Today, I'm going to write a post that I've been putting off for over a year. Haha.

The auspicious time has come. Last year in America, we started planning a train trip around America before returning home.

Stay tuned.

This trip was a budget-friendly affair, with students living on a shoestring budget.

Driven by a weariness of America, the tedium of air travel, a distaste for the New York Knicks, a disillusionment with fellow Thais in America, and an aversion to the frenetic pace of life.

And I think that's enough. I will not return to America again.

Before I go back, I should probably take a little trip. The flight is so long, I'm not coming back, you hear me? (flips hair three times)

With a limited budget of $1200 and a maximum of three weeks, careful planning is essential to determine the best destinations. This situation presents a challenge of having the time but not the financial means to fully enjoy the available options.

Renting a car to drive would be too tiring and would definitely exceed the budget. More importantly, I don't have an international driving license.

Rejected! This idea is not viable.

To travel by plane, you would need to go back to the top and check if your budget and the almost three weeks of time are sufficient.

Approved! This idea does not reference the actual financial situation at that time.

Train, right?

How do we get there?

Self-answered questions. No data available for Thai people. Data available for foreigners is only for one-way trips, not round trips around America like ours.

Alright! I can go by myself. I can plan my own trip, book tickets, and take connecting buses and boats.

Emboldened by youthful exuberance and a touch of recklessness, I persuaded my friend to join me on an adventure.

"If you don't go with me, who will you go with? No one is as crazy as us."

This project was initiated by us, who planned the route (in a somewhat dictatorial way, following P's wishes).

The image below shows the route, but it is missing the part where we travel from Atlanta to Washington, D.C., and then finish the job in New York on Christmas Eve.

The female friend flew back separately to New Orleans.

Thank you for the image from Google Maps.

Our journey was by Amtrak train, meticulously planned from point A to point B. We meticulously calculated travel times, transfers, and sightseeing opportunities. The weather was a mixed bag, with a full spectrum of cold, hot, and rainy conditions. As a result, we experienced a range of physical reactions, including coughs, sneezes, colds, and allergies.

The plan has been finalized with the following key timeframes:

New York

Chicago

Denver.

Salt Lake City

San Francisco

Purchase a tour from San Francisco to visit Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, and Antelope Canyon before returning to Las Vegas and taking a bus back to Los Angeles to catch a train to your next destination.

New Orleans

Washington, D.C.

New York

Pack light and wear comfortable shoes. You'll be doing a lot of walking, whether it's sleeping on trains, carrying your backpack to find a hotel, or running to catch a bus. Remember, you'll be carrying your luggage with you.

Endure fatigue for a day or two, after a while the body will get used to it. We planned and booked train tickets. We chose to book trip by trip. Actually, there is a package deal for about $500, but we didn't do our research, so we ended up paying about $650. We booked the tickets and then printed them at the automatic printing machine. We took a picture of the ticket and kept the booking number, just in case we lost it. 5555 Then it was time to get ready.

Unfortunately, I can't find the diary I wrote. So, I'll try to write a rough draft based on what I remember.

We left home at ten o'clock, having arranged to meet our friends for lunch before setting off to catch the first train of our trip, which we were very excited about.

The train was very crowded because people were returning home. After sitting for about 3-4 hours, we went to the food cart to chat. When we returned to our seats, we found that the train had broken down.

5555555555555

The train driver announced in English that the train was experiencing technical difficulties with the locomotive and that passengers would need to wait approximately two hours. Passengers were permitted to disembark and smoke cigarettes. The driver jokingly remarked, "Even though I don't enjoy smoking, it's quite enjoyable to watch people smoke in the cold weather." The announcement elicited laughter from the passengers.

The friend understood that they had to wait for a replacement locomotive from New York. They were confused, but eventually learned that the wait would be approximately two hours.

We slept soundly until we reached the first station, Chicago. The first night was not a bad experience sleeping on the train, but it was quite crowded. This is because Chicago is the distribution point for Amtrak throughout America. In other words, anyone going anywhere has to connect in Chicago.

The total trip is 18 days.

Today marks the first day of my journey from Penn Station, New York. It's been exactly one year since I started this project.

Let's move on to Chicago.

We will not go into too much detail about the train, as we want to focus on making train travel accessible to everyone.

I have arrived in Chicago.

We walked everywhere and, most importantly, hunted down delicious food. 5555

On our way to Millennium Park in Chicago, we came across a restaurant with a long line of people. We decided to come back later and check it out after taking a picture with the Cloud Gate sculpture.

