After some research, I found out that it's called "Coron Island" in the Palawan archipelago. Wow, where is it, what is it, how is it?

So this is the origin of my solo trip. At first, I tried to invite my friends.

But most of them have plans for the long Songkran holiday.

Now that we have our destination, let's gather some information.

Where is this island located? How do we get there? Let's get to know her, I mean, this island. Hehe.

"Coron" is a 1st class municipality in the province of Palawan, Philippines.

Wow... it's worth it, right? Hehe. The most famous cities are:

1. Puerto Princesa City, which has an underground river that was declared a natural world heritage site in 1999.
But we're not going there 55+ because I read some reviews that said it's like the underground river in our country, so let's go to the sea, shall we? 55+

2. El Nido City, which I must say is another city that is wow... 55+ In fact, on this trip, I visited 2 cities,
which are Coron and El Nido. But... since it took 7 days, I'd rather review them in 2 parts, separate cities.
Otherwise, the review will be so long... it will take 3 years to finish (now that's an exaggeration 55+)

3. The city of Coron, which is said to be the best by Filipinos themselves.

So, we have to go there, hehe.

The island of Coron (the name is so cute 55+) is located in the southern part of Manila, as shown in the picture.

Coron Island is part of Busuanga Island.

However, the main town of "Coron" is located on Busuanga Island. Therefore, when booking flights,

the airport name will be Coron (Busuanga).

Now that you know Coron, let's see how to get there.

There are two ways to get to Coron Island (Busuanga): 1. By plane 2. By boat.

1. To reach Coron (Busuanga) by plane, we must first fly to Manila. From Manila, we can then take a direct flight to Coron (Busuanga) Airport.

2. Fly to Puerto Princesa City on Palawan Island first, then take a car to El Nido City, and then take a boat from El Nido City again.

It depends on the preferences and time of each person, but I choose to fly directly from Manila.

I want to go to this city first because the highlight of this trip is Kayangan Lake on Coron Island.

Now that you know Coron Island, let's take a look at the exchange rate.

In the Philippines, the currency is the peso.

The rate on the day of travel is

0.79 baht = 1 php, which means 79 baht = 100 pesos.

So, for simplicity, let's say 80 baht is equal to 100 pesos when you go shopping.

Then take the price and multiply it by 8 and divide by 10 to get Thai baht.

For example, a 60 php beer is = 60x8 = 480 and then divide by 10 = 480/10 = 48 baht.

A 150 php rice dish is 150x8 = 1,200 divided by 10 = 120 baht.

As for the peso, there are coins of 1 peso, 5 pesos, 10 pesos, and banknotes.

There are also 20, 50, 100, 500, 1000, similar to ours.

Now that you know all the details, it's time to travel.
To get to Coron City, we have to connect in Manila. There are many airlines to choose from.

But the one that caught my heart and is easy on the wallet is Cebu Pacific. Hehe.

Here are the details of the flight plan for this trip.

Let's skip the domestic flight procedures, as you are probably familiar with them at Suvarnabhumi Airport. Check-in, immigration forms, passport control, and then wait at the gate. With the ticket in hand, we are ready to go! Let's go! Hooray!

The atmosphere on Cebu Pacific's aircraft is very cramped, similar to that of a domestic airline.

I'm definitely going to die. I'm so sleepy and my legs are stuck. How am I going to sleep? In the end, when I walked to the bathroom, I saw that the last row of seats was empty.

There was a foreigner sleeping there, but there was another row left. Without hesitation, I slept there. I covered my face with a cloth and went to sleep. 55+

It didn't take long to arrive at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3.

Upon arrival, follow the signs, similar to our home country.

Remember, they will distribute an arrival card on the plane, so fill it out completely.

As you walk, you will encounter the immigration checkpoint. Join the queue and answer any questions they may have.

I was only asked how long I would be staying in the Philippines. That was all, and I was good to go. Easy peasy!

Next, continue walking to find your way to Terminal 4. The airport here is divided into four terminals.

I'm not sure how they designed it, but from my experience:

Terminal 3 is for arrivals, both domestic and international.

(Arrivals from Thailand and domestic flights land here.)

Terminal 4 is for domestic flights (if you're flying domestically, you must come here).

Terminal 1 is for international departures (when returning to Thailand, you must depart from here).

So, to get to each terminal,

we must take the free shuttle bus.

Keep walking until you see a sign that says "Terminal Transfer."

Follow the path, but when you turn left, you'll see stairs. Don't go up, because I did, and it was the wrong way! 55+

It's on the lower floor. Just walk straight ahead, no need to go upstairs. Keep walking, and you'll be like, "Is this it?"

We kept walking until we found the Cebu Pacific and Philippines Airline counters.

If you're using these two airlines, show them your ticket. If not, ask them how to get to this terminal. They'll let you walk inside.

You'll have to go through a security check before entering. There are two sides, so ask them which side is for Terminal 4. I went to the left.

Wait for a while, and a bus will pick you up, as shown in the picture.

