"ดินสอขอเขียน" is a local resident of the "Bang Lamphu district" since childhood. Their house is located in the area, and they also attended school there. Their memories of the district include it being a hub for school uniform shops, where they would go with their mother every semester to buy new uniforms. Another notable aspect of the district is its abundance of delicious food. Today, they have the opportunity to learn more about Bang Lamphu at the "Bang Lamphu Museum".
Today's fun destination is located on Phra Sumen Road, near the entrance of Wat Sangwet School, next to Santi Chai Prakan Park. Fortunately for "ดินสอขอเขียน", it is currently open for free admission.
Guided tours are available at scheduled times. While waiting, visitors can explore the two exhibition rooms on the lower floor. The first room houses a rotating exhibition, currently showcasing "Her Majesty Queen Sirikit's 82nd Birthday Anniversary Exhibition." This exhibition highlights the Queen's immense contributions to the Thai people, demonstrating her profound impact, akin to that of King Rama IX.
The other room, titled "The Citadel of Rattanakosin," showcases the history of Rattanakosin. The highlight of this room is the "Impressed Pencil," which tells the story of the "Twin Gates." This exhibit reveals the significance of city gates in the past and their impact on the lives of people. The multimedia presentation makes it easy to understand, providing both knowledge and entertainment.
The lecturer is ready. The pencils are also ready (for a long time). Let's continue our tour to the 2nd floor. The first room we will visit is the "Treasury Department Exhibition", which showcases the roles and responsibilities of the Treasury Department from the past to the present. From being a source of currency for domestic circulation, producing commemorative coins, and managing valuable state assets.
The Transformation of Bang Lamphu: From Diverse Community to Modern Metropolis
This passage delves into the history of Bang Lamphu, highlighting its evolution from a vibrant, multicultural community to a modern urban center. Initially, Bang Lamphu served as a melting pot of ethnicities, fostering harmonious coexistence among its diverse residents. However, with the arrival of Western influences in Thailand, the traditional way of life in Bang Lamphu gradually transformed.
This section transports us to the past of Bang Lamphu, recreating the old atmosphere of cinemas, theaters, coffee shops, and antique stores. This allows us to appreciate the area's former commercial prosperity, as some shops, such as "Tang Ua Seng," still exist today. Additionally, Bang Lamphu offers hidden gems that many are unaware of, such as Khon costume embroidery, the Duriyapreenee Music School, the art of palm leaf carving, and the making of water chestnut pudding.