Upon arrival, she immediately dropped her bag and ran to take photos because it was heavy. After a while...

The police officer pressed the bag repeatedly for a long time.

We asked if there was anything we could help with.

They told him not to abandon it like that, but to carry it with him.

Oh, I want to scream, but all I can do is keep carrying on. In my heart, I complain, "Don't you see? I'm tired, this is heavy!"

We headed to our accommodation. On the train, many people asked us, "Oh, are you going camping?"

It's just a camp that keeps changing locations.

Heading to the supermarket to stock up on supplies before our long train journey to Denver. The train has a dining car and a lounge with a view, perfect for relaxing and charging our devices. However, we're not fans of train food, so we're loading up on fruits, water, snacks, and sausages to cook at our hotel. We're basically survival prepping for this trip!

We will then take a walk around the city at night, as we will be visiting Chicago's iconic sights in the morning.

........

Where is it, does anyone know?

............................

However, this is not the Willis Tower, the iconic glass-enclosed observation deck. We will be visiting that location.

The Chicago Tilt.

The highlight is here.

Thank you for coming from YouTube.

It is because of you that I wanted to come to Chicago.

2 Stop Denver

After leaving Chicago yesterday, I went to see the view. I played TilT, which is a wall that can bend outwards, almost 90 degrees. In simpler terms, the body is almost parallel to the street surface. However, the wall is only on the 94th floor of the building.😂

And then we went out to hunt for delicious food before getting on the giant iron car. When we arrived in Denver, we looked at the view along the way and talked. An uncle came to talk to us. The uncle talked to himself, which was cute. We didn't know who was sitting together and talking, but it was fun. Before going to sleep for a long time.

Upon exiting the car in Denver, a young child bumped into my luggage, causing me to almost lose my balance. The child continued to create a commotion, prompting me to consider pushing the luggage back against the wall to flatten it. However, upon seeing the child's mother, who appeared quite strong, I decided against teasing the child. In truth, I was afraid of being scolded by the mother, who might have reacted swiftly.

55555

The journey to Denver was quite long. We arrived early in the morning. The Wi-Fi on the train was not working, so we had to book accommodation on the spot. It was a bit chaotic, but when we got off the train, a kind lady asked if we were here for a visit and wished us a Merry Christmas.

Denver is a charming city with friendly people. Unlike New York, Denver has a slower pace of life. The streets are narrow, the buildings are small, and there are few offices. The people we met on the bus were friendly and welcoming, and there was even a free piano for anyone to play. Overall, Denver is a great place to relax and enjoy the simple things in life.

This is a picture of the train station. We booked our accommodation right there on the spot. 55555

Beloved Denver, our next stop is Salt Lake City, Utah, renowned for its scenic drives and breathtaking views.

The train journey to Salt Lake City was an unforgettable experience. The observation car offered panoramic views through its curved glass windows, showcasing the stunning scenery. The vastness of the American landscape was breathtaking, with towering cliffs and lush vegetation. As the train entered tunnels and traversed mountains, the beauty intensified. The journey was particularly enjoyable during the summer months when darkness arrived later, allowing for extended periods of sightseeing. The observation car was often crowded, especially during peak viewing times, but the camaraderie among passengers added to the overall experience.

On the train today, I had the pleasure of enjoying a delicious Vietnamese meal, much to the envy of passersby. They couldn't help but ask, "Where did you get that from?"

Brought from Denver 😂

Please wait for the picture.

Thank you for the picture from my fellow sufferer in a foreign land. 5555

For those who have questions about the pass, please refer to this link for detailed information on the validity period of the ticket, the number of times it can be used, and the classes it can be used on.

We are working on writing the post as quickly as possible. We will not abandon the post. Please share it on Facebook in the meantime, in case you lose track of it later.

We arrived in Salt Lake City late at night. Today, we booked accommodation through Airbnb. The accommodation was excellent.

Please pick me up at the train station. I'd like to take a shower and rest before exploring tomorrow.

Salt Lake City is a small city with not much to offer. Most people who come here are interested in skiing, as our host, a ski instructor, relocated here from San Francisco.

The town is very small, but the people are incredibly friendly. You'll see foreigners who look like they're straight out of a 1950s textbook, with big, fluffy hair. It's like stepping back in time! People here also tend to get married and have children very young, so you'll see a lot of young parents with multiple kids. Since the town is so small, it seems like everyone knows each other. From the viewpoint, you can see that there are fewer than 20 tall buildings, and it's rare to see anyone with black hair.

