Maldives Trip: Air Asia Flight and Travel Time
We chose to fly with Air Asia, as they had a promotion on Expedia for booking flights and hotels together, which offered a discount. The round-trip tickets to the Maldives for two people cost only 19,180 baht!
Tip: For the best views, choose the left side of the plane on the way there and the right side on the way back. The flight takes approximately four hours.

Upon arrival, the hotel staff awaited us at the airport for a boat transfer to our accommodation. The pier was conveniently located right in front of the airport, allowing for a seamless transition. The 15-minute boat ride was a breeze, with the staff kindly assisting with our luggage. As it happened to be raining during our journey, we enjoyed the comfort of the air-conditioned cabin.
Accommodation

We chose Bandos Island as our relaxing getaway for 4 days and 3 nights. Our room was a Jacuzzi Beach Villa with a half-board plan, which included breakfast and dinner. Drinks were not included, but breakfast included free tea, coffee, juice, and water. The total price, including taxes and fees, was 32,315.73 baht. As we mentioned in the trip that we were on our honeymoon, the hotel prepared a room for us that was closest to the front desk and the beach. So sweet!

The special feature of this room is that it is a tent house with the bed on the 2nd floor. The glass door opens directly to the beach, so we could lie in bed and enjoy the beautiful view. The bathroom was also perfect, with a Jacuzzi for us to relax in while sipping wine. We could also shower outdoors, but if it rained and we didn't want to shower outdoors, there was also an indoor shower. The toilet had a glass door, which… we didn't have to close, honestly. 5555 As for the sink, there was no need to fight over it, as there were 2 of them, and they were spacious enough to put our things on. The wardrobe was in the bathroom. The hotel changed our towels every day, and they provided shampoo, shower gel, toothbrush, and toothpaste, so we didn't have to bring anything. So good!
Exploring the beach

After we checked into our accommodation, we spent some time exploring the beach. Initially, we thought the sun here would be different from Thailand, with a more relaxed atmosphere for strolling and enjoying the breeze. However, we were surprised by the intense sunlight! Despite the heat, the soft white sand and crystal-clear water made us forget about the scorching sun. We especially loved the coconut trees, which we climbed to take some beautiful photos. After exploring the beach, we decided to make a slight change to our plans.

Due to the shallowness of the beach and the abundance of coral, it is not possible to swim in the sea like in Pattaya. Instead, we just lay on the beach and sunbathed.
Activities

Our dream was to go diving and see sharks up close. However, since we cannot swim, we were unable to go on a diving trip. //Wipes away tears T^T But that's okay, we can go on a glass-bottom boat ride instead. We can see sharks, other fish, and the beauty of the seabed just as well. The sharks we saw were no more than 1 meter long. The officer told us that they were very small and therefore not dangerous. We could get close to them, and they wouldn't bite us. But in the video, you have to look closely. The color of the shark's body blends in with the color of the water, and they swim very fast. So we only got a few seconds of footage. What we really liked were the small fish, some of which swam alone, while others came in schools as if they were afraid of being lonely. But when it comes to coral, the color seems a bit pale to us. We don't know if it's because of the species or coral bleaching. The officer also told us that coral only grows up to 10 centimeters in a year. So if you come to see the beauty of nature, please do not touch or come into contact with the coral. It takes a long time for it to grow.

In addition to seeing the beauty of the seabed, in the evening we went out to see a group of dolphins that emerged from the water to greet us, swimming alongside the boat, allowing us to admire their cuteness. We also enjoyed drinks, the breeze, and the view as the sun set over the water. It was incredibly romantic.

In addition to the daytime activities, at night we soaked in the jacuzzi, sipping wine that the resort provided for free as part of our honeymoon trip! The wine provided by the hotel was Intis Merlot Malbec Argentina 2016, which was incredibly romantic.

Maldives: A Romantic Getaway
Photographed on a Samsung Galaxy S8 by Stop me!!
As the Maldives is a Muslim country, there is no pork served. The cuisine focuses on chicken, beef, and fish. Local dishes include roti, which is typically served with various curries, such as curry and salama. However, due to my picky eating habits, I opted for an omelet and juice for breakfast. The omelet was delicious, with a generous amount of cheese. Cheese lovers, don't miss out! For dinner, I had grilled chicken, which was juicy and flavorful. The accompanying sweet and salty brown sauce was heavenly. The variety of food available is impressive, including salads, toast, rice, roti, curries, soups, fried and grilled dishes, fruits, and desserts. You won't get bored with the food options, even if you stay for several days.
Cost breakdown per person:
- Roundtrip airfare: 9,590 baht
- Roundtrip boat transfer: 3,100 baht
- 5-star accommodation: 16,157.865 baht
- 5-liter bottled water: 300 baht
- Dolphin watching and sunset cruise: 1,500 baht
- Glass-bottom boat ride: 800 baht
Total: 9,590 + 3,100 + 16,157.865 + 300 + 1,500 + 800 = 31,447 baht
Please note that this price does not include taxes and service charges for food, drinks, and activities (10% service charge and 12% tax).
For those who haven't decided where to take your loved one for a romantic getaway with a peaceful atmosphere and privacy, I highly recommend Bandos Maldives. Not only does it boast beautiful beaches and a serene ambiance, but it also offers the privacy you need for a romantic escape with your partner. Most importantly, the price is reasonable for a 5-star hotel experience. So, what are you waiting for? Share this article with your loved one and start planning your trip to the Maldives!
