This trip, we will go camping, sleep under the stars, and hike in search of wild mushrooms at Chet Khot Pong Kon Sao.

Is it possible to do it with only 500 baht? Of course, it is!

The journey begins with a trip from Mo Chit (approximately 2 hours travel time).

Accessible by both minivan and bus.

If traveling by car from Bangkok to Korat, inform the driver to drop you off at Yo Rae Intersection. There is no need to transfer to a bus at Saraburi Bus Terminal.

We opted for a van, which dropped us off at the Saraburi Bus Terminal (fare: 90 baht). From there, we transferred to another vehicle, either a van, bus, or shared taxi. All routes heading towards Korat pass through the terminal.

Please tell the driver to drop me off at Yo Rae intersection or in front of Wat Thap Kwang temple. (The fare is 20 baht.)

Cross the overpass to the opposite side. We need to go another 20 km.

There are no shared taxis available to reach this location. If you do not have your own vehicle, you will need to either hire a private car or take a motorbike taxi.

In front of the building, there are motorcycle taxis available for around 150 baht. Another option is to hail a passing car. With a budget of 500 baht, the only option is to hail a car. Keep hailing until you find a ride, and if you get tired, take a break. If the driver doesn't accept, just keep trying.

We hailed a car and told the driver to take us to the Pong Koon Sao Nature Study Center. We asked them to stop at the entrance.

We then had to hike up to the campsite, which was quite a distance, or hitch a ride like before. No need to ask if we walked or hitched, we hitched, of course! 555

This time, before we could even wave, a group of tourists stopped and asked us if we wanted to join them. This is the kind of friendship that happens along the way. The kindness of Thai people can be found anywhere.

Before reaching the ascent, there is a fresh food market and shops where you can purchase supplies to sustain yourselves.

The top floor typically houses a convenience store and a restaurant, but they are currently closed for renovations. Are you aware of this?

At this level, how would I know, officer? The officer told me the store was closed for a year. I'm in trouble now, I waved down their car, and I don't even have anything to sustain myself. The officer was very kind and lent me a motorcycle to go buy something. I met another kind person :)

Therefore, it is necessary to prepare in advance, as the center will not allow anyone to leave the area after 8 pm.

Note: Stoves and tents are available for rent on the top floor.
