This is my first time in Taichung, and my main purpose is to visit Sun Moon Lake. However, since I have never been here before, instead of going directly to Taichung and then to Sun Moon Lake, which would be the most convenient route, I ended up visiting Taipei first and then coming to Taichung. Moreover, I went into the city before heading to Sun Moon Lake. As a result, I had to travel from downtown Taichung, which might be a bit different from the usual route.

In our opinion, Taichung (city) is a small city. There are not many cars, but there are many buses and public transportation. They run around the city. We asked the staff at the Trans Inn hotel where we were staying (some of them were helpful, some were not) about how to get to Sun Moon Lake. They told us to take any bus in front of the 7-Eleven and it would take us to Taichung Station. We woke up early to go to the lake, but it turned out that the bus we took did not go to Taichung Station. It was probably the only bus that did not pass Taichung Station and went out of the city. We had to get off the bus and start over. Instead of getting there early, we ended up being late.

After complaining for a long time, I just wanted to say that I was lost. That's all. After I got my bearings at Taichung Station, I looked for the NT Bus company, which was nearby. I turned my back to Taichung Station and walked a short distance to the right, and I found the NT Bus company. I was more lost than when I went to the lake. When I arrived, I bought a ticket for the bus. The staff asked me if I wanted to buy a ticket for the bus only or a combined ticket. I took the combined ticket because it was cheaper and more worthwhile. Then I went to wait for the bus to leave. The bus drove for a while and stopped at the high-speed rail station. I realized that it was much more convenient to come directly from Taoyuan Airport.

After a nearly two-hour bus ride, we arrived at Sun Moon Lake. However, the lake was nowhere to be seen. We stood around confused until someone pointed us in the right direction. It turned out that the bus parking lot was on a hill, and we had to walk down to the pier. The view from below was much more impressive than from above, with numerous restaurants and hotels lining the waterfront. We made our way through the crowds to the pier, careful not to get stuck in the middle of the throngs of people.

Where does the NT Bus from Taichung stop? Get on the return trip at the same place. Don't go anywhere else. No later than 5:30. The glass slipper is lost.

Shops before reaching the lakeside pier

Tickets are still being sold in packages even when you arrive at the lakeside. You could say that they are constantly trying to sell you something.

The following is a translation of the provided text from Thai to English:

Shuishe Port

Tickets are still available for purchase.

We had a package ticket, the officer tore the ticket and gave us a boat ticket instead.

This is the boat we will take.

Goodbye Shuishe, see you tonight.

Lala Island planted flowers around the octagonal island.

According to local beliefs, Lalu Island is a sacred island revered by the Thao tribe. Situated in the center of the lake, it once marked the boundary between the Sun and Moon sides. However, during the colonial era, the Japanese constructed a dam, and subsequent earthquakes caused the lake's water level to rise, submerging most of the island, leaving only its peak visible.

The Sun Moon Lake, a jewel nestled in the heart of Taiwan, is often likened to a treasure trove. Its emerald-green waters, as clear as glass, are framed by majestic mountains. This unique lake appears to hold two celestial bodies within its embrace: the Sun on its eastern shore and the crescent Moon on its western side. Widely considered the most stunning lake in Taiwan, it draws both domestic and international tourists eager to experience its captivating beauty.

We should have stayed here for a night. However, as we had never been here before, we booked accommodation in Taichung for two nights, which is a pity for this trip.

From Shuishe Wharf, we sailed to Xuanguang Wharf, where the Tang Sanzang Temple is located.

The ship has docked. Prepare to disembark.
