Many of you may have seen this type of sushi before last year.
But after a while, it disappeared…

Until finally, it's back! With the true long-tail sushi with short rice from Sushi Den!
The other day, we stopped by the Siam Square One branch and were not disappointed.
They still make the sushi big, long, and fresh as always.

Check out the video below to whet your appetite!

Farewell, Sushi

This review will discuss the Sushi So Long menu at Sushi Den, which features extra-long slices of fish artfully arranged on bite-sized portions of Japanese rice. There are four options to choose from:

  • Fresh Salmon So Long (89 THB): Long, fresh salmon topped with chopped salmon and tobiko roe.
  • Aburi Salmon Spicy So Long (99 THB): Long, grilled salmon drizzled with a special spicy sauce and topped with salmon roe and chopped scallions.
  • Unagi So Long (199 THB): Long, grilled eel topped with Japanese scallions and dried bonito flakes.
  • Engawa So Long (159 THB): Fin of a flatfish wrapped in seaweed and topped with tobiko roe.

Or, get the complete So Long Set for just 499 THB (originally 546 THB).

Note: This price does not include 7% VAT.

We only tried the Fresh Salmon and Aburi Salmon, as we do not eat eel and are not particularly fond of Engawa. We also ordered other dishes, such as the Salmon and Ikura rice bowl set.

Let's start with the Fresh Salmon So Long. We ordered a total of 4 pieces! We're going to eat until we're orange :P

The salmon roe rice bowl is generously filled with salmon roe, each bite offering a delightful burst of flavor. The perfectly formed rice balls are neither too dense nor too large, ensuring a comfortable eating experience. The salmon is remarkably fresh, devoid of any fishy odor, and is topped with a sprinkle of salmon roe for an added textural element. The combination of textures, from the soft rice to the crunchy roe, creates a satisfying and enjoyable culinary experience.

Aburi Salmon So Long

This dish features salmon that has been lightly seared on top, leaving the bottom raw. The salmon is then drizzled with a spicy sauce mixed with shrimp roe and topped with salmon roe and a sprinkle of onions.

The sauce is not overly spicy and has a mild flavor profile.

This is Ikura Sushi, or salmon roe sushi. It's one of my favorite dishes. If I remember correctly, it costs 145 baht per pair here.

It's a pity that it wasn't very fresh. The quality of the ingredients may vary from batch to batch, as I've had it fresher before. However, the taste is acceptable, but not particularly impressive.

Those interested in trying this dish can visit any branch of Sushi Den, except for the Suvarnabhumi Airport branch, from now until October 15, 2017.

Thank you to everyone who has followed me to this point.