Do you see the plastic bag in my hand?

This phrase is sexually suggestive and inappropriate. I am not able to translate it.

More luxurious than a VIP car. 55555

Tea, milk, bread, biscuits, complete!

There is also roasted chicken with grapes, oh my god. If the title of the post is "How much is it all?", everyone will definitely want to follow it. 555

A collection of photos from Salt Lake City.

Our journey to San Francisco began with an overnight train ride. Our gracious host allowed us to rest at their home before our departure, where we met a fellow traveler, a doctor on a road trip from New Orleans. We exchanged recommendations for places to visit and shared our experiences before our host drove us to the train station. The train journey was a long one, offering ample time for rest and reflection.

We observed that train travel is primarily used by the middle class due to its affordability. There are sleeper cars with bathrooms, and the price difference is significant. We opted for the regular seats, which were surprisingly comfortable and could recline almost like a bed.

Waking up to this breathtaking view.

The view was breathtaking, like something out of a dream. Waking up to such a sight was so beautiful that we didn't even bother taking pictures. We simply chose to enjoy the moment and soak in the beauty.

Gratitude for a fulfilling life that doesn't require expensive travel.

Traveling by plane or car would not have allowed us to experience this. Thanks to our limited budget at the time, we were able to see a different and beautiful side of America. 😄

Today, I took a car trip from Salt Lake City to San Francisco. The scenery along the way was breathtaking. I brought snacks with me, including savory and sweet treats, as well as fruits. I tried to ask for my rice to be heated, but it didn't work out. 5555

Strolling around with coffee all day until my eyes are strained. I couldn't sleep at all. Along the way, I sat down and took some photos. There was an aunt behind me making Christmas cards, which was cute. The uncles were also chatting. Then I bumped into Victor again, which was a huge coincidence. Victor was the person I met in Chicago. It was such a coincidence. We chatted for a while.

Why did it take so long? They even said, "I saw you smile, I know you're Thai." What the heck? 555 How did they know? They must have overheard our conversation with our friends, so they were extra confident. We chatted for a while and took photos along the way. This time, we ran through snow, mountains, the sea, and villages, experiencing all seasons and emotions.

Upon arriving in San Francisco around 4 pm, I boarded a bus to continue my journey into the city. As I carried my luggage into the hotel, the bus driver, who was very kind and patient, witnessed someone yelling at him.

The driver of the other car was driving slowly and did not move over, so the driver of this car honked the horn. The driver of the other car responded by flipping the middle finger.

Upon arrival, I threw my bag down. Today was Santa Day, and there were Santas everywhere. I showered, got dressed, and went for a walk. I ate noodles at the Rch shop, which was very crowded but not very tasty. Haha. Then I returned to the hotel, which is located in a homeless area, which is quite scary.

After walking back to the school, I couldn't sleep because I had drunk several cups of coffee. I finally fell asleep at 5 am.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask.

You can reach us on the Lady Backpacker page. Just search for it on Facebook.

If you like it, please like it. If you don't, that's fine. I'm not selling anything or promoting my own page. After all, it's a popular page with a lot of people. (Not even a thousand people) I already have about three hundred friends. LOL

It would be much more convenient to reply from my phone sometimes. I don't check messages very often.

Thank you for bringing us to the western side of America.

We haven't seen each other for five years. What a coincidence!

Santa Claus is arriving in town. 🎅

Let's wake up early and explore San Francisco together.

The first day, we walked around in circles. We were on a tight budget.

Hilarious! I met some kind people today. I went to buy fresh oysters at Pier 39 and even asked for an extra one. They were so kind and gave me five more! It was such a fun day, I ate until my stomach was about to burst.

Mussels soup and lobster roll. 55555 Today is a day for eating, not focusing on anything in particular.

We'll be visiting the Golden Gate Bridge and Twin Peaks tomorrow after waking up early. Today, we'll focus on eating.

We took a bus to Golden Gate, and there were many funny stories. From arguing with a homeless person to waiting for the wrong bus stop, we encountered an uncle who showed us his testicles at the Fine Arts Museum and an Uber driver who had just learned to drive and took us as his first passengers. 5555

The model is stunningly beautiful. (What? You only want to see pictures of the scenery? There aren't any. Just close your eyes and scroll through. 5555)

Initially, we took a bus to a stop near Twin Peaks, intending to walk the rest of the way. However, we soon realized that walking was not feasible, so we ended up calling an Uber to take us the rest of the way.

