Winter has arrived, and I've been pondering where to go to experience the cold. The north, with its mountains and fog, is always a tempting option. However, with limited time and no vacation days left, a trip to the north is out of the question. Instead, I've opted for a destination closer to Bangkok, a place rumored to be just as beautiful as the north: "Pang Ung, Suphan Buri," or the Huay Wong Reservoir. To test the rumors, I'm embarking on a camping trip with friends to this hidden gem.

The journey to the destination is not difficult. Just turn on GPS and follow the route comfortably. The road leading to the Huay Wong Reservoir is not too rough, even though it is a dirt road. Small cars can drive in comfortably. "Pang Ung, Suphan Buri" is not open to tourists all year round. It is closed from April 1st to August 12th of every year to restore nature and improve the beauty of the place.

We arrived at Pang Ung, Suphan Buri in the late afternoon and went to register for tent camping. The fee was 100 baht per tent. We immediately found a place to pitch our tent and cooked dinner.

Accommodation options at the Huay Wong Reservoir include floating bungalows and camping. Visitors can choose to bring their own tents or rent them from the site. The reservoir offers a true escape into nature, with no electricity and only kerosene lamps for lighting at night. Additionally, there is no mobile phone signal, encouraging visitors to fully immerse themselves in the natural environment.

In addition to the stunning scenery, there are numerous activities to enjoy at this location. Photography enthusiasts can capture unique and captivating shots from various angles. Thrill-seekers can indulge in activities such as cliff jumping, kayaking, and paddleboarding. Notably, campers will appreciate the exceptionally clean bathroom facilities.

The tranquil atmosphere of the night was broken only by the howling wind, carrying the chill of winter. This journey, costing less than a thousand baht for fuel, food, and accommodation, offered a true immersion in the wonders of nature. For those seeking a taste of natural beauty, Pang Ung in Suphan Buri, conveniently located near Bangkok, is an excellent choice.
