Phu Bo Bit

Phu Bo Bit serves as a scenic viewpoint overlooking the city of Loei. Opened to the public recently, the ascent to the summit covers less than a kilometer, offering a delightful walk amidst the natural surroundings. Several rest stops along the way provide diverse perspectives of the cityscape. The peak of Phu Bo Bit, particularly during the morning hours, presents an opportunity to immerse oneself in the embrace of nature and witness the ethereal mist up close. This captivating destination is a must-visit for any traveler seeking an unforgettable experience.

Phu Lom Lo

A pink mountain, almost a thousand rai, covered with pink rhododendrons, spans three provinces: Loei, Phetchabun, and Phitsanulok. The unique feature of this area is that it is covered with pink rhododendrons that bloom in the winter, making it a romantic spot perfect for taking photos with your partner, friends, or family.

Phu Pha Poa

A Thai Mount Fuji, with a highlight being a mountain that resembles Mount Fuji in Japan. However, it is special because it is located in Thailand and has a shape similar to an inverted bell. It can be viewed from various directions, making it an endlessly fascinating sight.

Picturesque Rock Garden

The intricate, multi-layered limestone mountains, resembling coral, suggest that this area was once a sea, dating back over two hundred million years. Notably, the area boasts a rich diversity of plant life and offers close-up views of the limestone formations.

Huai Krathing Reservoir

The Huai Krathing Reservoir, also known as Huai Nam Man, is a natural tourist attraction located near the city center of Loei Province. This area is filled with beautiful waterways and mountains. Visitors can enjoy activities such as bamboo rafting, sightseeing, and dining while taking in the serene atmosphere. The floating restaurants offer a variety of seating options to suit your preferences.

Khood Khuu Rapids

The natural rapids of varying sizes in the Mekong River, designed to meander and twist with the flow of the water, create a unique and harmonious landscape with the mountains and the way of life of both Laos and Thailand.

Cultural Tourist Attractions

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chiang Khan

A cultural village that preserves the architectural style of old wooden houses, offering a unique blend of vintage charm and modern appeal. Situated along the Mekong River, Chiang Khan boasts scenic walkways and opportunities for cycling amidst the historic wooden structures. A highlight is the traditional sticky rice alms offering, while culinary delights like grilled shrimp and Mieng Kam leaves add a touch of sophistication to the experience.

Temple of Sri Pho Chai

Nestled amidst verdant rice fields and ancient mountains, the temple boasts a golden stupa reminiscent of Wat Xieng Thong in Luang Prabang. This captivating site serves as a venue for the vibrant Songkran flower procession. The temple's unique stupa design warrants preservation.

Huay Lad Forest Monastery

The temple features a large gable-roofed ubosot (ordination hall) housing a white Buddha statue made of calcite, known as Phra Sappanya Ru Jaeng Sam Daen Lok Dhatu. The ubosot, also known as Sala Chalermprakiet, has been granted permission to display the royal monograms "Ph.P.R." and "S.K.", as well as the emblems of the 60th Anniversary of the King's Accession to the Throne and the 80th Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty the King.

Sri Song Rak Stupa

The Phra That Sri Song Rak, a white stupa with a unique, elongated naga staircase, stands as a testament to the 400-year-old friendship between Thailand and Laos. This significant historical landmark in Loei province serves as both a symbol and official emblem of the region. Every 15th day of the 6th lunar month, locals and visitors alike participate in a sacred tradition by offering golden beeswax candles (made from beeswax) to the stupa, seeking blessings and good fortune for themselves and their families.

Local Cuisine

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Spicy papaya salad (Som Tam Dang Dang), Lao sausage, and hot rice noodles

This is a spicy papaya salad that uses large, chewy rice noodles (similar in shape to "lod chong") as a key ingredient. In addition to the unique noodles, the flavor is unlike any other. This is because the restaurant uses a special recipe that includes pickled garlic water and other ingredients that are mixed together to create a perfect balance of sour, sweet, salty, and spicy flavors.

Candied Coconut (Grade A)

Most green, white, and pink candied coconuts are small, hard, and much cheaper than grade A candied coconuts. If you have tried grade A candied coconuts, you will be impressed by their fragrance, sweetness, and soft texture. Although they are more expensive, they are easier to eat and more enjoyable.

A drop in the ocean

Another popular breakfast spot in Loei, this restaurant serves flavorful and well-balanced "khao phiaek" (or "kway chap yuan" in some regions), a Vietnamese-style rice noodle soup. The affordable prices and delicious taste keep the restaurant consistently busy.

Annual Festivals
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Phi Ta Khon Festival

The Dan Sai district's renowned festival, similar to foreign mask festivals, attracts both Thai and international visitors. It features numerous exciting activities, with the highlight being the Phi Ta Khon procession, featuring both small (children) and large Phi Ta Khon figures. Visitors can enjoy the parade and request photographs.

Christmas Festival at Phu Ruea

The winter festival in Phu Ruea district features a large area filled with vibrant red Christmas trees, creating a festive winter atmosphere on a pleasant day, reminiscent of a classic winter wonderland.
