Courtyard by Marriott Shin-Osaka Station

The Courtyard by Marriott Shin-Osaka Station is a 4-star hotel with 19 floors. The best views are from floors 14-18 (prices are slightly higher than rooms without a view). On the 19th floor, there is an Ikka Ichiyo Teppanyaki restaurant with beautiful views of Osaka.

In addition to the cleanliness and comfort of the beds, the location is another highlight. It is only a 1-minute walk from JR Shin Osaka Station, making it incredibly convenient for frequent JR travelers. Shin Osaka Station is a major transportation hub, offering easy access to various destinations. However, for those seeking the vibrant nightlife or shopping of Dotonbori, be aware that it is not as close, requiring approximately 20 minutes by train. As with any location, there are trade-offs to consider. Evaluate whether this location aligns with your travel plans and preferences.

The left side of the image shows the hotel building, while the right side shows the Shin-Osaka train station building.

The hotel lobby is staffed 24 hours a day and offers free luggage storage. Check-in is from 3pm onwards and check-out is by noon.

The hotel has a total of 19 floors. We stayed on the 5th floor. The corridor from the elevator to the room was well-lit and did not feel scary when returning late at night...

Courtyard Room

We opted for the Courtyard Room, the hotel's entry-level accommodation, which measures approximately 30 square meters. Guests can request either a king-size bed or two twin beds. The room is more spacious than typical Japanese hotel rooms, and the bed and pillows are comfortable, allowing for a restful night's sleep after a long day of sightseeing. Air conditioning and heating are also available.

Let's take a look at another angle of the room. Apologies for the clutter. Inside the room, there is a wall-mounted TV (which we didn't turn on, so we don't know what channels are available). There is a work desk area with a notebook, pens, and a lamp. There is also a sofa and another table placed by the window for enjoying a cup of coffee or a light snack. The wardrobe includes an iron, ironing board, and a safe for your convenience.

The hotel provides two complimentary bottles of drinking water daily, along with tea and coffee sachets. A hot water dispenser is also available for your convenience.

The mini-bar offers a limited selection of beverages, including beer, soft drinks, mineral water, and green tea. Prices are slightly higher than those at 7-Eleven. Guests may choose to purchase these items for convenience, especially during late hours when venturing outside may be undesirable.

The bathroom features a minimalist aesthetic with white walls and a light brown wooden door. It boasts an automatic toilet and provides each guest with a tissue, towel, and hand towel.

Bathroom amenities are exceptionally comprehensive, offering everything one might need, truly befitting a Japanese hotel.

The bathroom area is a highlight, offering both a bathtub and a shower. What could be better than returning from a tiring day of sightseeing and enjoying a relaxing soak in the comfort of your own room?

Breakfast is served at the Lava Rock Restaurant, located on the same floor as the lobby near the hotel entrance/exit. If you book a room without breakfast or stay elsewhere but want to have the breakfast buffet here, it will cost 2,600 yen per person. Children get a 50% discount. I didn't try it myself because my daily travel plans required me to leave early in the morning, so I mostly ate at the restaurants near the train station and 7/11.

If you are interested in staying at the Courtyard by Marriott Shin-Osaka Station, you can book directly on the hotel's website.
