During Songkran, I stopped by a shopping mall to buy some things. It happened to be dinner time, and the kids wanted Japanese food, so we stopped by Yayoi.

Green tea refill and salad included with the ordered meal set.

The first dish we ordered was the Beef Rice Set, which arrived in a stylish bento box. The thinly sliced beef was stir-fried with onions and Japanese soy sauce, and sprinkled with spring onions. Although the beef was a bit tough, its thinness and the rich sauce paired perfectly with the hot steamed rice, offering a sweet flavor. The pickled ginger helped to cut through the richness, adding a delightful touch to this beef rice dish.

Hot Plate Steak (Teppanyaki)

The next menu item was the steak (teppanyaki). The steak itself was a bit tough and chewy for a steak, but eating it with the sauce that was served with it greatly enhanced the flavor. The vegetables that were stir-fried on the hot plate also provided good flavor and freshness. It was quite enjoyable with hot rice.

The dish is served with a Japanese soy sauce salad, which has a strong flavor that complements the crispness of the vegetables. The kimchi, with its sweet, sour, and slightly spicy taste, helps to cut through the richness of the dish. The miso soup, with its salty and savory flavor, helps to cleanse the palate and make the meal more enjoyable.

Pork Tonkatsu Cheese Curry Rice Set

This dish was ordered by a child who was eager to try it, but they were slightly disappointed. The pork was quite thin, so all they could taste was the breading and a hint of cheese. The tonkatsu was also fried at a high temperature, almost to the point of burning.

The accompanying curry sauce elevates the dish's flavor profile. Its sweet and creamy notes appeal to children, who often devour it with gusto.

Despite complaining while eating, they finished everything. They sat and talked as a family, waiting for the food to settle, before paying and leaving to buy more things.
