Sweet Treats and Student Crowds: Exploring a Local Dessert Shop
Today, we're indulging in some sweet treats! But be warned, these delicious desserts come with an added bonus: weight gain!
We're not venturing far today, just exploring a local shop near our location: the Suan Rot Fai dessert shop at the MFU Ongkharak campus. However, a word of caution: while the shop aims for a relaxed atmosphere, it can get quite lively, especially considering its location within the university grounds. This means plenty of students!
If you're planning a group outing, this could be a great spot (if you can snag a table, that is). Solo visits during peak student hours might be a bit overwhelming, but some might enjoy the bustling atmosphere.
We frequent this establishment extensively. In fact, our patronage predates its renovation and expansion. Previously, the venue offered a mere two designated photography corners. Presently, the entire ambiance exudes a photogenic aura, inviting patrons to indulge in culinary delights while capturing selfies amidst the chic surroundings. Personally, I am drawn to the exposed brick and concrete walls, elements that resonate with my aesthetic sensibilities. This establishment holds a special allure for me.
Our favorite menu item, which we order every time we visit. Let's start with the first recommendation:
Super Waffle
The set includes one scoop of ice cream (any flavor), whipped cream, and bananas.
Price: 79 baht
Waffles are delicious, but they can be dry. To avoid this, order a drink with your waffle.
A cold chocolate drink with less sugar is a good choice and costs 35 baht.
To be honest, every time I come here, I always order the iced chocolate. I just like it, that's all.
The set includes not only delicious waffles but also super pancakes.
It's like a super waffle set, but with pancakes instead of waffles.
Price: 79 baht.
This is not a one-day meal, I've eaten it all. 5555+
Another interesting menu to recommend is Pang Tren.
It will have bread, ice cream, and whipped cream.
Feeling thirsty today, I opted for an Italian soda. I initially chose the Blue Hawaii, but the store was out of lemons, which would have made it less tart. Since a non-tart Blue Hawaii wouldn't be quite right, I went with the Strawberry Soda instead.
As usual, it cost 35 baht.
Another popular menu item is the Volcano Milk Bread, priced at 59 baht.
The menu doesn't just have desserts, there are also savory dishes.
There are also many rice dishes, the ones I've tried are crispy chicken with green curry and crispy chicken with panang curry (tastier than KFC).
49 baht.
For the best experience, it is recommended to visit the restaurant on Saturdays when it is open. As students are away from campus, the restaurant is less crowded.
If you plan to visit on Sundays, it is advisable to avoid going after 3:00 PM. The restaurant becomes very crowded and tables are scarce. However, if you are willing to wait for a table and your food, you are welcome to visit.
From Mondays to Thursdays, it is best to avoid visiting the restaurant during the evening hours. It is recommended to either order takeout or visit before 3:00 PM to secure a table.
Friday evenings are a possibility, as some students have returned home, increasing the chances of finding a table.
It is important to remember that the restaurant is located within a university campus. Students who live on campus have easier access to the restaurant than those who do not.
