Mr. Takayuki Kushida, President of Otsuka Nutraceuticals (Thailand) Co., Ltd.

I was recently invited to the launch event of "Pocari Sweat," a health drink by "Otsuka Pharmaceutical," a leading pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturer from Japan. This premium healthy drink is a product of Japanese standards.

Pocari Sweat Drink Launch

The "Pocari Sweat" beverage boasts a composition similar to bodily fluids, enabling rapid absorption and replenishment of water and electrolytes lost during daily activities. Its citrusy flavor is refreshing and not overly sweet, and it contains no preservatives or artificial colors. The brand offered samples at the event, and I found the taste to be quite pleasant compared to similar domestic beverages.

The launch event was held at the Okura Prestige Hotel Bangkok, with a large number of Thai and Japanese executives in attendance. Additionally, Punpun Sutatta Udomsilp showcased her dancing skills in the "24 dehydration" outfit and joined in experiencing the refreshing qualities of Pocari Sweat.

With the sales program concluded, let's move on to the main event. Aside from the aforementioned stylish showcase, another highlight of the event is the "banquet food." It seems we're not prioritizing food consumption this time around. ...

The opening party featured a cocktail-style reception, where guests could enjoy a variety of dishes prepared by the chefs of The Okura Hotel. The chefs even carved the food in front of the guests, providing a unique and interactive dining experience.

The food selection was quite diverse, but I will only discuss the dishes I had the opportunity to try. Regarding the catering format, it resembled a typical cocktail reception, with food stations and standing tables. However, a unique aspect was the serving of Pocari Sweat as a beverage option.

The first dish we ordered was the crab salad with caviar. To be honest, it was extremely salty. I couldn't tell if this was the intended flavor or if I simply wasn't accustomed to it. Caviar typically has a salty, buttery taste, but when combined with the brown gelatin sheet, the saltiness was overwhelming. I had to drink several sips of water to counteract the intense flavor.

Tuna with orange sauce is delicious and a great appetizer. The fresh tuna surprisingly pairs well with the orange sauce.

To be honest, this dish is a winner. The "braised beef with mashed potatoes" is truly exceptional. The braised beef boasts a rich, savory flavor with a hint of sweetness that melts in your mouth. The mashed potatoes are equally impressive, offering a delightful aroma and a creamy, buttery texture. This dish is a must-try, and I highly recommend it.

This dish falls slightly short of the top spot due to personal preference. The "grilled pork with rice risotto" features three-layered pork belly marinated and served with a rice risotto that boasts an exceptional texture. The combination delivers a harmonious flavor profile. However, the pork contains a significant amount of fat, which may not appeal to everyone. Nevertheless, those who enjoy fatty cuts will likely find this dish highly satisfying. As a result, this dish earns the second-place ranking.

"Grilled Shrimp with Sauce" is a standard dish with good flavor, though not exceptional. The presentation is visually appealing with vibrant colors, making it an enjoyable meal.

This cup contains a tuna salad, featuring fresh tuna and a flavorful dressing. It's delicious! In the upper right corner, you'll find cantaloupe with crispy ham, offering a delightful combination of sweet and savory flavors. The bottom right corner showcases an egg tart. Enjoying it in one bite allows you to experience the satisfying crunch of the pastry crust and the ground sunflower seeds sprinkled on top. The rich aroma and creamy texture of the egg tart are perfectly complemented by the slight tartness of the blueberries.

In addition to the aforementioned, there is also a rich and intensely chocolatey forest cake, perfect for pairing with a cup of coffee. The mixed fruit pie is another highlight, featuring a crispy crust, creamy filling, and fresh, large pieces of fruit such as strawberries, peaches, blueberries, and surprisingly, papaya. The combination of flavors is harmonious and truly delicious.

As mentioned, the food was actually quite plentiful and diverse, including fried spring rolls, roasted pork, etc. However, I only ate this much, so this is all I can review.

Thank you for watching.
