Hello everyone,

On Saturday, December 24, 2016, I had the opportunity to visit Khemmarat, a charming district in Ubon Ratchathani province, located on the banks of the Mekong River, about 100 kilometers from the city center.

This trip came about when a friend from Khemmarat invited me to visit their hometown. Being easily persuaded when it comes to travel, I readily agreed.

We took a van from Ubon Ratchathani Bus Terminal to Khemmarat, which took about 2.5 hours (a bit far, I must admit!).

I'd like to share my impressions and recommend some places to visit in Khemmarat district.

Upon arriving in Khemmarat, I couldn't resist taking a few photos by the Mekong River. The pictures speak for themselves - the weather was simply delightful. 😉

After taking photos, we continued to our next destination, "Wat Bung Khi Lek", located approximately 10 kilometers from Khemmarat town. This temple houses a multitude of beautiful Buddha statues in the Maravijaya posture.

Next, we head to "High Sand Beach," approximately 10 kilometers from Wat Bung Kha Lek. This expansive sandy beach stretches along the banks of the Mekong River.

We visited during the off-season, so it was relatively quiet. There were fewer food vendors, but it had a different kind of atmosphere.

The sand here is very fine-grained, beautiful, and also very hot. Fortunately, there is a constant breeze.

We continued our journey to "Wat Phra Chao Yai Ong Tue (Wat Pak Saeng)" to pay respects and seek blessings. Locals believe this temple to be highly sacred, and it is constantly visited by devotees seeking blessings.

At the front, there are flowers, incense, and candles for worship. Sarongs are also available for free for those who are wearing short clothing.

The temple is surrounded by lush greenery, offering scenic views of neighboring countries. A ferry service is available for crossing the river, and there are designated areas for relaxation and food stalls.

Our friends told us that there was a free food kitchen for those who came to worship. Since it was almost noon, we decided to have a quick bite there.

Today's menu is Khanom Jeen with Coconut Curry, which is delicious.

After leaving the temple, we grabbed a bite to eat to hold us over (could you define "hold us over"? haha). We stopped at "Sam Yot Coffee," which also has a resort. The atmosphere is great, and it's about 10 kilometers from downtown Khemmarat.

We each ordered a cup of coffee, along with two snacks: a waffle and shaved ice. The food was delicious and affordable.

It's finally time for a real meal! 55555 My friends took me to eat at "Baan Kong Pha Neng Restaurant", which is right by the Mekong River. The atmosphere is amazing!

If you prefer not to sit outside, there is also indoor seating available. However, most people seem to prefer sitting outside, as you can see from the photos.

The food has arrived! We only ordered three dishes because the phrase "eating to hold us over" made us full, so we couldn't eat much rice. 5555 The food is delicious, so even though we're full, we still ate everything. Hehe.

In the evening, we went for a walk at the walking street. The walking street in Khemarat is held every Saturday evening. If you come on other days, you won't find it. 55555

I came across them just as they were forming a dance procession. It looked like so much fun! I felt like joining in myself. 555555

There is also a video to watch.

After watching the parade, we continued to take photos. There were many beautiful photo spots available.

The walking street here is lined with shops selling a variety of goods, including food, everyday items, and local products.

My friend really likes to eat this: fried insects. 55555

The day we went coincided with the opening of the Khemmarat tourism season, "Love (Khemmarat) Khemmaratthani Season". There will be a stage show and a Khantoke where we can put the food we bought and sit and eat while watching the show.

This is a beautiful Thai dance performance by the dance faculty of Khemmarat Pittayakom School.

In addition, there were dance performances and Thai silk fashion shows by students from Rangsit University, which were stunning and impressive.

A one-day trip to Khemmarat was a lot of fun. I would like everyone to come and experience it.

The "Love (Respect) Khemrat Thani Season" tourism season opening event in Khemmarat District is not held year-round.

There will be events held periodically. We will inform you if there are any upcoming events in Khemmarat.

Thank you to everyone who watched.
