Experience Happiness Delivered from Doi Tung to Bangkokians at the "Kad Doi Tung at Central Chidlom" Event.

The Mae Fah Luang Foundation under Royal Patronage, a leading organization in sustainable development (SDGs), continues the royal initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra, the Princess Mother, to develop people to be self-reliant with dignity and promote sustainable coexistence with nature. Recognizing the importance of promoting social enterprises to create jobs and income for communities, the Mae Fah Luang Foundation has developed businesses under the "Doi Tung" brand, including processed food, Doi Tung cafes, handicrafts, agriculture, and tourism.

Mom Luang Dispanadda Diskul, CEO of the Mae Fah Luang Foundation, and Ms. Sirikit Chirakit, Co-Managing Director of Central Department Store Co., Ltd., jointly organized the "Doi Tung Market at Central Chidlom" event at The Event Hall, 3rd floor, Central Chidlom Department Store, from today until March 4, 2018. The event features an exhibition commemorating the grace of Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra and His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, showcasing their royal conduct in performing royal duties at Doi Tung and their royal initiative in "Planting Forests, Planting People," which focuses on improving the quality of life of the hill tribe people in the Doi Tung area, along with the conservation and restoration of the headwaters forest. By developing skills, knowledge, and creating honest careers, they can become self-reliant. The event also simulates the "Doi Tung Market," bringing products and services from the Doi Tung Development Project in Chiang Rai province to be sold, including famous northern dishes from "Khrua Tamnak," such as Gaeng Hang Lay, Yam Hed Aon Doi, Nam Prik Sapa, Sai Oua, Khao Soi, by the head chef of Khrua Tamnak, who used to be the head chef who cooked for Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra when she resided at Doi Tung Palace. There are also Doi Tung products, Doi Tung coffee, macadamia nuts, handicrafts, hand-woven fabrics, clothes, scarves, ceramics, agricultural products, cold-climate flowers, rare orchids, and various fresh vegetables.

For other activities within the event, participants can enjoy Doi Tung-style workshops, such as Hands of Doi Tung, where they can decorate Sa paper with yarn and dried flowers from the Mae Fah Luang Garden. There will also be a fabric bag painting workshop with tribal patterns, and a Talk & Tips session where participants can listen to and talk with experts from Doi Tung who will share tips on how to care for Doi Tung potted plants in Bangkok, or how to make a delicious "Yum Phulae" from a top chef of the "Krua Tamnak" restaurant.

The "Doi Tung Market at Central Chidlom" event presents a unique opportunity for Bangkok residents, as well as Thai and international tourists, to experience the atmosphere and identity of Doi Tung. It showcases the potential and creativity of the local communities residing on Doi Tung.
