As salarymen, we are exhausted from work. It's time for a vacation to relax and refresh ourselves so that we can recharge and return to work.

Our journey for two began in a small village in the Lan Saka district of Nakhon Si Thammarat province.

"Khiri Wong," a tiny village nestled amidst the mountains with a stream flowing through its heart, is renowned for having the best air quality in Thailand.

Time seems to slow down here compared to the bustling city. Even though the clock ticks at the same pace, we don't have to rush against time. We can live life without the pressure of deadlines or the constant inquiries from our superiors. It's a stark contrast, and this is the true essence of the "slow life" philosophy.

Join us on a journey to Khao Kiri Wong.

For this trip, we traveled by plane with Lion Air. The round-trip ticket price was 1,600 baht per person. The plane departed from Don Mueang International Airport at 8:30 AM.

After approximately one hour of flight, the plane landed at Nakhon Si Thammarat Airport. After collecting my luggage, I looked for transportation into the city to reach Khao Kiri Wong Village. At the airport, there were vans for hire at the exit gate. The fare to the city was 300 baht, and to Khao Kiri Wong, it was 600 baht. I opted to go to the city first and then take a shared taxi to Khao Kiri Wong Village.

The first day at Khao Kiriwong

A Tranquil Escape to Khao Kiri Wong

Nestled amidst the verdant hills of Nakhon Si Thammarat, Khao Kiri Wong beckons with its serene charm. A mere 30-minute drive from the city center transports you to a realm of tranquility, where lush greenery and sparkling streams paint a picture of idyllic beauty.

As you enter the village, the cool mountain air invigorates your senses. Towering peaks embrace the landscape, while vibrant trees cast a verdant canopy overhead. The gentle murmur of a nearby stream invites you to pause and soak in the tranquility.

A songthaew, a traditional Thai open-air truck, meanders through the village, offering a glimpse into the local way of life. The journey culminates at Khao Kiri Wong Riverview Resort, a haven of tranquility nestled amidst the natural splendor.

Upon arrival, the resort's welcoming ambiance envelops you. The staff's warm hospitality and the resort's picturesque setting create an atmosphere of pure relaxation. After settling into your cozy accommodations, the allure of the resort's restaurant proves irresistible. The tantalizing aromas of local delicacies entice your taste buds, promising a culinary adventure.

With hunger pangs gnawing at your stomach, you eagerly order a feast of authentic Thai dishes. The flavors explode on your palate, leaving you utterly satisfied and ready to embrace the tranquility that Khao Kiri Wong has to offer.

After finishing our meal, we decided to explore the room. The atmosphere behind the room was excellent. As soon as we opened the door, we could hear the faint sound of a stream, perfect for relaxing our minds. The room was an air-conditioned room with a price of 1,500 baht per day. We stayed here for two days. After resting, we went out to explore Khao Kiri Wong. Before coming, I looked at reviews to see what places we should visit in Khao Kiri Wong. The first place was "Wang Pla".

The crystal-clear stream in front of the resort allows you to see the fish swimming, and the water is refreshingly cool.

Along the way to "Wang Pla", durians and mangosteens are sold all the way, and there are motorcycles of local people going up to collect fruits and coming down from collecting fruits all the way (the road is quite steep). There is a sign prohibiting tourists from driving motorcycles up on their own. It's dangerous!!

We walked and walked. Before we came, we asked the villagers if it was far. "The aunt replied, "Oh, it's not far. Just walk a little bit." (Southern accent) I've been walking for almost 2 kilometers, and the path is steep. Wung Pla Yu! My girlfriend kept asking the villagers along the way how much further it was. The villagers replied, "Just a little bit."

Finally, we arrived at the "fish palace." Note that this is a private garden, so we had to ask the owner's permission first. The grandmother was very kind. She said, "I'll stop letting people in now, my granddaughter. I have a lot of fish, and I can't take care of everyone." The grandmother raises a lot of dogs. The black things in the picture are fish, and there are a lot of them, as the name "fish palace" suggests.

The atmosphere of Wang Pla is incredibly good.

After returning from Wang Pla, it's time to explore the Kiriwong village by bike. Don't forget to take a picture with the landmark bridge. It's a must-do when visiting Kiriwong. The bike rental fee is 50 baht per day.

We have arrived at the "Khiriwong Village Landmark Bridge".

We were only able to take less than 10 photos before the rain started. We took shelter under the landmark bridge and waited for the rain to stop.

After the rain, the sky is always bright. "Saphan Ban Kiriwong"

The peaceful evening atmosphere at Khao Kiri Wong is truly wonderful. I wish I could take this fresh air back to Bangkok with me.

Day two at Khao Kiri Wong.

Another day at Khao Kiri Wong, waking up to the morning atmosphere at Khao Kiri Wong is truly amazing. This morning, I took photos with the village's suspension bridge (yesterday there were too many people). But last night, I slept very soundly, listening to the sound of the stream. It was so relaxing.

We will spend the entire day living in this village, taking our time and not rushing like we do when working as salarymen.

The morning atmosphere at Khao Kiri Wong is refreshing.

Today, I cycled around Kiree Wong village. The sky was beautiful, the sun was strong, but the air was cool and comfortable. It wasn't too hot, but I wasn't cold either.

After a long bike ride, we refueled with a delicious breakfast, including fresh mangosteen straight from the gardens of the Kiriwong people. Kiriwong is known for its abundance of mangosteen, durian, and other fresh fruits. If you ever visit, be sure to try them! You won't regret it.

Cycling nearly 2 kilometers from the resort to capture the "landmark" of Khao Kiri Wong, there were no tourists yet because we arrived very early.

Take a picture of us together!

"Khiriwong," the village with the best air quality in Thailand.

After capturing stunning photos of the Kiriwong Village, I decided to cool off my feet in the refreshingly cold water. The water was incredibly cold and crystal clear, and the atmosphere was so peaceful. I wish I could take this feeling back to Yutthaya with me.

Let's be lovers forever.

After cycling around the village for almost 5 kilometers, I decided to take a dip in the cool water. It was incredibly refreshing.

Immersing one's feet in cool water provides a refreshing sensation.

Another symbol of "Khiriwong"

The two-day, two-night trip to Kiriwong has come to an end. I wish I could stay longer. We checked out around 8:00 AM and arranged for a local songthaew driver to take us to the airport to pick up our rental car for the trip to Krabi. The driver initially charged 500 baht, but I was able to negotiate it down to 400 baht. He was very kind. What to do in Kiriwong? - Cycle around the village of Na Ja. - Take photos with the village's landmark bridge. - Reset your lungs and embrace the wonderful atmosphere of Kiriwong. - Take a dip in the cool water of Kiriwong. - Enjoy fresh fruit from the gardens of Kiriwong.

We have a small page dedicated to documenting our travels. We would appreciate your support and encouragement.