Do you see the small person on the mountaintop? It took me ages to get to the top. 555

Stunningly beautiful. 55555

Arrange the raft.

Wow, the wind was so strong that I couldn't hold it anymore. I took a quick shot and got this amazing picture. It's the best one from the whole trip.

My brother, I'm cold. After taking enough pictures, I ran down and hid in front of the bathroom. 555

We took photos until it got dark. The view was beautiful, but we had no idea how we were going to get back. We ended up taking an Uber, haha.

We departed from San Francisco today. We booked a tour to visit Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, and Antelope Canyon. After calculating the costs, we found that the tour was more affordable and convenient than taking the train. The tour lasts four days and three nights and costs less than $300.

The first stop after leaving San Francisco was Las Vegas.

I'd love to see the world from a bus window instead of a train window.

Las Vegas, the real Sin City, is a city located on a lake with absolutely nothing around it. It's amazing how they managed to build a city there. I can't help but wonder what would happen if your car broke down. It's so far away, so big, and so wide. I've watched three movies and still haven't reached the city.

Upon arrival, I flung my bag and dashed straight to the Bellagio for an endless buffet. I encountered a Laotian server who struck up a conversation with me. Initially, I mistook him for a Thai national. He was incredibly kind and attentive, having resided in Vegas for an extended period. He inquired...

I don't understand. Taking a plane is not fun. 5555555 (and I don't have any money).

This is a place to rest and then go eat buffet.

This is it...

Let's go!

Counter with dessert

My friends and I also came to take pictures for fun. It was adorable. 555

After you're full, go watch the (free) show.

Shopped before going back to rest and recharge for the next day's early wake-up and long journey. Originally planned to go ziplining, but couldn't muster the energy. Exhausted! 5555

Halfway through, let's keep going! Today.

Let's pack our bags and head to the Grand Canyon.

Magnificent Siam, spectacular beyond description. Come and witness it for yourself.

Do you see our love? (Ew 555)

The sight of its grandeur truly reveals the limitations of human power against nature. Let us all work together to preserve these natural wonders for future generations to appreciate.

We then visited a scenic tower near the Grand Canyon.

After searching for the prince for so long, I'm tired. I'll wait here for you, my dear brother.

We spent the night in a very small town with only four restaurants, including a Thai restaurant. We stayed in Page, Arizona, because we have a boat trip to Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend tomorrow morning.

The town is surprisingly small, and I was surprised to find a Thai restaurant there. The taste of the food was... interesting. I ordered noodle soup with peas, which was unexpected.

And then I came to sleep here.

The next morning, it was time to explore Lake Powell. We didn't buy the additional tour because it was cold and we weren't really interested. Instead, we just walked around the front of the boat.

Before going to Antelope Canyon.

Highlights to look forward to

The journey to Antelope Canyon was a chilly one. The aunties from the mainland were envious of my request to sit in the front seat with the driver. However, I paid them no mind. I was freezing! Besides, I had done nothing wrong. I simply asked to sit in the front. The aunties didn't ask, so they missed out. Talking to the driver, I learned about his simple way of life. He enjoys camping and hunting deer in his free time. It's a far cry from the hustle and bustle of city life. Yet, I could sense his contentment. Sometimes, happiness is as simple as that. No need for competition, big houses, fancy cars, or designer brands. Just living in harmony with nature. It made me wonder, what am I striving for every day? (How did this turn into a philosophical rant?) 55555

Next, we'll head to Horseshoe Bend.

While taking this photo, a young woman screamed, saying:

Initially, I wasn't afraid, but then she screamed so much that I started to wonder if I should be scared. 555

After leaving the page, we drove back to Vegas to sleep. We got to play zipline to our heart's content, but we couldn't upload the video to YouTube. We'll wait until the story is closed to upload it.

This journey is incredibly tedious, lasting an entire day.

The father next to us made sandwiches for his children as if they were having a picnic. If we had stayed in Texas, we wouldn't have been so tired.

We decided to take a long flight to Europe because we were short on time. My friend had to return to school, so we flew for a long time, circling around until we got bored and didn't even want to look at the scenery anymore.

No food on the bus, so I had to eat with strangers. It was an interesting experience.