The bus will take us to Terminal 4, which looks like this building.

They will drop us off here, then we walk inside. This is the back of the building.

We need to walk through to the front to have our bags checked before we can check in.

Then we can go and wait at the gate.

Once we are inside, we can wait and watch the TV screen to see what time our flight is and which gate it is at. It's not difficult.

While waiting, I noticed a counter selling Sim Internet for 7 days.

Plus, I'm not good at the language, so at least with Internet, I can still open maps or use google translate.

There are 2 camps to choose from, but I chose Smart Tourist Sim.

I think it's a tourist type, going to the islands should have a signal.

The Sim is free, but we have to pay for the package anyway, 300 php is about 240 baht, which is okay.

As for how many MB per day, I didn't really understand what the seller said at that time. I just said yes and went with it 55+

The local accent is very difficult to understand. They pronounce the letter "T" as "D". It's confusing!

On the first day, I couldn't understand what they were saying. Sigh...

I got internet access. While waiting for my flight, I continued my journey. After a while, the gate opened and we walked outside.

When you arrive, follow the crowd outside. You will see a lot of vans.

When I booked my accommodation, I requested a pick-up service at the airport.

The hotel emailed me back saying that someone would be waiting for me at the airport with a sign with my name on it.

But... where are you?

I couldn't find them anywhere. I guess I'm the new kid on the block. What should I do?

So I tried asking someone who was standing nearby.

I showed them the booking confirmation that I had printed out and said, "I want to go to this hotel."

They pointed to someone else. I guess this person will take me there. I went up to them and asked, "Do you go to Coron Paradise Hotel?"

They nodded their head. Okay, I'm definitely going there. There's no turning back now. I got into the van, which was very small.

And it was packed full. I had to put my bags on the roof.

But it was good. It was warm. At this point, I knew that there were only foreigners and Filipinos. No Thais for sure.

Who would be crazy enough to come here with me?

It's okay. When you're thinking big, you have to be calm. Just sit still and smile.

Don't talk to anyone yet. You're not good at the language yet. Keep it to yourself.

After about 10 minutes, we arrived at the accommodation. Yay! I'm saved!

I think the accommodation I booked is okay. The only thing is that it's a bit far from the city center.

But it's within walking distance. It's not too far.

It's a single room for 746 baht per night. The room is small, but the bathroom is okay.

The bed is okay. There's a TV, air conditioning, and breakfast. It's okay.

If you're interested, you can book it from Agoda. There are actually a lot of hotels. You can also walk in.

But it's my first time abroad, so I'm playing it safe on the first day.

The atmosphere in the room is a bit small, but it's cozy.

The bathroom is also okay.

Plus, the view from the window is amazing.

Upon arrival, I decided to explore the town and walked to the harbor.

For my first meal in the Philippines, I ordered by pointing at pictures on the wall. This is what I ended up with!

I can't remember the name of the dish, but it tasted good. It came with lime and chili as side dishes.

The chili was okay, but the lime didn't really go with the dish. It was very sour.

After lunch, it was hot and sunny, so I decided to take a nap. I didn't sleep well on the plane last night.

I'll go to the viewpoint later this evening to watch the sunset.

On the way back, I checked the prices of tours. There are many different companies offering tours.

Upon returning to the hotel, I noticed the price and decided to book the tour through them.

It was an "Ultimate Tour" that covered all the scenic spots for 1,500 PHP, which is roughly 1,200 Baht.

I think it's even cheaper than tours in Thailand, which usually start at 2,000 Baht.

Perhaps it's because the islands here are not as far apart as those in Thailand.

Arriving at the hotel, feeling tired and hot in the afternoon, I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep right away. So, I decided to try some of the local beers.

Two beers down, feeling good! Time for a nap. 😴

Woke up around 3:00 PM (Philippine time, which is 1 hour ahead of Thailand). Back home, it's still around 2:00 PM.

Since I'm already awake, I'll head up to the viewing area to relax and enjoy the scenery.

First, I need to grab some water, snacks, and most importantly, beer! 🍻 Beautiful views deserve a cold one. 😉

Water here costs around 15-30 PHP (12-24 THB) depending on the size and shop. Not too expensive.

Beer at local convenience stores costs around 45 PHP (36 THB) per can, also quite affordable.

However, in restaurants and bars, the price goes up to 60 PHP (48 THB) per can.

When I went downstairs, the staff asked me what I wanted for breakfast. I looked at the menu and thought, "What the heck is this?" Haha!

After finishing breakfast at 8:30 a.m., it was time for our appointment. A van picked us up directly from the hotel.

The van took us to the pier, where we had to walk to the tour company's meeting point to sign in.

We then rented snorkeling equipment, such as snorkels and fins. The price for a snorkel alone was 140 php, which is 112 baht.

They thought I was Filipino because there aren't many Thai people in the city. They were also surprised when I said I was traveling alone. I finally understood why people think it's cool when they see foreigners traveling alone. I tried to chat with the Filipino man sitting next to me (his daughter is beautiful!).
