"Pa Bong Piang" - a name that resonates with many. The image that immediately comes to mind is the vast expanse of terraced rice fields stretching as far as the eye can see.

Many people would likely wave goodbye upon learning that this location is difficult to access and, more importantly, lacks electricity and television.

Important! If you come during the wrong season, you may not see anything at all.

However, who would have known that this location boasts breathtaking scenery and a truly remarkable atmosphere. The towering mountains, with their intricate contours, stand in stark contrast against the horizon, while the morning mist adds an ethereal touch.

Wow, I have to see it with my own eyes to believe it...

There are three recommended periods to visit Pa Bong Piang Forest, depending on individual preferences (and the ability to book accommodation!).

In late June and July, when farmers are busy transplanting rice seedlings, the contrast between the brown paddy fields and the vibrant green of the young rice plants is a sight to behold. However, be warned that access roads during this period may be extremely muddy.

August-September is the most beautiful time for rice fields, with lush green paddy fields filling the landscape. If you're looking for stunning photos, this is the perfect time to visit.

Oct.-Nov. If you like the view of golden rice fields with a cool breeze and a touch of romance, this is the time to come.

After this month, villagers will begin to harvest rice.

Travel

Our trip took place between October 27th and 30th, with pleasantly cool weather and a light morning mist.

Wow, that was truly amazing.

We rented a car in Chiang Mai city and drove ourselves, following the reviews of friends on Pantip.com. We also stopped to visit some attractions along the way. (I borrowed a picture as a guide, haha)

From Chiang Mai city, drive along the road to Doi Inthanon National Park until you reach the second checkpoint. Turn onto the road that leads to Mae Chaem district. Continue driving for about 12 km until you see the Mae Pan Waterfall sign. Turn right and follow the sign. (All types of vehicles can access the parking lot on this road.) However, from the waterfall to Ban Pa Bong Piang, you need a four-wheel drive vehicle because the road is quite muddy and requires driving skills. The wheels are prone to getting stuck in mud and potholes.

If you are unable to park your car at the accommodation, you can park it at the car park and contact the owner to pick you up for a fee of 700 baht, which is a fixed price for both the outward and return journeys.

This is just the beginning. It will take some time for the liver and kidneys to be transplanted and function properly. 555+

Accommodation

The accommodation here is mainly simple huts without electricity or hot water. It's a truly natural experience. Importantly, there are only a few huts available (no wonder it's so hard to book!). The huts cost 500 baht per person (including one night's accommodation and two meals, breakfast and dinner). We chose to stay at "Ma Chi Po" hut, owned by Mr. Wichai, which is located higher up. Each hut has a front area for relaxing and a private bathroom. A little tip: take a shower in the evening, as the bathroom has no lights and you'll need to use candles.

After packing our bags, it was time to take a walk and take pictures along the rice fields. Let me tell you, the view here is beautiful and the air is very fresh.

The golden rice stalks, awaiting harvest, are slippery. Please be careful not to step on them, as some people have already done. As for me, I've managed to strike several poses. 555+

A small waterfall flows through the middle of the rice field.

"No matter which angle you take the photo from, it will be beautiful."

The sunset today is truly beautiful. If you're here with your partner, it's even more romantic! ><

Mosquitoes can be abundant (even overwhelming) in the late afternoon. It is highly recommended to bring mosquito repellent.

As darkness descends, the surroundings will become pitch black. Don't forget to bring a flashlight, but if you don't have one, the accommodation provides candles and lanterns for your use.

The morning has arrived. As I opened the door, I could only say one word... wow! The view from the front of the house is amazing. The sea of fog is truly spectacular.

The mist is beautiful and chilling, so cool in the morning. 555+

Lush green rice fields and white mist. Oh, so refreshing.

Enjoying the atmosphere with rice porridge, Ovaltine coffee, served in front of the house.

Simple food with an extraordinary view. 555+

The fog starts to roll in around sunrise, so be sure to wake up early to catch the sea of mist! Otherwise, you'll miss it for sure!

Take a few more photos before leaving.

A small deposit.

This is another place for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

Immerse yourself in nature, watch the mist, gaze at the mountains, and savor simple meals.

Sleep in a normal place.

The translation of the text is:

"But the feeling is special… comfortable physically and mentally, I can't really describe it ^^"

This photo reminds me of the Teletubbies. (Haha!)
