The drive from Chiang Mai to Mae Hong Son is a challenging one, with hundreds of curves along the way. However, it is a journey that is well worth taking, as the destination is truly breathtaking. Upon arriving at Pang Ung, you will be awestruck by the stunning scenery.

Our group set out to capture the morning light, having researched that the beautiful mist appears in the early hours. We arrived around 5:00 AM, allowing time before sunrise. This early arrival allowed us to capture the Milky Way, which took over five minutes to set up and photograph. We managed to capture a single stunning image of the constellations before the sun rose. This was a truly memorable experience.

As time passed, the once-dark sky transformed, filling the land and water with vibrant colors and radiant light.

Many people began to emerge from their tents to admire the beauty of nature's vibrant colors, the panoramic mountain views, and the picturesque pine forests.

🍀 Mist over the lake

Initially, upon hearing the name "Pang Ung," we were reminded of "Ung Ung," the seal.

(Many people think like us, haha) But "Pang" refers to the houses or shelters of people living in the forest. "Ung" does not refer to the sound of a walrus, but rather to a low-lying area with stagnant water. Therefore, together they refer to a romantic shelter in the forest beside a reservoir.

Come here, it is recommended to capture the top romantic photos of Mae Hong Son Province. Capture the mist floating above the lake and record the memories of the cold morning atmosphere.

The sight of sunlight filtering through the trees, especially at sunrise, is truly breathtaking.

Take a raft and enjoy the view, where everything is reflected on the water's surface, as beautiful as a mirror, coupled with the thin mist, making it an unforgettable memory. Even when the mist fades away.

Did you know that this beautiful place is also a royal initiative of King Rama IX?

His Majesty saw that this location, being so close to the Burmese border, was vulnerable to various armed groups involved in the cultivation and trafficking of illicit crops, as well as illegal logging and deforestation. Therefore, he deemed it necessary to develop the livelihoods of the local population by promoting sustainable occupations, planting trees, and building water reservoirs. These efforts aimed to enhance border security and improve the well-being of the people.

Come here... Don't forget to look for the royal swans that come to swim and show themselves. (Black swans and white swans, 1 pair each) But when we went, we only saw white swans.

Everyone was amazed by the beautiful swan couple.

Don't forget to take some hip photos on the wooden bridge before heading home! :D
