This place is worth a visit... Every time I say this, it means that our new trip is about to begin again. And where is it...

"Mae Hong Son: The City of Three Mists"

Nestled amidst rolling hills and shrouded in mist, Mae Hong Son beckons travelers with its romantic charm. This enchanting city offers a captivating blend of mountainous landscapes, ethereal fog, and refreshingly cool air, promising an unforgettable escape.

We spent hours reading reviews to decide where to go. We wanted to see as much as possible in our six days and five nights, but we joked that we'd need to quit our jobs to do it all.

Let's go then, grab your bag and follow me.

Our travel dates for this trip are September 20-25, during the late rainy season and early winter. Yes, it's the perfect time for fog hunting! ^^

We embarked on our journey from Bangkok at 2:00 AM, aiming to reach Chiang Mai by the afternoon. After a long drive filled with naps and occasional squabbles, we finally arrived in Chiang Mai. For the first night, we opted to stay in Chiang Mai itself. As everyone knows, the road to Pai is notorious for its endless curves, and we didn't want to risk driving it after a long journey. We chose to stay at The Little Siri Hotel, which is pet-friendly. The rooms and bathrooms were exceptionally clean.

On the second day, we set off early to Pai, choosing to take the route through Huai Nam Dang National Park. We decided to stay at Yun Lai Sea of Mist that night, hoping to wake up to the sight of mist floating in front of our room (absolutely amazing!).

This location offers both camping grounds and earthen houses (Chinese-style houses) for accommodation. It is approximately 1.6 kilometers from Santichon Village and serves as a scenic spot for observing the sea of mist and sunrise in Pai District.

House price

During our visit, houses with private bathrooms for two people were available for 1000 baht. (Note: Prices may increase during peak season.)

There is a shop selling hot tea, allowing you to sip and enjoy the view (but it seems to be more of a photo prop lol).

The observation deck offers stunning views and several charming photo spots.

A padlock for couples (no need to travel all the way to Korea, haha!)

The pre-sunset sunlight and the mountain view are breathtaking. It's a sight that never gets old.

The model for this trip is very camera-shy. As soon as they see the camera, they hide. (If anyone has any tips on how to get a cat to look at the camera, please send me a private message. 5555+)

As we strolled, taking photos and sipping tea, we chatted with the caretaker of the guesthouse. Suddenly, he uttered a sentence that pierced our hearts: "You won't see any fog during this time." (It was like a bolt of lightning striking our souls.)

Although it is unlikely, we still secretly hope that there will be a new doctor tomorrow morning.

And then, our wish came true. The sight that greeted us as we opened the door to that room... Oh my God...

Wow... (a million wows)

Wow! Another early bird award.

Those who wish to propose to their partners, please come to this corner.

Tourists flocked to the viewpoint to witness the breathtaking sea of mist from the early hours of the morning.

For those who do not stay overnight and wish to enjoy the sea of mist, an entrance fee of 20 baht per person is required.

The sun is about to rise.

Even though the sun has risen, there is still fog to be seen. It's really refreshing.

The model is dressed and ready to go. (He's even more handsome than Nadech, haha!)

Clicking the shutter repeatedly before rushing to pack your bags for the next station...

"Baan Ja Bo": A Culinary Destination Worth the Winding Road

The mere mention of "Baan Ja Bo" is enough to make anyone's mouth water for a delicious bowl of noodles. This hidden gem, nestled amidst the scenic curves of a winding road, promises a culinary experience that tantalizes both the taste buds and the eyes. But is the hype justified? Does this "หลักสิบ" (affordable) eatery truly offer "หลักล้าน" (million-dollar) views?

A community of hill tribe people located in Pang Ma Pha District, approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes from Pai. The Hanging Leg Noodle Shop in Ban Ja Bo welcomes visitors at the entrance of the village.

The atmosphere is fantastic, surrounded by lush green mountains.

Popular hanging corners

Noodles for under ten baht, but incredibly delicious.

Savoring a steaming bowl of noodles, the rich broth warming the soul, while gazing upon the majestic mountain vista - a perfect harmony of flavors and scenery.

Tonight, we will be staying at a homestay run by Ja Bo. The homestay is a local villager's house. (We booked the homestay in advance with the community leader.) It is recommended to book in advance if you plan to stay here.

House price

Accommodation is priced per person at 200 baht per person. Meals are 100 baht per person per meal (choose between breakfast or dinner).

