verdant rice fields, cool air, and wispy mist, "Thung Saliam" might be the perfect destination...
"Thung Saliam", or "Tong Saliam", may not be familiar to people from other provinces. It is a quiet and peaceful district with a slow pace of life.
This route passes through Sukhothai before heading north to Lamphang, Lamphun, Chiang Mai, and Chiang Rai. Thung Saliam, one of the nine districts of Sukhothai province, is not well-known to many tourists. It is located about 68 kilometers from Mueang Sukhothai district. It is a community that has expanded from Thaen district, Lamphang province. It is a gateway to Lanna, with a natural environment surrounded by mountain ranges and temples.
And there are beautiful rice fields.
My journey for this trip began in Sukhothai Province. I chose the blue route on Google Maps, which passed through Sukhothai Historical Park and used the road.
Continue straight on Highway 1113 and turn left onto Highway 1048 (Sawahluak District - Phaen District, Lampang Province).
"Wat Tung Sliehm" houses the revered "Luang Pho Sila," a sandstone Buddha statue discovered within the Tham Chao Ram cave. The statue was stolen in 1977 but was fortunately recovered and returned to Wat Tung Sliehm in 1997.
"Luang Pho Sila"
Next, "We visited Wat Pipatmongkol," which houses a golden Buddha statue and features a Lanna-style wiharn and a Ho Kham Luang.
This section is still under construction and is not yet complete.
The Golden Pavilion enshrines Luang Pho Tan Jai.
Approaching noon, we inquired with the locals, who recommended "Tum Yawk Krok," a restaurant located near Wat Pipatmongkol.

After a satisfying meal, we decided to grab some coffee at "Baan Hom Klin Coffee Shop," a roadside cafe prominently located before entering Thung Saliam district. However, to our disappointment, it was closed.
The atmosphere in Thung Saliam district
The majority of the population here are farmers, engaged in rice cultivation, field crops, and horticulture.

If you happen to pass by Thung Saliam, stop by and take a look. Go for a bike ride and experience the fresh morning air. Just this much... is already blissful. ^^
