"Mecca of Football"

Ah, Wembley Stadium in London! The name rings a bell for any football fan.

For football fans, the classic image of Wembley Stadium must include its iconic twin towers.

^ Thanks to http://oldfootballgrounds.co.uk/wembley-stadium for the image of Wembley Stadium above. ^

The iconic image of the twin towers is now a memory, as the stadium was closed in 2001 and underwent a major reconstruction, expanding its capacity to 90,000 seats at a cost of over £800 million (approximately $1 billion USD). The new stadium was unveiled in 2007.

However, what is the new look of the Mecca of football? How grand will it be? Let's go and see the Mecca of football together. ^^

The journey to Shabu Shabu Megga Cineplex is incredibly convenient, thanks to the British government's investment of over £70 million (approximately 3 billion baht) in the transportation infrastructure. This investment has resulted in a comprehensive public transportation network, including the London Underground (known as the Tube), trains, and buses, to accommodate the large crowds. Passengers can access the venue via the Wembley Park (5-10 minutes walk), Wembley Stadium (3-5 minutes walk), and Wembley Central (15-20 minutes walk) stations on the London Underground.

Due to the complexity and high volume of passengers on the London Underground, especially on days with football matches at various stadiums in London, it is highly recommended to allow at least 2-3 hours of travel time or even 4-5 hours in advance if attending a match at this stadium. Otherwise, expect to encounter significant crowds throughout your journey.

However, Wembley is not our backyard that we can visit frequently. Since we are going to indulge in football, let's go big by watching the 2012 Olympic women's football final between Japan, the 2011 World Cup champions, and the United States, the two-time World Cup champions, three-time Olympic champions, and also the defending champions from the 2008 Olympics.

We have arrived at Wembley Park Station. The excitement is building as we approach the iconic Wembley Stadium, the home of English football and the venue for the Olympic football finals. The atmosphere is electric, with fans from all over the world eagerly anticipating the spectacle that awaits them.

Exiting Wembley Park station, a long walkway leads to the stadium. The initial stretch involves an underpass, with the stadium still a distant sight. However, the aura of the iconic arch, a symbol of the new football mecca replacing the twin towers, stands out majestically. The vibrant atmosphere created by the tens of thousands of people who have spontaneously gathered adds to the excitement. The anticipation is palpable.

Emerging from the underpass, the towering structures lining the streets may still partially obstruct the view. However, Wembley Stadium grows increasingly majestic with each step closer, captivating the attention of all who behold it. The sheer scale and grandeur of the stadium leave onlookers in awe.

"Wembley, are you ready for an exciting show?"

Hooray!

Throughout the race, volunteer officials shouted encouragement to the crowd, occasionally singing songs to motivate them. The crowd responded with enthusiastic cheers each time.

Please stop teasing me, I'm already excited enough!

(London hosted the 2012 Olympics with the help of nearly 100,000 volunteers who ensured a smooth experience for spectators throughout the tournament. Wembley Stadium alone had thousands of dedicated volunteers. The dedication of the volunteers and the organization of the host city are commendable. I will write more about this experience when I have the opportunity.)

After nearly half an hour of walking, we finally arrived at the edge of Wembley Stadium.

No, you read it correctly. We walked, sang, and took pictures all the way, almost everyone. We all had a great time. ^^

With a capacity of 90,000 seats, this stadium is the largest in the British Isles and the second largest in Europe. Both the original and the new versions of the stadium have hosted numerous major sporting events, including the Olympic Games, the FIFA World Cup, the UEFA European Championship, the UEFA Champions League Final, major boxing matches, and countless world-class events and concerts. This rich history is commemorated in various forms around the stadium, creating a monumental chronicle that offers visitors a fascinating opportunity to learn about the venue's past.

In addition to the rich history embedded in every molecule of the stadium, this newly renovated football Mecca is also equipped with comprehensive facilities, making it an ideal recreational space for people of all ages. These facilities include ramps for people with disabilities, stroller parking, a ticket verification system to prevent counterfeit tickets, a security system, clean restrooms, and more.

After passing through the ticket and baggage check, the spacious and airy area under the stands around the stadium is filled with restaurants and souvenir shops. You can be sure that you won't go hungry or thirsty at this Mecca of football.

Imagine being one of the hundred thousand spectators at the Olympic football final at Wembley Stadium, the Mecca of football. Wow! What a dream! But that dream has now come true.

While the outcome of the competition may not have been favorable for the Asian teams, everyone left the game with smiles and happy hearts, having enjoyed the shared experience of the football Mecca.

If given the opportunity, I would like to try a stadium tour on a non-match or event day. This would allow for a more immersive and comprehensive experience of the football mecca.

Today, I went home feeling very happy. ^^
