Traveling to Chiang Mai by Train

There are many ways to travel to Chiang Mai, including by plane, bus, train, or private car. The choice depends on individual preferences and convenience. For this trip, I chose to travel by train because it was free at the time (although it is no longer free). The train I took arrived in Chiang Mai around 5:00 AM. After freshening up at the train station, I took a red taxi to the Arcade Bus Station, as I planned to rent a motorbike from the Bikky shop. The taxi fare should not exceed 30 baht, as it is a very short distance. It is advisable to ask the fare before getting in the taxi.

Bikky motorbike rental shop is located right at the Arcade Bus Terminal. You will see a yellow sign when you look out. They have a variety of brands of motorbikes with prices starting from 200 baht. This trip I used a Yamaha Fino 125 which costs 300 baht per day with no deposit required. However, they will keep your ID card. When you return the motorbike, you will get your ID card back. You can return the motorbike at any time, even before the agreed time. It doesn't matter how much fuel is left in the tank when you return the motorbike.

Before embarking on your journey, seek blessings from the sacred landmark of Chiang Mai for good luck. This revered site is none other than Wat Phra That Doi Suthep.

If you visit Chiang Mai and don't visit Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, it's like you haven't been here at all. 😜

Next, we head to Doi Pui, or Doi Pui Village, where you'll find flower gardens and the Hmong Village Museum.

On Doi Pui, there are shops selling souvenirs made by the local hill tribes, such as hill tribe clothing, Chinese tea, silverware, and fruits like oranges and strawberries.

Before reaching the top, I saw a sign on the side of the road while climbing Doi Suthep that read "Manda Waterfall." I decided to stop by before continuing my journey.

The water level is not very high, but it is still beautiful. If you go, don't forget to stop by and take a look.

Next, we continue to Chiang Dao and stop at Him Nam Coffee, located right at the Chiang Dao checkpoint.

The cafe offers a variety of beverages, including coffee, cocoa, and fruit juices. They also serve cakes, made-to-order dishes, and even papaya salad.

The ambiance is pleasant, with the café being situated by the riverside.

Next, before heading to our accommodation, we stopped at Wat Tham Chiang Dao.

The cave is very cool and houses a Buddha statue. It also contains many strangely shaped stalactites and stalagmites.

The original text describes the journey to a village called Na Lae or Chiang Dao. The author mentions that the road is steep and recommends honking the horn when approaching curves due to the narrowness of the path. This serves as a precaution to alert oncoming vehicles.

We stayed at "Baan Lee So View Suay" for 500 baht per person. The view was breathtaking, with Doi Luang Chiang Dao directly in front of us. We took deep breaths of fresh air.

All accommodations are within walking distance for taking photos. The views from each location are not very different, and the prices of the accommodations are similar.

The fog during the day adds a touch of coolness to the atmosphere.

It's dinner time. Eating rice with a view like this is so good.

The translation of the text is:

It was a very clear night and the stars were beautiful.

The user's input is a short sentence in Thai. Here's the translation in English:

"Taking a picture with an elephant, just like them. Haha."

The morning atmosphere is amazing. The view is incredible, and this picture was taken right from my accommodation.

Sipping coffee amidst the morning mist

After lunch, we checked out and continued our journey.

Continuing on to the second day, we arrived at Fang District and stayed at Doi Ang Khang, camping at the Mon Son viewpoint.

The atmosphere at noon was incredibly chilly, with fog persisting throughout the day. We booked a tent, rented bedding, and continued our exploration.

Continuing on to the Angkhang Royal Agricultural Station, a short drive from the Mon Son viewpoint.

The Royal Angkhang Agricultural Station boasts numerous flower gardens and offers ample photo opportunities.

There are many plum orchards and fruit orchards.

We then explored a beautiful garden (name unknown). After exploring the garden, we returned to the Mon Son viewpoint.

The description of the night in Siam is a bit lonely, haha.

The sky wasn't very clear. There was fog flowing and blocking the stars all the time, so I couldn't see the stars very clearly.

It's time for bed. It's so cold! Brrr!

The morning air is so clear, why can't I see the sea of fog? It's so frustrating!

It's a shame that I didn't see the sunrise or the sea of fog, but it all depends on luck. Some people see it, and some people don't, like me.

No worries, you can always try again. ;)

On the third night, we will stay at Mon Ing Dao, but on the way, we will stop by "Mae Sa Waterfall".

If you're passing by Mae Sa Waterfall, don't forget to stop by. The waterfall here is beautiful and has several levels, but we didn't get to see all of them. 5555

Let's continue to the Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden, a place that gathers a vast collection of various plant species.

Here's a brief overview: The park features various plant species categorized into different sections, nature trails, and the Mae Sa Noi waterfall.

The highlight is the treetop walkway, which was unfortunately closed for renovations when I visited. However, it is now open to the public.

Our accommodation for tonight is "Mon Ing Dao" at Khun Mai, located near Mon Cham.

Accommodation options are diverse, including standard rooms and tent rentals.

The room is spacious and comfortable, with air conditioning and an en-suite bathroom.

Checked in and settled into our accommodation. We then headed to Mon Cham, arriving in the late afternoon when the weather was pleasantly cool.

The view is stunning, with a beautiful flower garden perfect for taking pictures (although I didn't take any myself, haha). There's also a restaurant and huts where you can sit and enjoy the view. This is a popular spot at Mon Cham.

This photo was taken at a scenic viewpoint near the Mon Ing Dao accommodation.

Tonight, we're having a light barbecue. The cool weather makes it even more enjoyable.

The evening atmosphere was a pity, the sky was overcast and not a single star was visible.

Good morning on the 4th day before going to Mae Kampong, we stopped at Pong Yaeng Aeng Doi, a coffee shop and restaurant.

The taste is good, delicious. There is also ice cream.

I'd be glad to translate the sentence for you:

Original text:

พอดีไปถึงแต่เช้าร้านอาหารเค้ายังไม่เปิดเลยไม่ได้ลองชิม แต่ดูบรรยากาศดีนะข้างๆมีลำธารเล็กๆ

I arrived early in the morning, and the restaurant wasn't open yet, so I wasn't able to try the food. However, the atmosphere seemed nice, and there was a small stream nearby.

Pay respects to Luang Pho Tan Jai at Wat Phra That Doi Kham.

The translation of "มีจุดชมวิวให้ถ่ายรูปด้วยสวยเลย" is:

"There is a viewpoint for taking pictures with beautiful scenery."

Continuing on to the Royal Park Rajapruek, there are flower gardens and many places to take photos.

The Ho Kham Luang is located in the inner part of the temple complex and is another must-see attraction.

Next, we'll head to the San Kamphaeng Hot Springs.

There are hot springs for boiling eggs.

There is a foot bath and a soaking tub.

The last night we stayed at Samran Homestay, which cost 700 baht per person, including dinner and breakfast.

The air here is excellent. It is a village nestled amidst forests and mountains. They say that the weather here is cool all year round.

A small stream flows beside it. The main attraction for visitors to Mae Kampong is Mae Kampong Waterfall.

And then there's the Chom Nok Chom Mai shop, but we didn't go because we were tired from the journey. 5555

The morning atmosphere in Mae Kampong

The fun has come to an end. It was a 5-day, 4-night trip to Chiang Mai. This review is a rough guide for those who are planning to visit Chiang Mai but don't know where to go. I hope this review is helpful. If there are any errors in the information, I apologize.