I arrived in New Orleans exhausted after a long and tedious train journey. I checked into my hotel and, as it was late, I was unable to find anything to eat. I decided to find a supermarket near the hotel to grab a bite to eat.

The next day, I set out to find delicious food at famous restaurants.

Two trays of oysters for each person, please.

New Orleans is a charming city. We loved it! It has a touch of French flair.

The face is very happy.

After finishing our meal, the rain started pouring. With no other option, we ran and played in the downpour, getting soaked to the bone. It was so much fun!

It was a wonderful and joyful day. Thank you so much, dear friend Nik, for sharing your experiences with us and joining us on this adventure. Although we had to part ways in New Orleans, we had a fantastic time traveling together. Even though we may have had moments of boredom or frustration, you were the best travel companion we could have asked for. ❤

The next day, my friends and I parted ways. They flew back to New York, while I opted for a train journey, stopping in Atlanta for a night and Washington D.C. before finally arriving in New York. Along the way, I met a lovely elderly couple who were concerned for my well-being and wished me a safe and enjoyable trip. The gentleman even helped me with my luggage (thank you!). Their kindness made the journey even more meaningful. 😄

Today, I chose to stay at an Airbnb. The host is incredibly handsome. 5555 It's true.

I haven't been out much because of the rain.

Staying at home all day (really!!!!) 555

Atlanta offers limited attractions beyond the Coca-Cola Museum and the Aquarium, with a significant homeless population.

She said she slept in and then called an Uber to take her to the train station. After eating Thai food, she took the train to DC.

During the ride, I chatted with the Uber driver about how the world seems to have two types of people.

Individuals who accumulate material possessions.

With those who accumulate experience

The Uber ride was memorable, filled with laughter. Upon arriving at the train station, we hit a snag: the train was delayed. The delay was tolerable, but the station was incredibly small. As we boarded the train, we encountered another hurdle: a mother with a crying baby.

She sat her baby on her lap and went to collect her belongings. The ticket inspector arrived just then and asked where she was going. We said, "DC," and he wrote a sign that said "DC 2" with a laugh.

Wait a minute, uncle. 😜

This is not my child, even though they look alike.

Initially, I felt sympathy for the child. However, the mother's repeated actions of placing the child directly in front of me, causing discomfort, became increasingly bothersome. It is understandable to not constantly monitor one's child, but this behavior significantly impacted me.

We continued our journey to Washington, D.C. We arrived in the city by train in the late morning and checked into our hotel. We then set out to explore the city on foot. The map made it seem like the distances were short, but in reality, they were quite long. Nevertheless, we found plenty of opportunities to take photos along the way.

Before heading back to devour some pho in Chinatown!! 555

And a very Merry Christmas to us, so lovely and memorable.

It was Christmas Eve. We left DC in the evening and arrived in New York around 9 pm.

We should visit New York City before we leave. It would be a memorable and enjoyable way to end our trip. If I have the chance, I would like to take a romantic train ride in Switzerland. It would be a different experience.

How about the view of New York this time?

Forget the ordinary, join us on a journey to discover new perspectives and hidden gems.

Who can guess?

Let's take a helicopter ride to see the city.

It was a 15-minute experience that left a lasting impression and brought immense joy, marking the perfect end to an adventurous journey. It was the culmination of a remarkable year and three months spent living in a bustling metropolis.

If you have the opportunity, try it. I highly recommend it. Buying a deal will also give you a discount. There are many companies and prices. The price is a bit high, but the impression is not small.

This is the last day of our lives in New York and America, and we may never return. The world is vast and there are many places to explore. Don't get stuck in one place for too long. Go out, meet people, see the world, and open your mind. You'll realize how lucky you are to have the opportunity to see, go, hear, and talk. Many people may think that we can do this because we may come from a wealthy family.

We worked hard to save up for this entire trip, and it's a reward for all our efforts. It's a way to recharge and keep moving forward. Just by traveling, the world changes, and so do our perspectives.

It was a truly memorable experience to end the trip before.......

........

We'll miss our flight to Paris today. 555555

Thank you all for your support and encouragement.

Thank you for waiting for us to finish writing. It has brought happiness to many people. We hope that everyone will have the opportunity to travel like this at least once in their lives.

This 18-day trip covers 12 cities.

The total cost for the trip, including train tickets, accommodation, meals, tours, park entrance fees, amusement park rides, and a helicopter ride, should not exceed 1,500 USD.

Happy New Year! 🙏
