Many office workers find their lives to be hectic and tedious, sometimes wishing they could escape to Mars and live a quiet life free from demanding bosses and complaining customers. They long for a break from the constant availability expected of them, like a 7-Eleven convenience store open 24/7.

An off-the-grid escape, devoid of phone signals, unfolded before us. The absence of social media and the constant allure of screens was a welcome respite, allowing us to embrace a slow-paced life, free from distractions. Immersed in the breathtaking mountain vistas, the refreshing waters, and the gentle breeze, we found solace and rejuvenation.

Khao Sok National Park, also known as Cheow Lan Dam, is a popular destination for those seeking a digital detox. Its remote location and lack of mobile phone reception provide a welcome escape from the constant connectivity of modern life.

Khao Sok National Park: A Tale of Two Landscapes

Khao Sok National Park offers a diverse experience, divided into two distinct sections: the Cheow Lan Dam area and the National Park Headquarters.

Cheow Lan Dam: This area boasts breathtaking views of the reservoir from atop the dam. Visitors can then embark on a boat journey to witness the iconic Khao Sam Kler (Three Brothers Mountain), a trio of limestone karsts rising from the water, aptly nicknamed the "Guilin of Thailand." Further exploration reveals the wonders of Tham Prakarang Cave and Tham Nam Talu Cave.

National Park Headquarters: This section focuses on the park's natural wonders, including cascading waterfalls, lush hiking trails, and the unique phenomenon of "Bua Phut" (lotus flower emergence).

Despite being separated by approximately 60 kilometers, both sections offer a glimpse into the captivating beauty of Khao Sok National Park.

This trip was a while ago, but I wanted to share how amazing the atmosphere was. If you're looking for a slow-paced life, I highly recommend แพพันวารีย์. The accommodation is excellent, the views are stunning, and most importantly, the owners are incredibly kind. We booked a tour package through the resort, and they took care of everything.

One-day stay at Panwa Pier + one-day tour of Phuket Town + Koh Mai Thon. It is recommended to book a flight to Surat Thani for the outbound journey and a flight from Phuket for the return journey to avoid fatigue.

The tour package includes a private car and driver for the entire trip, ensuring a comfortable and convenient experience.

I'm not sure if this package is still available. You can visit their website at https://www.thegreenerypanvaree.com/english-menu to check.

Waking up at 4 am to catch a flight at Don Mueang Airport, notorious for its long queues and traffic jams, was a close call. Despite the early start, the 7 am flight was nearly missed. However, the sunrise offered a beautiful spectacle, complete with a small rainbow.

Before boarding the boat, consider stopping by the Ratchaprapha Dam viewpoint. The view is stunning, with the mountains in the background resembling a painting.

This breathtaking view is the epitome of Thailand's beauty.

Let's take a boat to our accommodation. This is the Panvaree floating raft, the water is emerald green.

Let's take a look at the room view. We loved this room, I can't remember the room number, but it was the one next to the last mountain. It was very private. In the morning, you can hear the birds singing. The view is amazing. We were impressed. If we go again, we will ask to stay in the same room.

The bedroom has a comfortable bed and an ensuite bathroom. The bathroom is located near the entrance door. We forgot to take a picture of it as we were too impressed by the view.

Immerse yourself in the breathtaking views, for during the day, there is no electricity, no phone signal, no television, and no mobile phone to distract you. Instead, indulge in the present moment and savor the natural beauty that surrounds you. It's as if you've returned to nature, completely disconnected from the outside world.

Wow, the photos are amazing! In reality, it's even 100 times more beautiful. I want to go back again.

Side view This side is the edge. There are no houses. Very private. Million dollar view.

The front of the room has chairs for relaxing and enjoying the breeze.

The crystal-clear water welcomes you with playful fish swimming around. However, be cautious as the water depth here reaches several meters. The guide informed us that the dam's water level is exceptionally deep. If you choose to swim, please exercise caution. We opted not to enter the water due to the strong winds, which made it challenging to control our kayaks, giving us the sensation of being swept away.

Taking a boat trip to see the Three Musketeers Hill, the guide shared the history of the dam along the way. It gave me goosebumps. I can't believe I didn't know this before. The most striking part was learning that this area was once a village with a diverse population of animals. One day, the villagers were forced to evacuate, leaving behind the wildlife. When the dam was closed, the water accumulated, flooding the entire area. The animals were trapped and perished in large numbers. Srib Na Nakasathien, a hero who dedicated his life to the forest and its creatures, attempted to rescue the animals. Some were saved, but many perished. Thousands of animals died as a result of the dam's construction. The story was so moving that I almost cried. In the evening, the resort organized a floating lantern ceremony to pay respects to the spirits and animals who sacrificed their lives for the dam's construction.

Beyond the breathtaking views, travel allows us to broaden our horizons and gain insights into the significant historical background of our country. Let us embrace the beauty with our eyes and absorb the knowledge with our hearts.

Throughout my travels in the south, I have consistently been impressed by the kindness and warmth of the local people. Their genuine hospitality, even towards strangers, has left a lasting impression on me. The friendliness and generosity of the southern people, from uncles and aunts to everyone I encountered, truly embodies the spirit of southern charm.

The kind teacher shared sweet mangoes with fish sauce with us. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the teachers.

I don't want to say this is the first time I've eaten raw mango, but it's so delicious! 5555555

The last light of the first day

At night, there was a procession at Pha Pan Waen to float kratongs to apologize to the sacred objects and animals that had sacrificed their lives. However, we did not take any pictures because it was very dark. We floated the kratongs in the middle of the dam, which was a little scary. 55555

The sky is very clear, and I can see a large moon. Even though I'm taking this picture from a distance, I can still see it clearly.

This morning, we went birdwatching for the elusive hornbill, but today wasn't our lucky day. We didn't spot a single one. However, the morning air was delightful, filled with the sounds of birds and gibbons calling from the forest.

The boat passed by the shrine of Father-in-law Jongdong. His story tells that he was the source of the Khlong Saeng canal. His first wife was named Mother-in-law Thongtueng. Later, he fell in love with Mother-in-law Kaew. He asked permission from his first wife and set sail on a junk boat to ask for her hand in marriage. On the way, the boat hit a rock and broke in two. The people on board fled for their lives. Father-in-law Jongdong climbed to the top of the mountain with his cat and dog.

Local folklore claims that the rock formations on the mountaintop resemble a cat and a dog. Additionally, legend has it that the three betel nut trays used to ask for the hand of Mother-in-law Kaew sank beneath the water, giving rise to the name Khao Sam Kler, which translates to "Three Friends Mountain," a popular tourist destination.

The statue of Father-in-law Joong Dong is an ancient statue. It is said that if you do not ask permission to take a picture, it will not be captured.

Roll around to your heart's content before clinging to the log.

Warped to Koh Mai Thon. When we went in November, there was still some rain. The waves were moderate, and the seawater was beautiful but not clear because it was raining that day.

Those who don't go diving can relax and take photos by the sea.

The seawater is beautiful. If there is no rain during the hot season, the water will be much more beautiful.

This photo was taken by Love Andaman tour guide. Our tour guides are excellent photographers, I must say. If you don't have a photographer, you can ask them to help you take photos. Oh, acting according to their instructions. Wow, if I could wear a bikini in this set, the sea would be bland. Haha.

Steeling oneself to continue working the next day.

This trip was amazing, surrounded by nature. Try disconnecting from your phone and immersing yourself in the present moment. You'll find yourself connecting more deeply with yourself and those around you, rather than being consumed by technology. It's a mental and spiritual peace that's hard to find in the city. We highly recommend it!
