Koh Samui Trip 2018 with the Gang
Hello everyone, today we're taking a trip to Koh Samui in Surat Thani province. Let's see what interesting sights, attractions, and delicious food await us!
Let's go!
The journey begins at the Prince of Songkla University, Surat Thani Campus, and heads to the agricultural market. The orange shared taxi, costing only 20 baht, provides a convenient and affordable mode of transportation.
We then took a van to the ferry pier. The van was a Surat Thani - Don Sak - Ferry van and cost 100 baht.
The wait was not long before a staff member called our names, signaling the departure of our vehicle to our destination. The journey took approximately one hour, and we arrived at the Sea Tran Ferry pier.
Arrived at Sea Tran Ferry Port
As we haven't purchased tickets yet, the first step is to buy ferry tickets to Koh Samui at the Seatran Ferry Pier. Student tickets cost 70 baht each, while tourist tickets cost 130 baht.
Once you have purchased your travel ticket, you can use it to board the ship. The ticket you receive will be a hard card.
Gray card: Please insert your card into the machine to board the ship.
There are shops on board the SeaTran Ferry.
The air-conditioned massage room is available for those who are feeling tired. It is popular among tourists, especially during the hot weather.
After approximately one and a half hours on the boat, we will arrive at the pier known as Tha Ton Pier.
We then took a red bus to Laem Suwanna Ram Temple.
The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. The entrance to the temple may appear ordinary, but let's explore the interior.
Our first stop was the awe-inspiring Wat Laem Suwannaram (Wat Plai Laem).
The large statue of Phra Sangkachai, which is also enshrined in the middle of the water, is believed to
bestow happiness, abundance, and love. It is approximately 20 meters tall, allowing you to pay your respects
and make a wish for good fortune.
A colossal white statue of the Thousand-Armed Guanyin (18 arms), approximately 20 meters tall, stands majestically amidst the lake. A concrete bridge allows access for worship, attracting numerous international tourists who hold the deity in high esteem.
If you have enough time, don't forget to buy fish food for the fish and turtles in the lake to make merit for the small animals around the area. You can also enjoy the surrounding gardens.
A beautiful church in the middle of the water. Inside, there is a beautiful golden Buddha statue in the attitude of subduing Mara. There are murals about the life of the Buddha around the inside of the church. Just sit still and be calm inside the church. You will immediately realize the purity of your mind that you will receive. And don't forget that this is a temple area. Like other sacred places, you should dress modestly.
This is a picture of the inside of the temple, which is quiet and peaceful, making it a suitable place for spiritual refuge.
We then took a car ride around the island to Chaweng Beach.
Speedboats and banana boats are available for rent at the beach.
For dinner tonight, we decided to have a meal at this place, which is the Guru Buffet, Chaweng, Koh Samui.
The buffet costs 239 baht per person and includes drinks. The food includes grilled meats such as pork, chicken, and beef. Seafood options include small shrimp, very small clams, and edible squid. If you want to boil the clams, there is a pot provided. However, if you want to grill the shrimp on a dedicated shrimp grill, there is an additional charge of 69 baht. Snacks include fried rice, stir-fried vegetables, curry, spicy salad, french fries, and other items. Desserts include ice cream and other common sweets.
Ark Bar Pub is a relaxing place to unwind with vibrant lights, music, and refreshing drinks. Live music adds to the chill atmosphere.
Samui Hostel offers excellent service and clean rooms (beds are super soft!). Each bed has a bedside lamp. The price is perfect for student groups, and it's guaranteed to be a great value.
And so, the last day of the Koh Samui trip has arrived. The fun and memories will forever be etched in our hearts. Until we meet again, Koh Samui... The trip is over!