The accommodation is a true homestay experience, meaning you will share the same living space as the local family, including sleeping in the same house. The specific house you stay in will be assigned by the host (no choice available).

Fortunately, we got a house with a mountain view, on the same side as the noodle shop.

Tonight's room view, this is the view from the bedroom (Oh, the atmosphere is amazing).

Our bedroom is inside the house, while the bathroom is located outside and shared among all guests. There are no private bathrooms and no hot water. You will need to take a cold shower. However, if you don't feel dirty, you don't have to shower. (Only dirty people need to shower. As for me, I'm clean, so I don't need to shower. Haha!)

Around 6 pm, it was time for dinner. The owner of the house served the food. The chili paste of Sergeant Bo's house was very delicious. (If you come to Sergeant Bo's house and don't eat the chili paste here, it's a big mistake.)

Good morning! We were awakened by this view. Wow, let's rub our eyes hard.

A sea of mist floats before the bedroom window. ^^

Rushing to grab the camera, I captured the breathtaking view from the scenic spot, just as the story described.

Let the picture speak for itself, no need for words, my throat hurts. 555

The sun is about to rise, beautiful in a different way.

Taking playful photos while waiting for the noodle shop to open.

The noodle shop opens around 6:00 AM, and tourists gradually fill the shop.

Come to Huay Kha, otherwise you'll be considered not having arrived.

Popular viewpoint ^0^ Even though the sun has risen, there is still fog to be seen.

We are very lucky today because the villagers told us that there hasn't been fog for a long time, and it just appeared today.

After feasting our eyes, hearts, and stomachs, we continued our journey...

"Ban Rak Thai"

Located approximately 44 kilometers from Mae Hong Son city, "Ban Rak Thai" is the last village before reaching the Thai-Myanmar border. The majority of the villagers are of Chinese Yunnan or Chinese Haw descent.

The village strongly resembles a Chinese town.

The village's prominent features include the central reservoir and the houses of the villagers built along the water's edge.

Some angles resemble Japan.

There are guesthouses available at various prices around the reservoir.

For tonight's accommodation, we have booked a stay at "Lee Wine Rak Thai," an earthen house nestled amidst a tea plantation.

House price

Accommodation costs 1200 baht per night for a fan room (but it's not hot, the air is very cool). It has a TV, a water heater, and breakfast is included.

Each house is named after the type of tea plant.

Entrance to the house

Visitors who are not staying at the resort are welcome to take photos in the tea plantation area, but entry to the accommodation zone is not permitted.

For dinner tonight, we can order food from Liwan's restaurant. Their signature dishes include pork leg and steamed buns.

Full and ready for bed, as tomorrow we must wake up early to capture the sunrise over the reservoir.

A thin mist hangs over the water's surface. It's so beautiful.

The atmosphere is incredibly romantic.

This angle makes it feel like you've been transported to Japan.

This location is ideal for photography enthusiasts, offering stunning views from every angle.

After a leisurely stroll and photo session, soaking in the atmosphere, it was time for breakfast.

With that done, it's time to pack our bags and head to the next destination... (with a touch of dramatic flair).

"Pang Ung", also known as the Royal Project Pang Tong 2, is a hidden gem in Mae Hong Son. We were determined to visit this place.

Pang Ung is located a short distance from Ban Rak Thai and is accessible by car. The road is steep and winding, but manageable for most vehicles. We originally planned to camp there, but the project is currently not allowing camping due to concerns about falling branches. Instead, we stayed at "Baan Jing Homestay".

House price

The accommodation is in individual houses, each costing 500 baht. The houses have private bathrooms and fans, but the weather is so cool that you won't need the fans. In fact, it gets very cold at night.

The atmosphere here is incredibly relaxing and comfortable, both physically and mentally.

Popular pier, signature of Pang Ung

Sunlight reflecting off the pine trees, coupled with the cool air, creates an incredibly enjoyable experience.

Another popular activity here is bamboo rafting. If you are interested in bamboo rafting, go for it! The rafting takes about 30 minutes.

Light fog and smoke (as Bird Thongchai sang, haha!)

Switzerland, the land of three mists

The final stop is Nong La, the horse that has become a symbol of Pang Ung (appearing in almost every review).

Time flies when you're having fun. The moments of joy always seem to pass by quickly. Try stepping outside of your comfort zone and experiencing life from a different perspective. Immerse yourself in nature and absorb its beauty.

Every journey offers a wealth of learning experiences.
