Continuing from our previous post, after exploring Prachinburi, we spent another night in Nakhon Nayok. On our way back to Bangkok, we made several stops at various attractions along the route. While Nakhon Nayok is renowned as a city of waterfalls, boasting numerous stunning cascades, it also offers a variety of other captivating destinations. Let's delve into the places we visited during our journey.

Khun Dan Prakarn Chon Dam

The Allure of Khao Laem National Park: A Must-Visit Destination in Nakhon Nayok

Khao Laem National Park stands as a prominent landmark in Nakhon Nayok, a must-visit destination for any traveler exploring the province. The park's captivating beauty and diverse activities draw visitors from near and far.

Renting a golf cart offers an exhilarating way to explore the scenic views atop the dam. For groups of four or less, the rental fee is a reasonable 350 baht per hour, providing excellent value for the experience. Alternatively, guided tours with informative commentary are available for those who prefer a more relaxed approach or larger groups.

Wang Takrai Waterfall

This is a waterfall that I visited when I was a child, a very long time ago. I haven't had the chance to come back until now. I took the opportunity to stop by and take a look. I ended up with a ton of photos. When I went in, the staff told me that the water level was a bit low. I was a bit worried that I might be disappointed, but in the end, I wasn't. The water level was still quite high. The atmosphere was nice, and there were quite a few people playing in the water and having picnics. We sat and ate papaya salad while looking at the waterfall. There is an entrance fee here. We went with one car and paid 150 baht.

Sariga Cave Temple

This temple was once visited by Luang Pu Mun for Tudong and meditation practice. We can also go up to see the cave where Luang Pu Mun practiced. For those who are interested in making merit, you can stop by to pay respect to the Buddha and make a wish. The overall atmosphere is shady and peaceful.

Golden Grassland of Khao Lon (Khao Lon Adventure)

For adventure and thrill-seekers, this is a must-visit destination. It offers a range of activities, including hiking, cliff rappelling, and rock climbing, to test your courage. While not ideal for those who prefer a more relaxed experience, there are still stylish spots for photo opportunities, particularly near the rock climbing area. However, some climbing skills may be required, so proceed with caution. The golden-hued grass during the winter season adds to the picturesque scenery.

Tung Nam Mui Bridge

Due to an error in timing, I missed the opportunity to take pictures with the lush green rice fields as they had just been harvested two days ago. Instead, I found myself in an empty field. However, for those who are interested in taking pictures, I recommend checking the rice field's schedule in advance. For those who are skilled photographers, even an empty field like this can be used to create beautiful pictures. There is a 20 baht parking fee upon entry.

Wat Chulabhornwanaram

The bamboo tunnel is so beautiful that it feels like you're in Japan, except for the weather. However, it's still very shady when you go in to take pictures, and it's not too hot. It's a popular spot for everyone to take pictures. After that, you can go in to worship and make merit for peace of mind.

Bonus...

Wang Bon Reservoir

Location

This hidden gem is located off the main road back to Bangkok, but we made a detour on our way from Prachinburi to Nakhon Nayok. It's a popular spot for camping by the reservoir, with kayaks available for rent. Unfortunately, it was raining when we visited, so we couldn't go kayaking or take many photos. However, during the rainy season, you can witness small waterfalls cascading into the reservoir.

Tree House Cafe

This cafe, located at The Fores Home Resort, served as a welcome respite from the heat. The glasshouse-style cafe, adorned in black tones, boasts a pleasant atmosphere with abundant greenery and charming photo opportunities. The menu features delightful beverages at reasonable prices.

Riverside Restaurant

We left our dinner order with this restaurant. At that time, we didn't know which restaurant to eat at. We just drove around looking for a restaurant that wasn't too far from Khun Dan Dam, because our accommodation was in that area. We randomly came across this restaurant, but it seemed like luck. We randomly came across a delicious restaurant with reasonable prices and large portions. They even had large river prawns. It was amazing.
