Amphawa, a name I've heard for a long time. It's close to Bangkok, easy to get to, and perfect for a day trip or an overnight stay. But the problem is, I haven't had the chance to go yet. But enough is enough! Let's finally take a trip to Amphawa!
Amphawa, a charming riverside community, is situated along the Mae Klong River. In the past, its strategic location made it a bustling port town, with numerous boats docking for trade. Notably, Amphawa is also the birthplace of King Phutthaloetla Naphalai (Rama II).
Travel
- Take a van to Mo Chit 2
- Walk to the van stop at platform "two" (the platform without a number =_= at the very end)
- Get off at the last stop of the van (Mae Klong van terminal)
- Take a small bus directly to Amphawa Floating Market.
After arriving at Mo Chit, you may feel a bit confused, but just keep walking straight ahead. Go to platform number two (the platform without a number sign). You can ask people around you which bus to take to Amphawa, and they will guide you to the correct bus.
After a short ride in the van, we arrived at the Maeklong Railway Market. We were dropped off near the red roof, where we waited for the small bus that would take us to the Amphawa Floating Market.
Looking to the far left, we will see a small bus parking lot for the Amphawa Floating Market.
Once we get on the bus, it is recommended to open the Amphawa Floating Market map to get a rough idea of when we will arrive so that we can prepare to get off the bus.
After about 15 minutes, the car will take us to Amphawa Floating Market.
Amphawa Floating Market, a name that many have heard for a long time. Being a floating market, it might not seem special, especially since it is located near Bangkok. We felt the same way, not feeling particularly excited about visiting this market. However, believe me, Amphawa Floating Market will change your mind the moment you arrive.
The Amphawa Floating Market is a truly captivating destination, unlike any other floating market. It exudes a vibrant atmosphere, seamlessly blending traditional ways of life with modern conveniences. This unique combination ensures a captivating experience that leaves visitors wanting more.
While commercialization is undeniably present, Amphawa offers much more than meets the eye. It boasts a learning center and countless untold stories waiting to be discovered, deepening our understanding of this unique cultural hub.
Upon closer inspection, we can observe authentic lifestyles along the riverbanks. The pristine waters of the river serve as a testament to the people's reliance on this natural resource. Looking back, it becomes evident that the people of the past found joy in coexisting with water in this manner.
A must-do activity is taking a boat trip to see the fireflies. The recommended time to go is 6:00 PM or 6:30 PM, as you will be able to see the sunset while riding the boat and witness the fireflies at their most active time.
Another beautiful aspect and charm of Amphawa is the lively atmosphere at night.
Every time you step out of your comfort zone, like traveling alone, one thing that never leaves your mind is anxiety. But try it, when you go many times, today you will feel more confident to go out. And at Amphawa, you will be able to rest your heart when you go on a boat trip. It gives us more than fireflies. It's a time when we can sit still on the boat, the cool wind blowing makes us feel so comfortable. It's so good that I want to keep it for a long time and don't want it to disappear. It's really worth it, worth the beauty of the sunset while cruising. The cool air heals our hearts. More than fireflies are stars, stars that the bright lights in Bangkok make us not see them very clearly.
Come on, it's your time to go out and heal your tired heart. :)
